Not to back Gott, because at this point he’s proven he is a terrible coach, but BJ’S issue here has always been conditioning. If he’d have worked hard and been able to get to about 250 and run, he would be a better story. I’m glad he has been a good teammate this year and a incredible cheerleader, but I wish BJ would have committed to staying in shape. Gottfired is part to blame as much of the team is out of shape and slow for ability, but bj didn’t work hard enough on his own. Still, I’ll miss his smile.

There may not be a huge urge to come back to Raleigh but you can’t underestimate being a fan.
Assuming Archie is a NC State fan- he went to school here, his wife went to school here. Assuming they are fans, as fans you want to see your team win. What better way to get that than be the coach.

Arch wins a title at a power 5 and he’s probably staying there. Point is UNC isn’t hiring the Dayton coach unless it was a UNC guy. I do agree that they would look at Marshall ahead of Arch.

I’ve heard Brad Stevens to Duke but I don’t know if that happens or not. Boston Celtics is a pretty high profile job and coach K wants to leave his legacy there. That’s Collins or some other Duke player. Unc won’t hire a coach without big 5 success unless they hire their own. I could see Arch coaching Indiana but unc and Duke aren’t coming calling Archie at this point. He goes to Indiana and has huge success then maybe, but he doesn’t satisfy either program’s fan base or AD at this point or in the near future.

No way is Arch getting the Duke or UNC job ever. Duke and UNC have way to much ego to ever ever hire an NC State alum. Duke has a laundry list of K disciples and they will hire one of those. UNC may not hire one of there own but they wouldn’t ever hire Archie. They have way too much ego for that and I’d guess Roy would want one of his own in there like K will. Maybe 20 years down the road Archie gets a call from unc or duke but it won’t happen while K and Roy are alive.

If Archie picks Ohio state over us, then the pundits are correct- our job is not a good job. Ohio state is a foot all school. Archie is a pack alum. If we can’t get loyalty from an alum versus a football school then we may be over valuing our program. If Archie takes Osu before instead of us (assuming he is offered both) then we should all just go cry and accept that we will never be a perennial top 25 again. If he takes Indiana, then that’s different but Osu is not a better job than ncsu and any ncsu alum in coaching should know that.

Thinking about it I’m not sure Abu is not our only improved player. His 15 foot shot has improved significantly. Not sure anyone else has improved any aspect of their game at all (granted not really a large sample with only 3 returning players)

What about reports Archie wouldn’t take the job? Just espn guessing or any truth to that?

In the acc there is 1 gimme- great post there. To any pack fans that went to the game- did the beer sales help? We may need to start beer sales the last couple home games just to get attendance

Gott won’t finish this season at 5-11. Not cause we aren’t trying but more because we have 18 conference games.

Why do we assume Maverick kapita and Markell are gone? Kapita I can see, Maverick I don’t see and Markell is the starter next year whoever the coach is. Let’s just hope it’s not Gott.

Are these upsets every week good bad or no matter for the pack? ACC beating up on each other may end up meaning less ranked teams and lower seeds, but maybe means more teams get in?? Who knows?

The nc state conspiracy theorists say this is just to hype up the SC game at BOA stadium. Will Muschamp 1st game, boa and a ranked opponent equals ratings. But that’s just what conspiracy theorists say. I think we deserve it.

Yep. We always looks tired and it’s not just BJ. He did have his hands on his hips 1 minute 30 seconds into the 2nd half which is unacceptable but smith looked gassed the whole game too. Someone get a conditioning coach and a new head coach and we would be ok.

Perhaps another key to this team seemingly accepting their roles is this- we have transfers on this team who have sat out at least one year and we have players who have seen transfers out who are in a no better position than if they had stuck around. It worked for Louisville a couple years ago. Lastly, perhaps we won’t see transfers from this team because those who would think about it (perhaps Johnson and Kapita) are almost certainly starting next year with grads and a couole going pro.

I think he will keep the 8 to 9 man rotation. We have never been deep enough to play this before so we will see but the bottom of the 8 to 9 man is Beejay and Kapita. Beejay can’t play too many minutes because of physical activity and Kapita fouls a bunch but is plenty talented. Also Yurt and Abu really play different positions than Beejay and Kapita.

The last few years? Sans 1 Amato year it’s been through last 20 years. Stay optimistic for basketball. Football will never get enough recruits to compete beyond border top 25.

Wake may sell that many tickets but never a big crowd there. The season tickets are 75 dollars for the whole year in some sections so a bunch of people buy them for 1-2 games. They are selling beer in stadium now too to help draw a crowd.

Just don’t let them see the fort Wayne tape. Crazy that a team can play 2 games and be so much different. Tough to get 19 year old kids on the same page every night. Hopefully we can use the loss to motivate our kids too and we will be fine.

Kirk didn’t play because he is awful. He fouls for no reason and then last night you have the bone headed play of catching the ball out of bounds. Anya doesn’t play be cause he is listed at 330 but looks 400 out there. Not sure on Hicks.

One other thing to keep in mind is experience. We have 1 player from last year’s team who plays (abu). That’s it until maverick is back. It takes time for 6 new guys to gel. Talent is there

We need Maverick back and Yurt back. Once this happens, then judge this team. Right now we have 6 guys who can play and play hard. BJ is just too big to count. The smith, dorn, Henderson, kapita Abu Johnson team is solid. But not winning with 6 guys against a big 10 team on the road.
