    5. On the fourth play, Brissett floated a terrible lateral to Dayes in the flat, and he had no chance to do anything with it once he caught it, leading to a 9 yard loss (and his injury). Clemson called timeout to stop the clock with 59 seconds remaining. Brissett has got to be smart enough to read multiple Clemson defenders in position to tackle Dayes for a loss, with no State blockers in the area to help him out, and he also can’t put so much air under that ball. It would have been much better if he just pulled the ball down and ran forward and got whatever he could.

I would like to see a QB do all that in 2 seconds or less. Give the Tigers a little credit for a well timed blitz.

Stevens was closing on a football, he got chest planted with a stiffarm

Getting hosed on that particular sideline is becoming common place against the Tigers.

Both are essentially toss-up games, but I do think that Okie and NC State should be very slight favorites.

Very much agree. I like our chances this weekend-good matchups that favor the Pack.

I’m thrilled that the talking heads are all talking about Pitino and Izzo. Absolutely thrilled.

Exactly, let mouths keep talking. There’s not a team left in the EAST the pack can’t handle. I thought the Pack was double digits better then Nova.

I love this team but it’s hard to believe how bad we play at times.

The Wolfpack defense set a school record on Sunday by turning 6 double plays, and tying the ACC mark.

That’s like getting your heart yanked out and stepped on. (Ouch!!)

Kninzer behind the plate sounds interesting, can’t wait to see that and Fincher hitting 4 baggers-watch out for the #Pack9.

I guess if someone really wanted to dig… they could ask K, Roy, Rick and Jim about ANYA’s defense… they had courtside seats…

Methinks… Anthony3.0 will do his talking on the court…

Great point. Tournament motivation! Tourney MVP will be nice.

Is #4 the break between playing and not playing on Thursday ?

    That is correct.

Am I correct in that if we win out and the Holes lose to Dook… then we’re #4 ?

Louisville needs to lose 2 games and the Holes to Dook. Miami could sneak in the 4th spot if they win out. The Canes are at home tonight against the Noles, home Saturday against the Holes then finish on the road against the Panthers and the Hokies.

Right on point with your assessment coach13.

Whiteshoes our lack of physicality is product of ACC officiating and what they allow to happen on the court. What I witnessed Saturday night wasn’t basketball and it’s very disturbing to see that style of play get rewarded.

I thought our team showed some toughness in the second half and displayed a tremendous amount of character when things could have gotten ugly.

Maybe it IS for UNC-CH graduates. How many other graduates of “properly accredited institutions” would work for that?

One thing I found interesting, primarily because I didn’t understand the reasoning behind it, was the OLine was pretty much the first unit throughout. Did the O coaches want to see what Nichols and others could do behind the 1st unit or was it something else?

Curious about that myself Grey. I have to admit our O-line looked impressive. Weak competition or not, we haven’t demolished a defensive front like that in long time.

    Good stuff Jiggs.

Impressive TEAM effort by the pack last night. I’m more impressed with our toughness and how we finished the game. We completely broke Xavier’s will in the 2nd half. That’s what good TEAMS do-LOVE IT!!!

Justifying our NCAA bid feels very awesome. My apologies to Xavier for being undervalued by committee having to play its way in.

Xavier was completely out matched, causing me to rethink my Big East picks in the tournament.

Ok everybody….same EXACT clothing (assuming you were clothed) for Thursday. No washing, no ironing, regardless of the stench. This works, I swear. Survive, advance, stink worse, survive, advance……

    GOTT it.

I can live with the fact that NC State gets snubbed as long as SMU and Arz State get the same fate.

To consider a team with a Non Conference strength of schedule of 230-250 (Arz State) and 300-320 (SMU) is idiotic to me.

What about SMU? SOS 133, Non-conf SOS 306. Not that NC State deserves a bid but their resume is much better than ASU and SMU.

If you could replace our 4 games vs UNC, Duke, Syracuse with the weak sisters of the Pac 12 then it looks like we’d be about a 6 seed.

Agreed State Fans. I’m a little confused about ESPN’s love for the Pac 12.

Plus… it appears clear from here… that five straight days of practice cemented the X&0s lessons that begun in August. We played good half court offense in a game that did not have a abundance of fast breaks. Our kids, for the first time this season, looked like they all were on the same page and knew exactly what they were trying to do.

I missed the game but this sounds positive. I really haven’t seen this in 3 years. I appreciate your assessment.

There is an awful lot of RAW ABILITY, very little Talent (as defined elsewhere) and minimal BBall IQ in our young kids….
and it’s going to take a couple of seasons for most of them to be the best they can be regardless of the color of their jerseys.

bill I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment but I just don’t see things changing. Out team defense/offense hasn’t really changed in 3 years which is cause for concern.

That being said Gott and company have the opportunity to right the ship and I hope they do.
I will always be a hopeful wolfpacker.
