DY done a great job driving the overall athletic dept. I don’t remember our Director’s Cup standing ever being this high. Maybe it has but it’s been a loooong time. She is very responsive, maybe too responsive, to emails and feedback.
Regardless of what anyone thinks of the hires, the last two major coaching searches have went very smooth. I can’t speak for the athletic budget but I heard it was looking good. Of course a lot of that also has to do with the big increase in budget all ACC schools have gotten over the last few years from increased TV contracts.
Put me down as a big DY fan.

Like most, wish it would have been Archie but happy with Keatts. I think he will prevent a mass exodus this year.
At least I have something to look forward to for next season. Wasn’t looking forward to another year of Gott underperforming.
We are getting a lot of good press which is great for recruiting.

Ah hell, who needs defense. Look at the bright side. If he sucks, then we get to have this fun in 5-6 years from now. Start lining up your coach in waiting choices now boys.

LOL, pretty sure Giglio wouldn’t post on Twitter without feeling fairly credible about what he is posting.

As much as I would love for it to be Arch, I feel sure it will be Keatts. The main reason is because we are State. It’s just who we are. We signed with the devil in ’83 and are still in dept to him. Things just don’t work in our favor in this universe.

And, if we don’t get Arch I know a lot of people are ready to scream at Yow not doing her job. I just don’t fee we can lay much of the blame on her. I can guarantee she would have given it a run. There is only so much money she can offer. None of us know what her budget restrictions are at this point. Plus, you just can’t make a guy come here that just doesn’t want the job. No matter how much you want them here.

I always think it’s funny though when guys/girls state that they are done with the team they follow if something doesn’t go a particular way. It never happens. Fans return. It’s like a drug. You can’t help it. You always come back for more punishment and that small glimmer of hope that one day your team will be back on top again.

I dunno, seems to me to be a toss-up between Keatts and Wade. They each have traits I like and some I don’t. Both are a big gamble.
So if you are Debbie, I would HAVE to think by now that she has been given word on whether or not Arch is interested. So I think if we don’t hear something by tomorrow then it’s not Wade or Keatts. Because if it’s not Arch then I don’t see her waiting on Wade when both are an almost equal gamble.
So I feel if we don’t hear thru the weekend then it’s really good news OR we are really screwed.

I know there is a diff in talent between ACC players and whatever UNCW conf is in, BUT I can see the defensive issues that people see in Keatt’s gameplan.

Agree with you Wulf on UNCW. Their entire offense here late in the 2nd seems to be spread the floor and jack wild 3’s. Hell, they have plenty of time to drive and go inside. I do understand UNCW has no height but still.

Don’t know the politics behind the scenes but let’s say we offered 3.9M for a coach, would the BOG approve?

So now Illinois is rumored to be making an offer of 4.8 MILLION for Bennett. I have a feeling State will be shopping at Big Lots for a coach. I just don’t think our admin has the nuts to pony up over 3M for a coach.

So I’m hearing Martin, if true, is being offered 3.5M/yr for 5 yrs to take the Missouri gig. That seems like a LOT of case for Martin.

just give the Coaches 5 TOs per half – no carryover and eliminate the Under 16, Under 12, Under 8 and Under 4 TV Timeouts in each half …

    Can’t do that. Ad $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Like you said, either way 2 hr blocks. The shorter the game the more ads they can squeeze in.

No saying we need to hire him BUT Levelle is a good coach. You just never know who will be the next star coach.

    Shhhh BK. don’t tell anyone.

Someone might find out there is a media standard/code of conduct for us and one for everyone else undoubtedly.

So the big knock on State is that the fans are crazy and expect too much. For god’s sake we actually want to feel like our team is properly coached in both offense AND defense. But, I don’t get how the IU job could be considered a job with a more realistic and easier to please fanbase and thus a more desirable job. It does have that mythical history kinda like ND football.

Barring any uber tanking Lowe style, a coach is going to get 6 years here. Does any person realistically think that a coach at IU that keeps losing is going to have an easier time with their fanbase and last much longer? They’re just as stuck in the past as we are.

LOL, no sir Mr Cow. Took me about 10 min to type that small blip on my cell phone. Crazy the two posts so similar.
Regarding Epic thread, I don’t remember if that as during the time of Angry Alum or not.

Troll breaks the plane, carries SFN thread to 26 pages. Is that a record for this morgue.

Not even close. Before the site restructuring and great exodus, the last coaching search topic went well over 200 pages. But granted, that was a much more fun/interesting search.

Greg Doyel of all people has been tweeting positively about Archie and State possibilities.

I can’t say how much of an insight Doyel has with Archie, maybe none, but as far as State is concerned, unless my memory is grossly mistaken, he became one of the few national media State supporters during the last coaching search. He even penned an article about how he used to just bash State but his like for Debbie and his hate for Sweaty Gary made him a State supporter.
He tabbed State a great coaching gig on several recent occasions.

Now Mr Goodman on the other hand, I just don’t understand what his hate for State is based on.

I imagine Gottfried’s final interviews with the press puts him in a tough situation to navigate. For one, you don’t want to look like an ungrateful, whiny person to your last school and to the AD that let you hang on until the final game at your request. But, on the other hand, he does have his future to worry about. And, I’m sure he wants another gig with a decent school so you don’t want to just say, “Yeah, I sucked at this and at that and yeah, I really should have been fired”. From his stand point, the State job is over with, time to worry about his future employment.
But again, you do tell the press how great of a coach you are and at the same time say that the school was doing the right thing by firing you. Kind of contradicting points he has to waddle through.

My useless opinion, we should go ahead and make Kevin Keatts a big offer and not look back.

Wow, another year, another late rabbit out of the hat for Gott and Co. Makes you wonder when the late in the recruiting process luck will run out.
