Who was the coach at Clemson (I think he went to Auburn after that) who like had a 4 loss season or something but all the losses were in the last 3 weeks of the season then they made an early exit in the post season.

King of the cupcakes, Cliff Ellis, who is now at Coastal Carolina in Conway, SC. He’s won over 800 games but considering his wins came over competition quite different than more lofty 800 games winners, well …

Love that Thomas Dolby thing GC. Great song, however the dark matter thing goes all the way back to Albert, and without it we have no way to explain gravity (it also was the only thing that could bend light according to Albert). It seems that mass alone doesn’t have enough attraction. I personally would love to jump on the bathroom scales this AM and have about 50% less attraction, but that’s another story.

BTW, just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they are not out to get you, and if you do that you’ll go blind, and other useless platitudes. That almost sounds like a great album title if they have such a thing anymore, I mean when albums went away they still called CDs albums per se but now that CDs are going away what do they call them?

I do have other useless, mindless questions but I’m afraid if I post them all here BOTB will put them in a collection, along with all the other useless mindless stuff and have a NY Times best seller and I’ll sit here green with envy. BTW, is envy really green? AH HAH! Paint dark matter green so we can see it. There’s your answer GC.

Ummmm… don’t look now but the pack9 is 7-1 to start the season and ranked as high as 12. Can pack sports get any better? Yep, if the pack9 can do the same thing to FSU baseball that they did to BB. And take out the tiggers too! GO PACK!
    On to Omaha!

Christian Dawkins, a former AAU basketball coach and associate who worked for sports agent Andy Miller at ASM Sports, wrote an email to Miller at 9:52 a.m. on Aug. 29, 2016, that he’d been in contact with N.C. State head coach Gottfried and assistant coach Orlando Early.

There is no hard evidence that this shows anything other that an email contact, which in and of itself proves nothing. The FBI may have more evidence but from a legal perspective emailing someone is not a crime.

If we can win out, IF, then we move above clempsome no matter what and datech also would have to win out to keep us out of the double bye. Double bye does sound really good don’t it?

Follow up to a previous post I made on the Washington Duke Inn in Durham. Second time around I was not impressed, their executive chef got a bigger/better gig and his replacement kept the menu items but changed the recipe. The wife and I were not impressed with the new spin on their menu.
Really sad , we loved it before.

GC, the wife got me a smoker for my birthday and I must admit the first boston butt I smoked came out REALLY tasty. AND much less work than my previous methods for cooking them. The new smoker, like my wife, is a keeper.

I think some of Abu’s problem could be a pity party. For some it’s hard to trade being the lead dog in the pack for being swept into a pack of lead dogs trading time at the front. In today’s environment of kids aspiring to make it to the show with that big contract way too many view the former to be the path over the later and realize too late they made the wrong choice.

Understood completely rye, that’s what prompted my “potential”. In a career in the Navy I saw many come and go, and later in that time frame had some that worked for me. The throw aways were most times easy to spot, the keepers take time usually to show what they got. Until then they were “potentials”. I was lucky to have some keepers and used them to turn around a few throw aways. From the very start though I saw KK as a “potential”. He had what looked to me like UMMMPH. I’d sure like to see that bunch go 6 – 2 down the stretch. Wouldn’t hat be grand!

No matter how you look at it KK was probably the best fit that we could hire, that being said he does have the potential to slide right up there with the big 3 in NC State lore (Case, Sloan, V). No one else since V had that potential IMO. Seemed we were always hoping for the best, but rarely getting it. I know, its EARLY, but when we hired Gott I had an uneasy feeling that was a train wreck waiting to happen. Something about a guy who has a reputation for always chasing a skirt that just doesn’t sit right. And HWSNBN could have had a personality clash with a door knob and it would have come out a draw. Sid just wasn’t. But I have a feeling about this KK guy, you have to have a special metal to coach at a military school. He could be a real winner (in the long haul).

Engineers don’t know anything about predictive variables

Ummm… not quite rt, there are many processes in engineering that depend heavily on predictive variables, otherwise there would be a cubic butt ton (not a predictive variable) of testing equipment blown up on a daily basis. In sports predictive variables abound, and the better a coach is in defining them the more success they tend to have.

Even now some of the SFN guys seem hesitant to sit down and enjoy the ride

Call it cautious optimism rt. You have to admit the early going left room for plenty of head scratching. Take out Az and then lose to some nobodies. Even those first 3 ACC games were tough. But this team grew up quick. I think they finally saw KK’s system and how it works and BOOM! Success. I just love it for them. And I love it for Pack fans. Highly successful football and Directors cup ranking and now this. I told a friend of mine at work who is a Pack fan that I can’t wait for Baseball and then Lace ’em up and hit somebody! I think 2018 could wind up being a very good year for the Pack!

3 of 4 would be nice… BUT… the way this team is playing 7 – 1 is possible down the stretch AND .. AND .. that could get us to the 4 game bracket in the ACC tourney. I LOVE the sound of that!!!

What a difference a year makes. Maybe we don’t make the dance this year, maybe we do, BUT it’s gonna be fun. The pack will become the team no one wants to play.

CD, now THAT is funny. I’m sitting here in my favorite State shirt, drinking a cool one, waiting for smoked chicken to come off my smoker that the wife unit got me for my birthday which is next week. LIFE is GRAND. The last two meetings of State and UNX we are 2 – 0, yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaa! “Is this heaven?” “No, it’s NC State! But I hope this is what heaven looks like.”

Best game I saw was vs Maryland…Lefty with McMillan, O’Brien, Elmore, Lucas,Bodell, and Howard. At that time the teams were, #2 and #3. IMHO Reynolds finest days.

That was the best season EVER in the ACC, bar none. That particular game has been referred to many times by those in the know as the best game of all time. I know I had no fingernails left and I was completely rung out (old washing machine phrase) at the end of it.

As for the Houston game, Guy never saw V’s game plan coming. I was in the Navy stationed down in Charleston at the time. I had shipmates giving me 20 points on that game. I kept telling them V would not let them Phi, Slam, nor Jam and he didn’t. They told me I was crazy. Tuesday morning they all avoided me at every turn. Almost the the most fun day I ever had in the Navy. The most fun day I can’t discuss, LOL.

Hillsborough st was the biggest zoo I’ve ever seen after that Saturday afternoon when they beat UCLA. I can’t remember exactly where I saw this but a beer truck that was picked clean, roll-up doors on the sides were gone and so was the beer, and a VW bug balanced on top of a fire hydrant. That and a mass of people like I had never seen before. Some things defy description, that day certainly did.

Larranga took George Mason to the Final Four the same year that Sendek fled to the desert….and that’s all I’m going to say about that.

And he should have been our hire back then. And that’s all I’m going to say about THAT!

You heard this here first… Watch out for that James Madison team, yeah they are FCS BUT they also played for the championship this year and won it last year. That’s one tough bunch and they could easily catch us in the overlooking mode. That game scares me.

Grey, I think part of it for Payton also happened when he tore that ACL. the perspective from the bleachers is much different than from the sidelines or in the game. He probably saw something that just didn’t sit right with him with UNX, or he had never really considered any other options. In either case I’m sure glad he came our way, he has what it takes to make a long lasting impression for the pack.

Next man up will be Reggie Gallaspy

Could be, but RG doesn’t have quite the breakaway speed. My point here is that the caliber of the recruits now are upgrades from where they were 4 years ago. TOB and CTC for that matter NEVER had a class like this from top to bottom. Yeah we had a smattering of 4 and 5 stars but this class has a minimum of 3 stars all the way through with some darned good 4 stars. And with that comes the possibility that the next man up could easily be that shining star that bypasses those first years in the backup role. In many ways Person reminds me of Matt Dayes. We also sputtered without Hines.

No matter what I am excited about this incoming class. As the old Bill Deal and the Rhondells song says “Nothing succeeds like success”. While this year had a few points where we were oh so close to having a really great year think back to 2016. The difference in being 6-6 or 7-5 and 9-4 can be razor thin. In 2016 our coulda wasn’t anywhere close to our coulda this year which from my perspective was 11-2. And from my point of view our coulda was what caused Payton Wilson to choose us over UNX. Winning on the field is what wins in the living room of great high school players. And great high schoolers have what you cannot teach, speed and size.
