We’re taking the court tonight for an ACC road game in Pittsburgh, against the Pitt Panthers at 9:00pm…
Now, back in my ‘traveling days’, iirc, I went to the Steel City three times, I think, enjoyed my time there, every time…
Basically, as far as Sports go there… if you grew up in or live withing ’bout a hundred plus miles of Pittsburgh, Pa, you got three choices…
The Steelers, The Pirates and the Panthers…
Some of ya’ll remember ole’ Willie Stargell, who hangs out down here in ILM on occasion, and the “We Are FAMILY” thing back in the day… and ole’ Terry Bradshaw, who wasn’t half bad, is still kicking or talking as the case may be… but it’s sports singularity as it’s best or worst, depending on your perspective…
I’ve got nothing bad to say ’bout the place, except I wouldn’t want to live there…
A family is one thing, A “NATION” is a whole other thing…
A Nation is a group of diverse people who live together and have two or three things that bind them together… Plurality, NOT Singularity….Give me Tobacco Road, especially in the Winter, with it’s Basketball. And with that, it’s joys and it’s heartbreaks, it’s nuances and it’s history, a little cold and snow and a early Spring.
Give me the Red && White, for better or worse…

THIS GAME is NOT a gimme, in spite of what the numbers guys say…
Otherwise, same as every game this season…
1. Will our BIGS get MAD ???
2. Will BATTS && Markel bring the heat ???
3. Will ALL-erik be ALL-Team ???That said, I’m going out on a limb and doing two things…
1. Putting the bright lights ON DORN… he’s been strong in the second half of close ACC games, but tonight, I’m thinking that he has a break out game with two good halves and solid double digit numbers…
2. TAKING the bright lights off ABU… I probably have been a little hard on ABU for the last several games. I don’t get a lot of inside information down here at the beach, so what you see, is what you know, you know???
I’m thinking the “recovery” from his injury is taking a whole lot longer than anticipated, and maybe that’s gotten in his head, so I’m cutting him some slack and taking the pressure off… Anything ABU brings to the party for the next couple weeks goes in the Bonus category and I’m asking the rest of our kids to do the job… We’ll need ABU, at 100%, in March a whole lot more than in January…
