They would be missed if we had competent coaching. Our offense is easy to stop, take away running backs and throws of ten yards or less. That simple. The QB cannot throw a good deep ball, our receivers don’t get good separation. Falls on coaching. We will continue to suck under DD.

Good news for the pack. Is he a stud, no but definitely fills a need and appears to be a quality player. Nice pick up for the Pack!

I think KK style fits both those players perfectly. I mean Rowan throwing up 3s is an easy one. Kapita seems like the perfect big for it to…..offensive rebounds play defense etc.

It would be one hell of a start to pick up Harris, Diarra, and Zouzoua. I noticed we are up against Mizzou for all three. They would be great additions and players that will stay multiple years.

I agree with Rye, the market is clearly dictating cost, and lesser programs are paying more than we are. I wouldn’t pay Underwood or Martin that amount money based on their results. I think market dictated cost. I am also tired of hearing how DY went cheap. When you see who was on the search committee, it is very evident it wasnt her making the full decision.

When has Debbie Yow ever been worried about criticism and what others think? The woman is retiring, even if she did care I doubt she does anymore. Perhaps this is hard to fathom, but we aren’t considered one of the elite programs. It’s time we stopped thinking the tier one coaches want to come to State. After the numerous searches in both football and basketball is is clear what the coaching world thinks of our programs. We have no choice but to go with a coach with way more potential than proven track record. To assume this is DY fault is just plain wrong. Blame the ineptitude of the coaches and ADs before her. Thank her for trying her damnedest to right the ship.

I think the problem with most who don’t like DY is that they focus on football and basketball solely. The two hardest sports to get right because they drive revenue. Everyone wants to win in those 2 sports, but not everyone cares about swimming or golf. Also those two sports are driven by men with large egos. We seem to think it is easy. Just pay the coach and lets go win. She has to ensure we make money, that all sports get the resources they need. Many of you don’t realize how hard it to manage an AD. You also forget how crappy we were in most sports before she got here. She has done nothing but elevate our entire AD.

Also for those of you who think she didn’t consider other candidates, get a grip. When has she ever not her due diligence in a coaching hire? You blast her when the search is public, because we get turned down and roasted in the media. She keeps the search quiet until we hire someone and you blast her because you don’t know all the details about the search. You cannot have it both ways. We are lucky to have her as our AD, period.

Hell at this point give the job to Wes Moore. At least he has earned it!

Collins is waiting to replace K, so is Hurley, Wojo, Amaker, Dawkins, and Capel. That’s just within Duke family list and doesn’t include outside candidates such as Stevens. I think it is more likely he make think he is building his own program at Northwestern.

I would prefer Chris Collins instead of Wade and Keatts. I know the Duke connections but he is a smart bball player, eats breathes and sleeps basketball, comes from a basketball family. If we are going to roll the dice roll it on him.

Keatts team finished the Colonial conference as the 10th worst team in defense. The COLONIAL!!!!! We just had 6 seasons of that, don’t need anymore.

Thats not true. You expect your boss to be a certain person but that could change too.

I dont think Archie would pick UVA over us. They don’t currently get elite talent, so there is little difference in the two programs, except coaching.

so far I see no difference in UNCW and the current state of our Pack, other than one being in the tourney.

I would think Bennett and Stevens are their top 2 targets.

BJD is that because of how well Butler did in the tourney or something else.

I do’t understand why so many posters are listing Wade as number 2 and Keatts 3. What about Holtmann? The guy can coach and I think is a realistic pickup if we don’t get Archie.

On my way to work today I listened to Andy Staples and Chris Spetola, on Sirius. Caller called in about Bromnell at Clemson and whether he should get another year. Staples compared Brownell’s situation with Gott’s. He said it wasn’t the win losses that will get him fired, just like it wasn’t for Gott. Gott was fired for not building and maintaining a program. More players left than came in and thats not sustainable every year. He said thats what forced state to make the correct decision in letting Gott go and he suspected Clemson would do the same. First big time sports columnist I have heard that actually gets it.

My biggest concern at this point is the timing. All our candidates are going to the tourney. If our top choice goes deep unfortunately there may not be many good fall backs if number one falls through by the time we get there. If Marshall and Miller say no or show anything but positive interest, I don’t think we should try to sell them on it. We move on to the other candidates so we don’t miss out on any of them.

Holtman would be my top pick after Miller and Marshall.

Fortunately both of those potentially competing offers are in the B1G. The conference isn’t a bunch of cupcakes either. From a competition standpoint it will be just as difficult as in the ACC.

To me it is simple, after our due diligence is done.

    1) First shot at Miller or Marshall but only one.

    2) If that fails, Maybe a Holtzman or Creen, depending on our due diligence.

    3) Keats – Last resort which I still view as an upgrade.

It’s simple really, raise the money to pay 4 million a year, go get a top tier coach and pay them. If we stay in the 2.5 million range we will get roughly the same results. I want a Marshall, Miller, or Holtman, coach at Butler. We only get those guys if we are willing to pay them.

which former state player? And why let him continue to coach out the season?
