Point for the younger crowd – never get too low or too high. I am excited with the additions but I have not seen any of them in a full ACC level BB game. So consider that as well as consider the ledge jumping ..

Very good advice and always something I try to keep in mind, not only with NCSU athletics, but also life in general.
Admittedly, I’m often not successful keeping this in mind in either case.

Always closer to ledge jumping in either case. Very much so.

As Carlos Castaneda said: ” Belief is its own reality.”

    Some get wetter than others.

Significant Castaneda wisdom in early Eagles tunes.

The Dillon (or maybe Hamer?), SC regional, featuring NC State. Awesome.

Postgame festivities at the Hot Tamale. Mexico East and West gift shops offering official NCAA gear. Postgame fireworks provided by Fort Pedro.

What is hilarious is that the modern knee-jerk reaction to such supposedly racist motifs runs contrary to the politics of the guy that started and ran SOB until his death. Alan Schafer. Decidedly liberal Democrat.

And let us not forget the engineer of the most recent QE was none other than Ben Bernanke, who waited tables at SOB while he saved up money to go to Harvard (no BS, look it up). He’s even got an interchange in Dillon on I-95 named after him.

Yeah. A home regional in Dillon would rock. And fling a big finger up at everybody that deserves it in this day and age.

One could make the case (and it may have already been made around here) that we had a hand in Nova’s championship with that win last year.

And, yes, I masquerade as Captain Obvious.

Looks like Santa Clara made the biggest splash hire of all.

Pencil them DEEP in my bracket next season.

RB is definitely deep. Need to get just enough of an OL to open just the smallest smidgen of daylight.

Not concerned about the QB. I’m still concerned about the vertical personnel. But, maybe once the new QB hits a couple of bombs that will change.

I’m traditionally a glass-half-empty guy (aren’t most of us?) but I think this year is going to exceed expectations.

But somebody had better cover in the D-backfield.

And bless their cheatin’ hearts, Carolina leapfrogs us to #6, up from #10, by virtue of a weekend sweep of (then #12) Okie State. Can’t argue with that, but it still pisses me off.

    First chance the Pravda gets.

No matter if deserved or not.

Will relay someday my conversation with a local TV sports anchor that told me all I needed to know about the lay of the land. Like I needed that to convince me.

In my view, the mistake was not actively going after SEC membership. Then at least we would have something to sell.

    Yep. We’ll regret that one.

One comment on Gott getting his 100th quicker than anyone except the Father of ACC Basketball:

He did it without playing an embarrassingly cupcake schedule. I know he had more games in which to accomplish it, but so did other coaches.

    That’s saying something.

Nice to see the Holes get hosed on a critical call for once. They have no right to complain after the way they have hosed all of college athletics for the last 40 or so years.

    OK, I’m confused.

How can violations in WBB related to something already directly referenced by the NCAA in the NOA be “self-reported”?

unx football reminds me a great deal of the worst boss I ever had (thank the Lord I got out of that situation).

Ego and over-inflated assessment of potential based on so little actual evidence and ability. In the team’s case, mostly coaching ability.

Speaking of said boss, even now, 7 years down the road, I still fantasize that one day I’m driving a Toyota and he walks out in front of me, so I can run him down and claim the accelerator got stuck. But I landed in an infinitely better situation, so I guess all works out for the best.

I don’t think the Roy stuff bothers me as much (considering we always figured the howitzers would come out against any basketball penalties) as the football staff either brazenly lying to recruits/new commits about the extent of upcoming penalties, or showing their hand that they are privy to information they shouldn’t be from the NCAA.

Telling recruits that they have their “word” that no further penalties are forthcoming seems like a awfully high stakes gamble to me, unless Swoffie’s fixed it somehow. Which is entirely possible.

OK. He didn’t get charged with runs in the 6th but now he has two of his own in the 7th.

I go home tonight after a day at the salt mines and stop about 9:30 at the local megasports bar. During my visit I look up and I see the name “Rodon” on the screen. Cleveland batting in the top of the 6th. Bases loaded.

Fastball looks good. He gives up a moderately hit single to left to some guy on a five game hitting streak for Cleveland that scores two. Got the slider going against the next “lefty” batter and saws him off on a week grounder to 3rd to end the inning.

Didn’t see him come in but I imagine he won’t get charged with any runs, judging from the pitch count (he must have come in right before I noticed he was in).

How much ya got riding on it?

Let’s just say that, for a $20 investment, I am looking at a rather large return. Unless Michigan State wins on Saturday, in which case I get nothing.

This year’s bracket was one you wait your whole life for.

For reasons I won’t go into but probably can be guessed…I really really REALLY need Duke to win Saturday night. All else is gravy. Gravy of differing consistencies and flavor, to be sure, but gravy nevertheless.

Having said that–finding a way to keep that defensive intensity up for at least 35 minutes (and preferably 40) would move the ceiling for this team very, very high.

Jim Boeheim has proven what we all have suspected for years–that he is classless. On top of that, he’s proven that he’s a coward.

The arrogance, snide comments everybody insisted on taking as “humor”–whatever.

When I was at State, my roommates and I recorded the 1984 ESPN College Basketball Preview show (I was in one of the dorms that had cable, which pretty much narrows down where I was living on-campus) and they had a segment with Boeheim. He said that Michael Jordan was a “good player” but he felt that Pearl Washington did much more for his team than Jordan.

From that day, I thought the man was an idiot. Now he’s a convicted crook on top of it (without jail time).

Still got the VHS tape somewhere, by the way.
