I just couldn’t stand to watch and cut off the TV when they called timeout @ 78-77. I was pretty sure it was headed to OT. I was really shocked when I saw the final this AM. Y7 was a LOAD. He coulda banged one home from Hillsborough St. In future games if the inside big has to slide out to cover him that could really open up the lane. KK went through a tough stretch when Johnson was MIA. Hopefully his return will just mean really good things down the road.

Hmmmm, I wonder how much the Troll lost. That was a ball breaker on the Vegas lines. >90 points hung on DOOK? The single letter K was clearly NOT HAPPY. Yep, fun day to be a wolp facker. AND, AND, ANDDDDD UNX looked REALLY bad. To quote the church lady “Isn’t that SPECIAL?”

It does amaze me how many prodigious football (and tons of other sports) minds there are on this board and yet so few get a call (none actually). One would think that ADs everywhere would read the posts and immediately pick up the phone.

And BTW…Iverson should have sat his butt in a jail cell for 3 more years. He was a thug to the nth degree. Got caught doing 100 MPH on I-64 with a concealed handgun…no permit, and over an ounce of weed. Think he paid a price for any of that? NOPE! One would think he graduated from UNX.

Freeman is a broke down Allen Iverson. He really thinks he’s something else, I’ll tell you what.

That is all on KK. KK should sit Freeman’s butt on the bench if he ain’t gonna play team ball.

Tau, I’d say his contributions to Wolfpack success are just as important as any of those guys. And consider he is at the top of the heap receivers wise and not that far behind Brown in TDs. Just sayin’. Bare minimum he deserves a spot in that ring.

We need another JaySam! Dudes, that guy was the bomb. #1 should be retired. Just sayin’. He beat out Holt and Cotch. And he was fun to watch. And it didn’t matter if the D lined up to stop him most times they didn’t. He is easily one of the top 5 players ever at State, and most times he made it look easy. I for one will miss him.

I’m not sure KK had a choice.

According to the school’s code of conduct, a student-athlete charged with a felony crime will be immediately and indefinitely suspended from athletics participation, pending the final disposition of all charges.

It was largely out of his hands. There is a pre-trial conference this morning.

At least the forecast is not frigid there. Almost every bowl game I’ve watched so far has been cold. At least the one in Detroit was indoors. If that one had been outdoors it would have been a real bear, polar bear that is. -1 at game time. THAT is FREAKING cold, which it’s going to be here for the next 10 days or so. Stay warm folks and enjoy the Pack on the tube.

Funny story tractor57, back in my navy days lots of the food service guys (we called them ‘mess cranks’) took classes at J&W during off crew time. It didn’t help them a bit, the food still sucked. Many a meal was missed by taking a glance at what was being served, LOL, I would rather just go to sleep.

No, Chubb came back because lots of sources picked State to have a really good defense this year. We did lose some pretty good coverage guys though (not great mind you) and that was more telling than anything. In spite of that Chubb had a banner year and will get the job with the bucks to go with it. I wish we could find 10 more of him.

Nope, check out how Roof’s defenses have been ranked over the years. He was DC for Auburn when they won the NC. GT has been consistently ranked high on the defensive side under Roof.

one thing I’d add Grey, Roof’s defenses have consistently ranked very high both in conference and nationwide. When you’re talking to a potential recruit it means a lot if that kid knows he’ll be playing on a defense that is recognized to be one of the best. I have no doubt that was probably one of the reasons Chubb decided to come back for his senior year, and now that will pay off for him on draft day, and paycheck day.

Rye, there are many foods that I judge where ever I eat. My all time favorite way to have a cheeseburger is with only chili (grew up on those things). On Ashley Phosphate Road in North Charleston is a place called Roberts Barbecue. THE BEST I’ve ever had PERIOD. They also serve a mustard based barbecue and it is totally different than either version of NC ‘cue. When the wife and I go to Roberts it’s a chili cheeseburger and a barbecue sandwich with onion rings and fries. A few years back friends of mine were visiting Charleston and on their way home they ate lunch at Roberts and brought us back a bag of takeout!!! Wonderful surprise.

    Couple of other Charleston places:

Poogan’s Porch (very nice Shrimp and Grits)

Poogan’s in Charleston was one of our go to places since forever, Yes, theirs is the best S&G in Charleston IMO. Peanut Butter Pie! YUM! Boiled Peanut Succotash is the most interesting and totally unique side item I’ve ever had, plus being a boiled peanut “nut” it fit me perfectly. Eat there once and you’ll return often.

Also 82 Queen is top notch, the name is the address.

Our most favorite in the Holy City is Old Town, right on the corner of King and Market streets near the slave market. Best Greek food around! Back in the 80’s they had their chickens roasting on a spit that blew the smoke out on the sidewalk. The smell would drag customers in from blocks around. When they remodeled the city inspectors made them modify their exhaust, too bad.

Every year they have a Greek Festival in Charleston on Mother’s Day weekend. It’s a blast! Great food and it puts the Raleigh Greek Festival to shame.

DD made comments about the 4-2-5 so I don’t think so. At any rate Roof IS a great defensive mind and the rankings of his teams proves that fact. I’m not sure but he may have no inspirations of returning to the HC title. For those who feel we needed help on the D side of the ball, Roof should fit that bill.

BOTB, my great granddaddy had an old mule and what they called a juicer. Smashed their own sugar cane and made their own molasses and cane syrup. Been 55 years since I saw that thing turn. Was sittin’ here thinking what the BEST thing I ever ate was. Has to be my grandma’s pear preserves and butter in her biscuits. I could tear up a full pan of biscuits with that stuff.

Mc, My grandma’s was THE darn BEST place to eat. The fact that it is not germaine to a public place to eat is of no consequence. As Sheriff Buford T Justice would say “The damn German’s got nothin’ to do wit it. (Smokey and the Bandit…1977).

REAL close. My grandma’s biscuits and cane syrup, fried chicken, crowder peas, corn, sliced cukes and maters, okra and plenty of sweet tea, and her Coconut Cake with 7 minute frostin’ for desert! THAT was a meal. Seen many a fight over that last biscuit or drum stick. She had a huge kitchen and dinning room with a table that could seat 20. You were in tall cotton when ya got to sit at the “big table” for Sunday dinner. Ain’t no meal no place that ever topped that. If that table isn’t in Heaven and I get there I have to admit I might be a bit disappointed.

There ain’t a whole lot to say about PA restaurants…
been all over up there… just everyday decent food and all the chains…
nothing unique… except for Philly Cheese Steaks..

BOTB, I rarely disagree with you BUT…
There’s this place in Blue Ball PA (Lancaster County area). Shady Maple Smorgasbord. Now you may think Yogi’s off his rocker in proposing a buffet place. Until you’ve been you have NO IDEA. Imagine Golden Corral on HGH and steroids PLUS, PLUS the food is really REALLY good. They have about 20 cash registers to take your money faster. Parking for 40 tour buses. And it’s about the size of two football fields. You can check out their nightly dinner features on their web site (Prime rib night is 20 bucks, and almost as good as what I cook, and includes beverages). Run by Dutch Mennonites. I lived in upstate NY for 4 years and a friend told us about it before we came “home” for a visit at Christmas. If I’m anywhere within 100 miles and have time we will sojourn there. And their breakfast!!! 10 bucks and it will be the best breakfast you have ever had at that price point. The baked french toast is to die for. 20 different kinds of pancakes with REAL maple syrup. If I could invest in that place I’d roll my 401K into it.

Grey, yesterday was the 50th anniversary of the death of my grandfather who raised me. He’s buried in Arlington. I think every kid should have to visit there before graduating from high school. The graves of the unknown soldiers are awe inspiring.

As for eating near Arlington, Bob & Edith’s Diner is THE, THE. THE place to eat breakfast IF you can get in. We waited 45 minutes and it was worth every second.

Trust me Rye, I’m far from a food snob, if it’s good I’ll eat it, within reason. I draw the line at o’possum. Yep, capt Stanley’s does sell stuff out of a can but it’s hard to find cole slaw in a can so that’s usually fresh, and frozen french fries have been everywhere for a very long time. I will go there for the senior fried shrimp plate if forced to.

As for Oak Leaf in Pittsboro, the first time I went there they had Golden Tile fish. OFF THE SCALE! Too bad that is not readily available, it was delicious. They usually have one or more fish items and it’s always fresh. Wife had a ribeye that was pretty good too.
