Very impressive outing by both Brown and Britt.

Going to need even more hitting tomorrow. Very good win over a NCAA tourney team today.

Probably assured a spot in the NCAA tournament after today’s win.

Could move up to a 2 seed if the team keeps winning.

    3-0 State through 7.

Brown was lights out. 10 K and 2 hits in his 6 innings.

In the first 2 innings, great 2 out hitting gave State the 3-0 lead.

Outside of Brown, the most discussed aspect by the commentators has been the State K Crew fan putting up all of the strikeouts.

    Going tomorrow and Saturday night.

Hopefully it won’t be impacted too much since the kiddos will be with us.

Good to see the cheaters lose.

So, best plans are to win today and tomorrow and have ND beat UVA. Therefore, State could clinch the title game before playing UVA.

Congrats to the women! Another AD Yow home run. Great hire of Coach Rychcik a few years ago. First, he won an ACC title. Now he has gotten to their first Super Regional.

Good luck out in Nike-land next week against Oregon!

Great sweep. In good position now. I thought 4-2 in the last 6 games would be enough to ensure pool play in the ACC as well as a spot in the NCAA. I am pretty sure that one victory this weekend puts them in the NCAA for sure.

Keep up the winning streak. What is great to see is that they aren’t depending on one player only. Riley, Dunand, Ratledge, Fincher, Knizner, Palmeiro, etc. All have contributed to winning over the past few weeks. That is the mark of a good team and one that has bought in. Really impressive.

Nice sweep of WF. 9-6 in a rain delayed game.

State set a team record tonight. 6 HBP. Our staff plunked more hitters than Wake had hits (6-5).

9 game winning streak. At just the right time.

Rpi is up to 43. Another win and even winning only 1 if 3 would put the rpi in the 30s

Need to win at least 2 of 3 this weekend and then just don’t get swept by Louisville to have a good shot at making the NCAA. But forget that, let’s try to go no worse than 4-2 over the last 6 games. They are playing well lately. In the last few games, they have done better at manufacturing runs. I saw some good sacrifices against Longwood and Campbell. That will be needed throughout the duration of the year. It was good to beat Campbell (heck anyone) in a no doubt no sweat type of game. Haven’t had that in a while.

Good luck to the ladies as well.

Wufpacker, not sure if you saw this but I was watching 60 Minutes Sports on Showtime the other night and they had on a clip about the Cape Cod League. In it, one of the main players interviewed was Jake Fincher. Cool stuff.

Nice writeup. Being out of town stunk for missing the twinbill yesterday. But…

Think about what the baseball team did today in the of not one but two must win games.

    1. State had not had a walk off win since Game 1 of the Super Regional against Rice. Let that settle in. No walk off victories in 2014 (big reason they didn’t make the NCAA).

No walk off wins this year either…until today.

    2. State was 0-6 in one run games this year.

    3. State had lost 8 of their last 12.

    Congrats Pack9!

Let’s have this start a streak.

I fully expect the ACC teams to be Duke and Syracuse, especially being the first year. If they want to make it a big thing, the first year you bring in the two biggest draws in NYC…that is easily Duke and Syracuse.

Congrats to Gwizz! 2 time champ, undefeated season! He will try to make it 3 in a row next year.

Don’t forget Kevin Jack, an unseeded freshman, finished 5th at 141 lbs. He beat the #4, #5, and #12 wrestlers to bring home 5th place, which is extremely exciting.

No need to watch this game tonight everyone. As this website says:

Villanova awaits, and it will take a completely out of character, mistake-free, Herculean effort by the Wolfpack to still be in the game by the second half. Villanova has earned every bit of their one seed, and as the statistics show, NC State similarly ‘deserved’ their eight seed and stumbled into the second round. Have faith in the stats, Nova Nation: Villanova is very much in the driver’s seat, and NC State is merely a speed bump.

So let us just get ready for the other ACC games today.

They played well on the weekend. It was good to see. I don’t think Clemson is the typical Clemson team, but still it was a series win. It will be interesting to see how this team plays the next couple of series on the road. This weekend, with school on spring break, they go to #20 Miami. Then, they go to Boston College. I have heard rumors that the BC series is being moved to Chattanooga because Boston is still under 628 feet of snow. Not sure about that. Would love to see this team go 4-2 over the next couple of series.

Historically, starting (or even playing) senior walk-ons (or non-rotation seniors) is something that Gottfried doesn’t do.

First year as coach. Alex Johnson, a senior graduate transfer played but did not start in his last home game.

2nd year as coach. Jay Lewis, a senior, did not start but played one minute in his last home game. Scott Wood and Richard Howell, seniors who normally started, both started and played in their last home game.

3rd year as coach. Jevoni Robinson, a senior, did not start nor play in his last home game. Jordan Vandenberg, a senior who was in the starting lineup normally, did start and play in his last home game.

I apologize if I missed anyone else.

But don’t expect anything different on Saturday. The starters will most likely be Lacey, Barber, Turner, Freeman, and Abu.

    It is what it is.

maverick_ncsu, it is possible that Hess could ref a NCAA game. Absolutely. Could he ref a game involving an ACC school? Absolutely.
Since they are independent contractors, the NCAA selects the officials. Would the NCAA put Hess in a game involving an ACC school? I seriously doubt it.

For your second question, you have that backwards. At least for the Power 5 conferences, referees are traditionally from the road team’s conference, just like in football.

But seeing as the AAC among other conferences are reviewing Hess as a ref now, there is a good chance he will not be refereeing anymore.

The weird thing is why it wasn’t the flex game? And I thought that all basketball GameDay decisions were done before the season began. Has this changed?

I get Kansas @ Iowa State. I really do. Hoiberg has Iowa State with as much relevancy in a major sport as they have had over the past decade. Maybe they wanted to go do something not named Duke…appear not to be UNC-CHeat/Duke biased.

Very good must win. Turner was obviously en fuego. The three he hit from almost the wolf was Dunleavy-esque. Very impressive.

After a brief scare by missing 3 or 4 FTs in a row, the team calmed down and hit their last 9 to put away the win. Good job.

Saturday’s game will be a big one. Good opponent, MSG, Saturday night national TV. Let’s see what they can do in Gotham.

The best play of the year was Brissett vs. FSU.

The most important play of the year (and of the Doeren era so far) was McKeever’s pick six.

If he doesn’t pick that off, Syracuse makes it at least 17-9 and they had all the momentum and our offense hadn’t doing anything since halfway through the 2nd quarter. Who knows if State would then come back and win.

Always need to be ready. Look at Purdue. After beating us, they lost last Saturday at home to North Florida 72-70.
