We were still alive. That’s how long it’s been going on for

I just wrote that fully expecting we’ll all be long gone before it’s resolved.

One thing we’ve been sorely missing since Freeman got hurt is someone who can execute a high ball screen. That’s a critical piece of this offense, and Yurtseven does that. He can shoot from outside and is great in the pick and roll. The more him and Dennis play together in live game situations, the more lethal both are going to become. Yurt’s ability to see the court and find the open man is also going to help our wings tremendously. Whatever his stats, Omer’s presence on the floor is a game changer.

I’m heading over to the stadium in a few minutes. I’ll stay to the bitter end. Hopefully it’s a happy bitter end.

Just my input, but I sure would like to see the SFN forum get back to a sports focus. There’s plenty of places to go for all this other stuff. Unfortunately it seems to find its way into every thread now.

Since this thread has strayed from moral dilemma to hot dogs, I have a question to take it further off course. Whenever I happen to be traveling through Siler City on my way to Greensboro, I stop at a place called Johnson’s, where I swear they have the best cheeseburgers I’ve ever eaten. The place doesn’t look like much on the outside, but their burgers are other-worldly. My question is, has anyone been there, and am I over selling how good they are, or has anyone found better?

BJD, you said a while back Louisville is a good road trip to take. I was thinking I would do it. I’m pretty sure now I won’t.

He got hurt late in the 4th qtr last week. He limped off and I saw the trainer taping his ankle. He eventually went back in for the final series, but Im assuming that’s what it is.

Nyheim Hines will not play, but it shouldn’t matter. Last year Shad and Dayes had their way, and I think Matt and Reggie will this year. They have a better QB than they had last year, and Ray Lawry is a big time threat who will play on Sundays, but I say we win by 4 TDs.

It’s frightening what you get when you google naked Dean Smith.

Wins over Creighton and St. Joseph’s in the Paradise Jam would pretty much offset any weakness in the rest of the OOC schedule.

Well, I for one, fVcking hate the Pirates. They can kiss my fuzzy ass. Plz to not lose.

This is where we need a “Like” button.

I’m with Cowdog, I have no idea who wins this one. However, I’m making the drive over to sit in that little visitor’s section in the corner of the upper deck in blazing heat, so I sure hope it’s us. It will be a miserable drive home otherwise.

BOTB, in fact one of their players did sign with us and was a star recruit. James Summers was to be our QB of the future, but after committing to us he decided to go play for the Tarheels. However, grades got in the way and he ended up at a junior college. He’s kind of their version of Jaylen Samuels in that he will line up all over the field on offense. He’s one guy that definitely concerns me this weekend.

One thing I want to see is how Ryan Finley performs under pressure. He got an A+ last week, but I’m not sure that was a fair test. This week will tell us a lot more.

It’s a weird one, but apparently if the defense blocks a PAT or recovers the ball on a 2 point attempt, then runs or fumbles it into their end zone and subsequently gets taken down, it’s a one point safety for the offense. According to Wikipedia it’s only happened twice in NCAA history. You may have seen one of those two.

I was in Dublin a few months ago and saw the BC/GT match advertised. My immediate thought was there is not enough Smithwick’s and Jameson in Ireland to make that game enjoyable.

Like others, I found the crowd to be pretty quiet for an opening game. I also think 90% full is a tad generous.

Not a lot of mistakes, and a lot of good things to take away from the game. Finley’s poise, the play of the offensive line, so many good running backs, a couple of potential future stars in Harmon and Moss, Frasier scoring a TD, lots of WRs catching passes, the physicality of our receivers, our defense stuffing a potent offense. The best part is the coaching staff has two extra days to prepare for those goobers down the road. I plan to be there in person to see the Pirates walk the plank.

    Go Pack!

I think it might be more appropriate to revisit after he’s actually played a down or two. He is just a redshirt freshman going into his first season after all.

Thanks for the Louisville tip. I may give that one a try. I’m already planning to go to the ECU and Clemson games. I’m thinking we upset one or two teams this year.

I don’t know if it’s been mentioned in another thread, but Pete Finley was given another year of eligibility, so he now has 3 years left.

9 days to kickoff. Hot damn!

The dept chart for W&M was released this afternoon. Still no decision on the QB battle. The kicker battle remains open as well.

If UNC’s approach to this works, they will have have developed a blueprint for all schools to successfully cheat. Simply ensure you don’t involve just athletes in your scheme. Open it up to the whole student body. It then becomes an academic issue, not an NCAA issue. Pretty tricky.

Yes, that is great to hear. Good for Cat. And every 10 day contract is worth around $50K. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him pick up a few of those during the season.

If Gott can get them to play defense, I will put a starting lineup of Dennis Smith Jr, Henderson, Rowan, Abu, and Yurtseven against any starting five in the country. And with guys like Johnson, Dorn, Anya, Kapita, Hicks, and Kirk coming off the bench, yes, I would say this is the deepest and most talented team we’ve had in a long time.

And just to close on the Europe U20 championships, Omer had a sub-par game in the semis, and Turkey lost. He bounced back with a strong game to lead Rurkey to a 3rd place finish. Omer made the 1st team all star squad, which was a great accomplish, met considering he was playing against players who were a few years older than him. Unfortunately he won’t get a chance to play in the U18 tourney. The tournament was scheduled to be played in Turkey, so FIBA postponed it indefinitely. Omer will be on campus in a few weeks time.
