Of course Woodson is not irreplaceable but things done on his watch have been well. I do hope he sings on for more.

SaccoV I agree entirely. Every team needs some of that type player. I am excited about what has been done so far under DD.

SaccoV I agree. We need talent (coaches and players) but we should never forget the need for that atmosphere. I remember my freshman year Holtz would not start a running back who was ripping up practices. That until early season losses forced him to reconsider his stance. Ted Brown who was lightly regarded coming out of HS and who eventually became Mr Everything for us and had a stellar pro career. Those things do happen but yes are rare. Even so we should not stifle that…

I see improvement. Strong recruiting, better on field coaching and apparently better relationships with HS coaches in NC. The next question is will we lose some excitement if we step back a bit during the upcoming season. I don’t think we will but it is always possible. At this point I am optimistic.

I agree with 44 – been really quiet of late. Of course we come here for information and informed opinions. I’m thinking the outage has had some effect but since the days of the “epic thread” a lot has been lost. I guess we need an outside force to unite us – like the boys over at the hump on the dump.

I might wager a fiver but this is filled with problems.

I wish Y7 well but I’m with Rick here – vexing for sure.

After a near freeze last night we might have a couple days of Spring now.

BP I’m also befuddled by this move. Not sure what Yert gains by sitting out a year. In addition the NBA game has changed greatly since Ewing played. Yes he is one of the greats but I am not so sure he can teach the 3 PT shot which is now the be all end all. I saw Y7 progress greatly last year – still not a first round pick but progressing nicely. Unless there is money involved I see no benefit in that transfer. It is possible KK used the “waver wire” but that also seems unlikely

Yes and my point – either all removed or none. Try as the might football is a collision sport. Changing that will massively change the game but maybe we are at that.

I’m afraid this will not turn out well for Y7. His choice and I support that but he is already pushing the age limit for new NBA players.

AT you might be spot on but I still don’t see this – if kickoffs are a safety issue (and they are) my choice would be to eliminate them. More effective?
not sure. Football is (as Lombardi said) a collision sport.

I agree CD but I still don’t how this makes a difference in player safety.

I’m all for player safety but I don’t know how this helps that.

The tell will come when DD has to replace his staff. Eventually that will happen as they move on – I’m glad they are here and the contributions they bring but as we know things will change good or bad. DD has done well by his staff but that will not be forever. At this point I’m happy with the program (note program and not a single season).

4:30 AM and 33 F – don’t think any planting for a week or so. The grain farmers here have applied a knock down herbicide and they will probably plant their corn late next week. In my garden plans made but on hold until mother nature gets over this hissy fit.

It is offseason for football and basketball. How Yow done her jab? I think so but we will see. Minus Gott (and coming in a bad situation) I see no real issue. Budget seems to be in order. Non money sports are doing well, basketball and football seemingly on the rise. If you think different bring i sweaty Gary.

I’m a baseball fan but not a MLB fan. Give me a minor league game, a ‘dog and a cold beer and the warm sun. Much cheaper with a minor league game plus you can sit much closer to the game. Instant replay in baseball – I’ll pass even if it means losing some “accuracy”. We can see what that has done to the NFL, college football and college men’s basketball.

I was saddened to hear Rusty Staub passed. I always like him even if I hated the team he was playing for.

I think Y7 would go after the past season so I’m not surprised. It seems he got what he wanted and Gott got what he wanted. KK did a better job with Y7 than Gott. Longterm he would not fit well with KK’s plans but for one year he filled a role excellently.

If the better team won what does that say about the glorified #1 in the tourney.

No issues with the progress of the team – just wish I didn’t see “in commercial break” for most of the second half.
