Hopefully this is a new coach blib and as he gets his system in place things will smooth out.
He definitely sense on to of things as opposed to being caught like a deer in the headlights.

People come here for informed opinions and my opinions are so uninformed I don’t see any reason to post them anymore. That and this site is not the place for a quintessential optimist. ;-).

Personally I love your optimism even if I argue against it sometimes. Everyone needs the yin to the yang.

This still does not make sense.
It is not a particularly good look for us.
You just don’t see all acc players transfer.

    Grey,
To answer your question. I had heard about the payments to dsj. And I am not particularly connected. If I heard about then I think it is safe to assume the administration knew about it.

If we are a victim it’s because we played the ‘heart be evil see no evil’ game. They knew what they had with Gott. I hope they insulated the school.

Gott was dirty. Everyone knew it. He was a scum bag. I imagine this probe stays with the coaches and not ncsu. Nonetheless it name gets dragged through the mud. Hopefully it doesn’t impact recruiting.
Gott is the gift that keeps on giving.

    Grey,
Thanks for the posts. I enjoyed reading them.
I love your optimism and really hope you are right about DD.

For the record my main complaint about You had been her revenue hires and coach friendly contacts. We all knew she would get us higher in the directors cup.

Actually Hux is an inspiring human being. I heard him on a video and I wanted to run through a brick wall for him. Being great human beings is the one thing our coaches all have in common. Dave wouldn’t have it any other way.

This does seem to be the case. I really like Drink and read a great story about a coach who went with our punter on mission trip. It wasn’t even there punters position coach.

His long range planning is his long suit and if his study shows we’d best go with 4-2-5, I’m all in.

Dumb question. How do you know this? Had he been somewhere that has proven this strength? I am not saying it isn’t a strength (I honestly have no idea) but I was just wondering what evidence you have for this claim.

Rick, I was afraid a new football thread in April would not get off the ground, thus I picked a “hot” thread from the past. Seems to have worked and a number of folks are enjoying the conversation.

    Touche

It was a very good wiley veteran move.

Interesting thread. Funny to pull it back up after two years. Maybe I should grab some of those old Gott threads 😉

I am still not sure what to think about DD. It was a very good year but also could have been a special year. When I see the talent we had on defense it makes me believe we under performed. I like everything I read about DD. He seems to go after high character kids.
I don’t like the long term contact Yow handed him. Contacts had always been one of Yow’s weak points imo.

I enjoyed the basketball this year. It was a very unexpectedly good year. I am a little concerned about the defense. We got burned way too many times. Jay Wright has proceed you don’t need to ten recruiting classes but a good system and player development. Here’s to hoping KK’s system is even close that that level of success.

Btw I have a feeling I will be watching a lot of wbb in the future. They are fun to watch. The women’s championship game was fantastic.

The women’s game is pure. And girls are great teammates. I’ve coached boys and girls and would much rather coach girls. Can’t wait to coach my daughter in a year or two.

    She’s. Money hasn’t corrupted it.
And yes, you will absolutely love coaching your daughter.

    Nice….

IF there was ever any doubt…

    She’s Hooked !!!

    GO Rick!

    I hope so.
I had the best time just discussing the game with her. The subtleties of both the offense and defense.
Truthfully, the women’s game is much more similar to basketball as I played it.

Coach Rick! — Did you and your girl make it to the game… I hope so!

Yes. She and I had a great time.

    Don’t forget Gary Clark.
He wanted to come to State but Gott didn’t want him. Not enough stars. It was obvious he was a call player.
Eh, he would have been wasted under Gott any way.

An unexpectedly good year. I hate the ending but it’s hard to get upset given what KK did with a patch work if players.

I want to see better defense next year. It was bad most of the time this year. The question I have is why. If it the system, the players, both, or maybe a leaving curve. At least we have something to look forward to next year.

For me any success in the tournament is gravy.
This year was an unexpected surprise.
What I really want to see in the future is tightening up the defense. Do that and KK will have a long and successful career here.

    Botb,
There is a lot more money involved now than ever. We are taking hundreds of millions. There is no question in my mind some teams are given more opportunities. There is not a level playing field.

It’s just not worth the emotional or monetary investment to me anymore. I watch most state games. The only other college basketball game I watched this year was the ACC title game.

    Rye,
Great post. I think you are right about the not so subtle implication that you give unc bad calls and you don’t get to ref. And people wonder why ncsu fans talk about bias.

DD gets on my nerves but maybe I need to take a second look at why…

And this is why I don’t watch much college sports any more. Money had completely corrupted it.

I guess you just stick with Tee-ball then since we now know the agents have manipulated down into rec sports trolling for tallent. Pee Wees and Tee Ball are the only ‘pure sports’ left out there!lol

BOTB, I think part of it is just that as we get older we develop other priorities and some of the stuff that seemed to matter so much just ain’t that big a deal anymore.

I tend to watch more nba it hockey than anything but I just don’t watch much sports. Your second paragraph is as much the reason as anything.
