VA, great work. That was an awesome post. Only two teams I immediately recognized were State and SMU. Great details walking through the final teams.

My question is how was BYU in. I still don’t understand how they got in, especially with losing their #2 scorer this week and several bad losses.

Great victory. Beat one Yankee team tonight, got the other Yankee team tomorrow (although if the refs called it the same at the end of the game Rod Hall has 2 FTs for the victory for Clemson).

I think SMU and Tennessee are in the dance.

But agree with wufpup, let’s just win the ACC and not mention the 3 letter tournament again.

Syracuse beat Clemson so State will be playing the Orange tomorrow at 11. The Pack beat the Orange by 8 or so earlier in the year at Reynolds.

I was in NYC back in 2004 and I saw a sidewalk vendor selling the matryoshka dolls. One of them was of NC State football. I bought it. The largest one was Philip Rivers. Inside of it, there were dolls of Koren Robinson, Ray Robinson, Brian Peterson (spelled Reterson), and Levar Fisher. Still have it up in my bonus room.

Very cool. Good for him. I hope he succeeds. Never can have enough SEALs.

Don’t forget that we lost two important cogs from last year. Bryan Adametz in LF and Grant Sasser as a relief pitcher. Saw Adametz at the game today.

One minor thing. It is Bubby Riley, not Bubba.

This team is very good, no matter that they lost today. Remember that Rodon gave up 3 homers in an opening day loss to App State last year and everything turned out OK.

It is going to be very interesting to see how a few things fall into place this year:

    1. The Bullpen
    2. The corners. New people at both 1B and 3B.
    3. Hitting depth. We lost 4 starters in the field from last year. Today Avent started 4 guys that were not on the roster last year in their place, and we moved Fincher from RF to CF. Makes me wonder about where Nance, Taylor, Armstrong, etc. are.
    4. Catcher. Austin is a great talent but Avent needs to get some more confidence in Mangum, Cavannaugh, etc and use them more throughout the season, even if you then put Austin at DH. Austin wore down last year in May/June. His batting average dropped 30 or so points in the last month.

All that being said, this team has the capabilities of being in Omaha. Some things will obviously need to go right, but they know what it takes.

Just to be clear, Rodon will not be pitching that game. Nor should you expect Jernigan or Stone to start. Those are the weekend starters and this is going to be treated as a mid-week game, unless something extraordinary changes.

Good comeback win last night. Very impressive. The players are playing hard and well. Good balance between the backcourt and frontcourt. Coach Moore has his players completely buy in and now look at the results. When I see how he started, I remember the great quote:

It is better to be the one after the one who replaces the legend than to be the one who replaces the legend.

    Chip Brown ?@ChipBrownOB
Louisville coach Charlie Strong will replace Mack Brown as the head coach at Texas, according to a high-ranking UT source.

All of a sudden, replacing Maryland with Louisville doesn’t seem as daunting. New coach, new QB coming to the ACC.

The best part of the mom being interviewed is the money quote:

Her biggest concern seemed to be what Coach Saban’s reaction would be when reporters question him about it.

“I’m embarrassed. I love The Tide and I apologize to all the players and to Coach Saban and to the entire fan base. I’m sorry. Coach Saban’s going to say ‘those crazy fans don’t know how to act.’ And I wasn’t intoxicated either. I want people to know that. I’d had a couple of drinks, but I was not intoxicated.”

Speed kills. I remember hearing Kevin Sumlin saying that when he was facing LSU that he was much more concerned about how Manziel and company would handle the Tigers defense than during Alabama preparations. He mentioned how much more athletic the LSU defense is. Bama’s defense is big and strong. LSU’s defense is long and athletic.

Also, not being in the title game clearly made this a glorified exhibition.

Personally, I would love to see Saban go to Texas (or anywhere). Bama fans would destroy the internet if he left. It would be so priceless.

Case in point. I saw this on Facebook today:

“If Alabama lost y’all already know Auburn finna get slaughtered come Monday! Alabama only lost cause it was cold”

First comment is gold: “They was in a dome. It doesn’t get cold in there.”

    Bama fans. Awesome.

Enjoyed listening to Zarzour, in spite of his Alabama background. I loved his initial take on his radio show. It was so spot on it wasn’t funny.

    Good luck to Zarzour.

Hopefully they can deal better with playing ACC teams that have a little more height (see game vs. Tennessee).

The bullpen got a huge boost over the weekend.

@KendallRogersPG: BREAKING: #NCState gets boost, as talented prospects, #Temple LHP Patrick Peterson, RHP Eric Peterson transferring there.

@KendallRogersPG: Elliott Avent was just telling me a couple of weeks ago how the bullpen was a concern for the #Wolfpack. Now, w/ Peterson brothers, clarity.

    Eligible immediately.

@RyanTice: Between the 2 of them, the Peterson bros from Temple will bring 57 appearances with them to Raleigh. 38 starts, 12-15 rec, 277.1 IP, 223 K
