Lunardi has moved us to a 10 seed in the West against the Nevada Wolf Pack with the winner drawing 2 seed Purdue.

Would be perfect Ncaa set up. Wolf pack vs. Wolf pack and the Martin twins face their old school. Ncaa always sets up matchups for a reason and for interest. This makes way to much sense and could definitely see it happening

We shoot free throws like that again and we will get beat. It’s a good win right now tho. 100% in the tourney and chance to improve our seed.

Who remembers earlier in the season when our only offense was Yurt7 or throw up some garbage? Keatts has everyone scoring now. Really fun team to watch right now.

B.C. also shot awful from the field. Helps offensive rebounds when u have tons on missed shots.

Gotts ability to connect with the kids after recruiting was his biggest issue. Kids quit on him and too many transfers out of program. Keatts seems like he connects with the kids so far. We will see over the long run but this team certainly has taken more steps forward than any of Gotts teams did, including year 1.

2 road wins has to help the Rpi. While we may not finish top 4 in ACC, we could finish 5 or 6. 4 winnable games left. Here we go.

That one wasn’t too fugly. We were up the whole game after 5 minutes and kept wake at 10 points. Even in the semi-fugly end, they never got within one possession. And to make the Wake fans feel good, we have everyone free chic-fil-a. So while our team eats ice cream, the Wake fans can go eat chic fil a. Really both teams win in that.

We do not have top 4 talent in the ACC. Not even close. Remember the record last year and where we were picked. Not sure why people are jumping off the Keatts bus in a season that we beat Zona, Duke and Carolina. Cant let 1 or 2 losses change the view of our direction. I do agree on defense tho. Keatts has some guys coming in next year to overhaul the roster and it should get better. Markel and Dorn are good defenders. They are both back. Bottom line in Keatts has done better than anticipated but we aren’t winning a title with the talent on this squad…top 4 talent is just not true. If it is, please name the only 3 teams with more talent? I assume Duke, UNC and Virginia. I guess Fsu Miami Louisville and Notre dame all have less talent. Not sure bout that one.

I’m not back. Nor will I ever be. But I just wanted to let you all know your saviour named Keatts is a sham. Just like every other coach we’ve taken the easy flier on in the past two decades, fundamentals matter not.

Rebounding. It’s easy to teach, and it only takes a little effort to do correctly. Yet, we never seem to be able to.

    UNC – 41 NCSU – 24

UNC off rebs – 13 vs NCSU def rebs – 15

2nd chance pts. They got ’em, we didn’t stop ’em from getting to ’em. Lack of effort. Lack of knowledge.
That’s coaching. This game should have been ours by 8-10 pts if we were well-coached. With our size, there is no excuse to get doubled up on the boards by anyone. You all need to watch how we (don’t) rebound next game against ‘Cuse. We’ll still probably win because ‘Cuse sucks. But you watch. We’re lazy on the glass. Just like always.

Sadly, as much as I hate Roy, I have to admit his teams are well-coached in the fundamentals.

12/19 at the line also sucks.

When Keatts is at Elon in five years, lets all buy season tix, eh?

A bit negative eh. Calling Keatts a bust or a savior at this point is a bit silly. He has coached a team that was not even 500 with more talent to a team that is bubble worthy. We will see what happens long term but certainly to throw Keatts under the bus already is silly.

The holes played out of their minds tonight and made everything they threw up there. They play like that again and we are in trouble. That said, they haven’t played like that twice all season. It won’t happen again Saturday. They will be hungover.

Yes. Yurt is no physical enough for the NBA. Really his bigger limit is athleticism. He doesn’t have the quicks. He would benefit by a year more.

The fans feel the same way. That’s why they are referred to as just the holes.

Although not as good as Gott’s, Keatts’s first-year team is not chicken sh*^ either. It is more athletic than almost all Sendek teams I witnessed (Sendek recruited players as if he lived in a bygone era – some alternative universe that we could not observe). For example our center will start in the NBA and our PG has NBA athleticism and all ACC potential. Dorn, Abu and A. Freeman are all quite good. Beverly is savy.

On paper Keat’s first-year team is middle of the ACC (which translates into an NIT team or a bubble NCAA team [these largely overlap]) on paper, which is higher than pre-season predictions. Think about it…
    [/quote]

A couple disagreements- 1st Yurt may start in the NBA at some point, but he is likely not athletic enough for today’s current NBA game to be a long time fit. He’s definitely more of a college player. He is not athletic enough so while he may be a tough matchup in college, he is not matching up with NBA centers. Markel has NBA speed, but not shooting yet. I do agree that he has NBA speed tho. Dorn is great. Abu has been hurt. Al is a solid role player who thinks he is not and can sometimes perform like a star but Keatts has made him buy into the team concept. The guy comes off the bench and has still mostly bought in. Regardless, we have some talent this year but not Brown,Howell Leslie Wood talent or anywhere close.

Right now we are 4th in the ACC.

We finally have the offense that can score without Yurt having to carry the offense. A very solid team effort. We get the bye in the ACC tourney and this team is walk8ng into Ncaa. Truly believe a ranking in the polls is coming either this Monday or next.

The committee is looking at the quadrant system for Rpi, but you got to think that their are “barely” quadrant one/two wins and there are top tier quadrant 1 wins. This is why I don’t find the Kansas State argument really relevant for State. Kstate has 1 win versus a team currently ranked- Oklahoma. And they only beat 2 teams that were ranked when they beat them-Tcu and Oklahoma. State has 2 wins versus still top 10 teams and 4 wins versus teams still in top 25. We will see what happens rest of season but if we finish 10-8 then there’s a great chance we are dancing just based on teams we have to beat to get 5 more conference wins.

Yea, Al setting his feet made a huge difference. Also to note was that his shot actually had some air under it. When he shoots the contested pull up 3, he tries to get it off so quick that his shot is a line drive. Didn’t have the line drive Saturday. His shots had arch since he was open.

Provided we do not stink it up the rest of the year and get to at least 9 wins, we are in the tourney with the 4 top 25 (3 top 10) wins. Keatts comment that team “wasn’t as talented as most Acc teams” may be best motivation out there for these guys. Smart coaching move there.

Just made the tourney..2 road wins in same week and our Rpi is going to jump. Without looking it up, when was last time we beat both blues in the same year? Coaching makes a difference.

In the current basketball environment you are going to get one and dones even if you recruit kids that you don’t think are one and done. And if he doesn’t recruit kids that “could” be one and done (ie high 4 stars), then we won’t consistently be a player in the ACC. I’d imagine Keatts would take one and done 5 star if it’s the right kid (ie he would have taken Bagley, Carter, Williamson, etc if they would have us).
Let’s just hope he recruits the “right” kids and not kids that come in selfish. But if it’s the right kids who happens to be a probable one and done, you gotta take him.

Any chance the refs don’t put 2 quick ones on Yurt this weekend? You know Roy is telling them to now. Our offense has the capability to score without him on the floor but we also have capability to have long dry spells like the 1st half. They need him on the floor.

Canes shot the 3 well. Some defense issues and some just making more than they normally would. Yurt played great…wish he had made the 2 front ins. Also refs got the time out at end wrong. Changed momentum completely. Team needs to figure out how to make freeman pass. When he does that he is productive.

Also said that the 74 team was the greatest team in Ncaa history. Big praise from Mike. At least Dookies see the truth sometimes. Never get that from the other blue school.

Here’s a question on our Rpi- if we assume we go 10 and 8 in the Acc and have wins versus maybe 2 more ranked teams, is there any way our Rpi can go down? Our schedule strength over the season can only improve as weak ooc games get weighted less by stronger conference games, right?
