Duke’s Men’s LAX team get them +90 on us. FSU’s softball won the NCAA tournament for +100. FSU also has very good M&W track programs. Those were the difference makers in the spring sports. I doubt we’ll see LAX make a comeback any time soon but we can improve in softball and track.

Montgomery County raises a Budweiser and says up yours geeks.

In Montgomery County, Maryland I’m pretty sure that would be a craft brew.

    What is A Husk?

… the shrimp & grits at the Washington Duke Inn topped them all.

Thanks, Yogi. I’ll be stopping by next time through.

Husk in Charleston is pricey and a bit pretentious but they have the best shrimp & grits I’ve ever had (and I order that any time I see it on the menu).

McCallum – what’s your connection with Rowan County? I grew up in Salisbury.

A team that actually plays defense…

    …that’s not exactly stellar defense.

Maybe I should have said “a team that actually tries on defense…”.

I texted a friend last night: “State basketball hasn’t been this much fun to watch in two decades, maybe three”. A team that actually plays defense – what a concept! It also seems that this wasn’t a team putting together a near perfect performance to pull out an upset – there is still a lot of room for improvement.

Braxton Beverly looks like the guy we all hoped Tyler Lewis would be. He definitely reminds me of Corch.

I was thinking the whole time that he reminds me of Monty Towe.

    CD,
Thanks for the idea. The Mrs. put together a pot that we enjoyed while watching FSU disappoint.

Never cared much for chowder as a kid but, after marrying a girl from Boston (o.k. Needham), I’ve developed a taste.
As for Fenway – my father-in-law had season tickets but I never managed to fit in a game.

I would love to see some statistics on our performance vs. temperature. It sure seems to me that our team is a hot weather team. That would help explain the BC series. And before anyone jumps on me about anecdotal evidence, that’s why I said “I would love to see some statistics”.

My favorite baseball oddity was the kid on my son’s high school team who hit a grand slam and threw a no-hitter in the same game.

I got rid of poison ivy by cutting the plants at the ground. The vine will die and you can spray the new growth close to the ground. It might take more than one shot to kill it completely since the roots are probably well established. This method worked for me but I didn’t attempt it under azaleas. Use this suggestion at your on risk.

Bill – Halftime might be “Basketball Time” for the players but it’s “something else” for the viewers.

I’m wondering where the DB’s are. Personally, I thought our defensive secondary was the weak spot in our team. So a recruiting class that’s supposed to fill needs has 2 DB’s? I don’t get it.

Did she provide the bump in recruiting? There are a lot of underclassmen (underclasswomen?) get a lot of minutes.

That recipe is very similar to my Mom’s. My birthday is in August. I always wanted a coconut cake but Mom insisted the weather was too hot. She always made me one for Christmas to make up for it.

The MET guys are comparing Matthew to Hazel:

My parents were both from eastern NC (Wayne & Brunswick Counties). Both would refer to a mess as looking “like Hurricane Hazel came through”.

I support allowing felons to vote after completion of their sentence. I can’t think of a good reason to deprive someone of a fundamental right once they’ve paid their debt to society.

For the same reason ID’s are required – it more heavily effects the black community.
