I get what your saying VA but Williams also refused to recruit AAU. He became his own worst nightmare as he didn’t change the way he recruited to follow the times. Don’t get me worng I don’t want all 4 year role players. But I also know the quality programs (outside Kentucky) typically have 2-3 starters who are juniors and seniors. They have played enough games to have gotten better, learn their systems, etc. Couple that with one or two really good freshman on a consistent basis and you have your top tier team. We are recruiting solid basketball players that need time to develop. The majority of player son this team have gotten considerably better since the start of the season. Hell Anya can make it up and down the floor repeatedly!!! I see us getting better especially with three big men who will develop considerably between now and next year. We are all entitled to our opinions but I clearly see this program headed in the right direction.

Although, I would like Cat to stop dribbling around so much and run the offense!!!!

I disagree VAWolf. Having quality 4 year players consistently on the team means you can build for long term success. You sprinkle that in with some star talent hear and there and that translate to longterm success. Take Duke for example, they average some top star talent but they have a large number of players that stick around for 3-4 years.

Truth is we lack a a real shooting guard and have for years. A real shooting guard is one who can shoot as well as put the ball on the floor and beat someone off the dribble. We need one desperately. I know no one wants to hear how young we are but we are. None of our freshman are talented enough to be one and dones. They are all most likely 4 year players, which means we should be set when it comes to the front court for the next few years. Recruiting focus needs to be on guards now who can score both ways. With the big men we have we would be able to beat teams from outside or inside. Right now we are on dimensional and it shows.

For anyone thinking Gott should go, you are a fool. Remember where we were before he was hired. Remember this ACC with it’s additions this year and next is much more difficult. It isn’t an excuse just reality. We play in the toughest conference in the country, with no sustained success until Gott arrived. This team is beating expectations, even though we all want to be in the tourney. I see this team being built the right way for long term success.

I was at the game last night and had a few observations.

Our offense ran smoother with Tyler Lewis on the floor. Cat just dribbled around and passed the ball at the top of the key most of the night. He and Lee had plenty of open 3 opportunities and did not even attempt them. Lewis did not play in the second half, and walked off the floor with a coach or trainer with 4 minutes left in the game. When Warren was not on the floor our offense stopped. In the last 2:30 with Warren fouled out, Turner threw up 3 threes with at least 20 seconds left on the shot clock. We were only down 2-3 points during this time no need to throw up ill advised shots. Finally this team lacks leadership and it is most evident on the defensive side of the floor. Players are continually out of position forcing them to foul when they get beat.
