North Carolina State coach Mark Gottfried said he’s expecting the NCAA to rule on 7-foot Turkish center Omer Yurtseven’s eligibility, “in the next week to 10 days… we’ve spent time in practice forseeing that he will play and we’ve spent time with the possibility that he may miss some games. But we don’t know yet. I don’t know enough to even really guess at this point.”

I nominate that for NC State’s new slogan.

How about: “We might not win but we don’t play defense.”

    Will everyone get cleared?

16 days before game 1 and still no answer. We’ll probably get the verdict on March 2nd.

“Trump’s beauty queen is now outed as porn star”
It’s not Machado. There is a 20 second video clip of her “having relations” with a fellow contestant on a Big Brother style show, under covers, filmed with night vision camera.

    “accessory to attempted murder”
A Venezuelan judge concluded that there was insufficient evidence to arrest her as a suspected accomplice [driving the getaway car] in the attempted homicide. Her boyfriend at the time was indicted. Prosecuting attorney said there were witnesses, evidently none came through, or there were none. She had an alibi.

“and also threatened to kill a judge.”
Maybe. He said / she said.

“For fun, she has a Mexican drug Lord’s child.”
    Unsubstantiated. Maybe Maury can help.

Machado has appeared nude in Mexican Playboy. But then again, Melania has a few nude pics of her own. Everyone has a past.

I ate at the Varsity once, in the mid-80s. Hands down the most disgusting meal I have ever eaten.

I’m not emotionally invested, I never was.

I was just about to write something similar. I’m invested, but just a little bit, as part of my sports portfolio. State football is about to get dumped due to underperformance.

Haha, I took an endo just a few weeks ago, right over the bars of my mountain bike after a steep drop gone awry. Nothing really hurt but my pride, brought home a shiner for proof. My wife wonders what the hell I’m doing, but damn it’s great exercise in the hilly wilds of BC – what could be better?

Maybe you’re talking about the motorized variety? I had my share of crashes on those too, escaped relatively unscathed due to my flexible wrestler’s bod 🙂

    There’s always something.

BTW great end to the Texas/ND game. Charlie was Strong.

Funny, about 7 or 8 years ago, I watched Clemson at Auburn play in auburn…at that moment, I was totally ok with my son not playing football. Watching this game tonight, I feel the same way.

Chop it’s been over 12 hours and I still don’t know what you meant by that.

I believe this is a new contract/signing for Cat, again with the Sixers. From what I gather the off-season contract is different from the training camp contract. 76ers are thin at guard so maybe he’ll stick. Downside is that it’s the Sixers. But hey, it’s the NBA.

Sixers sign Cat Barber, James Webb III, and Shawn Long for training camp

hotter than a Galaxy 7 Note phone.

Haha, nice pull. I just a display design for a cell phone reseller and the Note was very prominent in the design. Hope the whole backdrop doesn’t go up in flames.

Re: unX, The EPSN recap mentioned some “questionable calls” and I knew the blues would be hoppin’ mad, but 40 pages? Goodness.

re: State – I didn’t see the game so can’t comment on the specifics, but they won handily, which is good regardless the opponent. By the accounts I’ve read it would seem that the Pack left a few arrows in the quiver. Chalk this one up, move on and beat the rats.

UGA dominating the stats but not the score. Cheaters just go 3 and out on their own 10 with 4:00 to go. 26-24 Dawgs.

ETA: Annnnnd UGA’s first play from their 45 is a 55 yard run for a TD. Good night Holes. 33-24.

There are a decent number of roundabouts in Victoria. Some have made a huge positive impact in traffic flow. The intersection that provides access to the airport was completely redesigned using a multiple roundabout design so traffic from any direction can head toward the airport without stopping. It can be a tad confusing but they wisely painted large airplane icons in the lanes to the airport which makes it easier for the uninitiated.

    YYJ intersection

Then there are others which are poorly designed, i.e. too close to other traffic control measures. A new one at UVic includes crosswalks right at the entrance/exits to the circle, which causes cars to stop in the circle while waiting for pedestrians. Bad idea.

Here’s something really interesting, a comparison on a segment called The Equalizer, part of The Nature of Things on Canadian TV. They pitted a virtual Mark Spitz swimming his WR pace against Paul Biedermann , the current WR holder who swam a full ten seconds faster than Spitz’s time. Beidermann wore the suit that is not outlawed when he set the record. In the comparison, he wore a Speedo like the one Mark wore. The result? Spitz won.

Great race to watch, congrats to Ryan and the team.

From choppack in his similar post, “College will feel a little weird after that I imagine.” Of course I’m keeping up with the Canadians too, and they have a couple of 16 year olds on the women’s team who helped them to a Bronze in the Women’s 4×100 free, their first medal in that event in 40 years. And one of those 16 y.o. women, Penny Oleksiak, got a Silver in the 100 fly. Good stuff. I can imagine that high school will be a little different for them. Canada has been working hard to shed the “just happy to be here” mentality over the last decade or so, and the results are showing.

If UNC is admitting these classes were fraudulent, then logic dictates that the grades should be also.

You would think. But their convoluted logic would be / is something along the lines of “but the athletic side trusted that the academic side was in good standing, and therefore should not be held accountable”. The whole NCAA house of cards is about to fall down. Why even continue the sham of examining a recruit’s high school grades or SAT scores? Does that matter any more?

There’s only one message: “f*ck you!” It just happens to be addressed to two groups: the NCAA, and all the other member institutions.

Yep. Except that it’s “F*CK YOU!”

I hope Seven comes to State straight from Finland and bypasses all that nasty coup business back home. Of course then there’s the other collaborator in evil that has yet to make a decision on his eligibility.
