Just in…..UNCheat is scared and started this rumor to shake us up….I wonder if it will work. Time will tell.

On a positive note (I’m stretching a little), Gott has taken the stress out of the game for us…Whether it’s down 15 or up 15 we get the same result and we know it from the tip-off….no stress.

’84, I know it was a different time and a different game, but David T is still the best player I ever saw at the college level…if he could have played as a freshman, been allowed to dunk and had the 3 pt. shot, there may be records that wouldn’t be broken….and he would have never quit on his team, crap it almost killed him and he still walked back in the coliseum after being released from the hospital..DSJ won’t quit either, and should not be ‘allowed’ to quit his team. It would set back the one and done concept in a big way. (not all a bad idea). If college basketball is just a developmental league for the NBA then it doesn’t matter, but if it is a sport played at the university level with education as the goal then it should not happen…if you let it happen then let UNCheat walk and forget all the other rules…

Great post and explanation of defensive weakness. there’s no doubt that Gott’s teams don’t excel at defense and he ‘probably’ knows this..He talks of having an open door. Why not take this thru his open door and point out the obvious. Heck you might even get a job out of it…Maybe he really doesn’t get it. Showing him ‘his’ weakness might be the only thing that helps him correct it…..just sayin’

It’s a national epidemic….last year there were over 700 transfers. We are in the ‘participation trophy generation’…..penalty is not stiff enough for transfers. Sit out a year and loss of year eligibility would slow this down. These kids are playing for themselves not for the school that recruited them. No loyalty from the players (or coaches either). The free agency got this crap started. That’s why I have trouble watching MLB anymore. Rosters change like revolving doors.

Cat may not be looked at as a point guard, but as a 2. Coming back would give him the chance to play the 2 with DSjr. at the point. I believe NBA scouts will let him know this. Another year will be invaluable to him and any NBA team looking. We all think he can play with the best of them, but we thought the same about Trevor and Lo too. (Leslie not so much). If he gets good advice and he listens he’s coming back and we have a competitive team again…..

Duke is not only mad, they have the refs gushing all over them for the screw job at the end of the Syracuse game. (if you haven’t seen the post game interview, do it. It’s ‘amazing’). We will have to play 2 halves as good as the first last night to even have a ‘chance’. Our bigs won’t be playing much.

How about Jalen McDaniels at RB until he’s needed at QB. Hope he’s not needed. That guy can run. Next year he’s going to have to. Let’s get him some time on the field. He can also throw. That’s opens up the play book a little.

Speaking of kicking..what’s up with that? I know they were having a kicking competition before the season started. We need another one now…Maples can knock the crap out of the ball and usually pretty straight…I know Bambard is a freshman, but he’s missing FGs that high schoolers should be able to hit. Clemson won’t let us get away with any of that…

So in 2016 MAYBE – Abu?, Bam, Smith, Martins, Dorn, Kirk, Henderson, Anya, Freeman, Rowan?

Talk about counting your chickens. But it is off-season. Might as well add in Papa.

Funny thing about ‘Lack of Institutional Control’, when they had COMPLETE control for 18+ years. I’ll always believe they knew all or most of what was going on and controlled the outcome that was expected. I’m also still pessimistic about how big the ‘hammer’ will be. Probation = nothing, Fines = nothing. Unless heads roll, banners come down, scholarships lost and post-season bans are implemented then it will be a soft hammer…..

And, talking about a free-flowing game. How about not having a time-out every 2 minutes. Kills me when a TV time-out follows a coaches time-out 30 seconds later. And, don’t get me started on checking replay. Good grief.

We have about 7 months to brag a little about this team. And if I recall when that game started last night we were one of twelve left. So, making it to the Terrific Twelve is my story…. If the boys stick together they will be better next year. If any of them have a summer like buckets did between his freshman and soph. year they may be impressive. I think Abu and the Martins are athletic enough to pull that off. Cats already turned the corner. Go Pack..

I hope you’re right about the turnovers. Washington and the Martins are my concerns. Kids these days are not very patient with playing time. Next year’s starters are probably already in place with Henderson replacing Turner. Whatever is keeping Washington off the floor needs to be fixed. I still couldn’t believe he didn’t play the last 5 minutes when he was our only scoring threat inside. (and outside too). Good year though. Next year should be better if they stay together…..

Hey we’re getting a little off line here. We ALL have a little racism, intolerance, and or stupidity in us. Some of you have tipped your hat in that direction already. You should at least keep folks guessing. King Karl definitely hated people of color (other than blue), his motto was: if you ain’t blue then screw you…..but his worst problem was power and control. He didn’t want to give that up or be told he was wrong. We should rejoice in his exit, but don’t for a minute think his influence or friends are gone. Red is still a color that several bigots with a whistle are not fond of….just sayin’

Not to be ‘too’ critical, but we might need someone to throw the long ball. Hope that is a point of emphasis this spring. At least overthrows aren’t picked off…

Its time we become the defensive team that gives us hell every year. We have 10 guys that can play. That’s 45 fouls and still leaves 5 guys on the court. Recruit, teach, coach defense and rebounding. Offense will take care of itself with rebounds, steals, fastbreaks, etc. AND, find someone that can handle the ball. If the officials are not going to call it close, then don’t play like they are….

I think the wrong point guard left campus. At least Tyler could pass (find a shooter) and hit foul shots…very disappointed in Cat this year. Sure was hoping for a newer, better version than what we had last year…

I was all for ‘getting on with it’ to, but the slower they go the more they know. The latest article brought out the ‘gifts’ that Wayne W (Roy’s boy) gave to Crowder for her help. Take a little longer and they might even find the cash that changed hands. Won’t ever believe that these folks did it just to help out the kids. Follow the money…..

I think your title ‘In the Eyes of a State Fan’ says a lot. We ‘all’ know what should happen and hope their is justice somewhere, someday. But, after years of not seeing this and expecting little to come of it, don’t be surprised if the punishment doesn’t fit the crime. Emmert is already saying things like ‘if the report is true’ and the NCAA will do their own investigation. All the ‘extra’ stuff in emails and such will more than likely not get a second look. I do believe they will be forced to react, but not in a way that a State Fan would expect. Outside forces may call their hand, but that has happened before and little came of it. Since it now has national attention the academic side of things may get hit, but I’m not expecting the athletic side of things to get more than stern talking to. After all, Roy didn’t know….but in the ‘eyes of a State fan, we know.

I’ve been paying attention to this site for a while now and here are my observations..The “fan” portion of this forum is no where to be found. Most of you might as well be wearing blue. These ‘kids’ are just that, kids. Someone’s son and grandson. Don’t know how many of them read this stuff, but sure hope not many. You bash the kids, the coaches, the refs (well maybe that’s alright), and even each other. You can’t understand how we can’t build a program that competes with the blues. We have had enough transfers to field a pretty good NBA team. Why did they leave? Maybe they read these columns. I’ve seen ‘many’ kids come and go. Some druggies, amphibians, dumb as sticks, etc. We have a great bunch of kids here now, that want to be here (for now), smart, talented, and hopefully thick skinned. They need our support in good and bad games, up and down emotions. Coaches need time and support to get the job done. Let’s try to keep the ones we have and hopefully others will follow. The coaches’ jobs will be much easier if we don’t run their players off and ‘turn off’ recruits. How about putting the ‘fan’ back in StateFans Nation…Just sayin; Go Pack..
