There is nothing to be gained except perhaps the interim coach has the competence to develop the players’ fundamentals. Since there is nowhere to go but up I say there is nothing to lose (except the buyout would be a bit larger) to pull the bandaid off immediately.

If you’re pulling for State to win games you’re pulling against the program. This Sendekian meltdown increases the chance of G being fired. The worst outcome is that we made the dance this year. The best outcome is dumbster fire.

I spared you guys all football season without posting but something about Gottfried grinds my gears. He’s atrocious. The silver lining is that he hasn’t left the cupboard bare and Archie Miller is still a phone call away. But for how long??
This triangle offense doesn’t work when you have no shooters or post scorers. We have a few slashers and that’s it. Sadly this team could be good defensively because they have laterally quick athletes. I’d love to see Tony Bennett coach our group.
Abu has a snowballs chance to ever play in the NBA. Gott has a snowballs chance to survive the next AD.
An easier question to answer is: will Gott under or over-achieve based on the team’s talent differential?
Sadly even the most handicapped of armchair analyst can answer this without hesitation and high conviction.
He’s better than Herb and Sid at least. We could do worse.
After the dance last year there were media articles mentioning us as competing for the ACC. Our best players enters draft and our best scoring post player transfers.
Meanwhile we have two junior highly regarded 4 star post players a five star 1st round PG minor and two athletic highly regarded 4 star wings with a four star freshman. How is our starting five talent wise not good enough to make the dance?
Thanks Debbie for that contract extension. Doubling down on a bad hire is a bad sign. She’s old and rich hard to say if she has the same fire in the belly she did during the honeymoon stage. My guess is not so much we are all human don’t let her public demeanor and rhetoric fool you.
TJFoose don’t mix up sports my man. With a high level of conviction I believe Mark G. is an average to below average coach. I want him out immediately because we should strive for better. Dave is much different.
I had a problem with Dave his first year b/c he took lemons and made a lemon turd sandwich. However I update my opinion based on new information (many do not there are cognitive and emotional biases at work read Daniel Kahneman’s work for more information.)
Vegas oddsmakers take into account margin of victory and standard deviation of the margin. If a team wins half their games by 1 and half by 20 points they (approximately) have the same margin of victory as a team that won all their games by 10. Which team you putting your money on?
Our team improved this year. We lost by less and were more consistent overall (Dave cites we were competitive which is coachspeak you guys still with me?) Those with strong critical thinking skills can understand that a team that wins/loses by a point (over the long run) is essentially equivalent to its opponent.
So what????? We barely lost to VA Tech and Louisville…the ball didn’t “bounce our way” which is coachspeak for….some things are just pure chance. Once could argue that by chance (through no fault of Dorhen) the outcome of those games could have flipped which would have resulted in a 9 win season.
I’m simply taking financial acumen and applying it to a different discipline. I didn’t study 4 years for the CFA in vain.
This is directed to no one in particular but if there are flaws in my analysis please point them out instead of just being a redneck and saying eerrrhhhh they took our jobs wins/losses is all that matters!!
Is a team that loses by 30 the same as a team that loses by 10?
We improved this year whether most fans have the analytical ability to look past win loss metric is their problem.
Also keep in mind that was MSUs Philip Rivers. He’s better than our QB and had a much better o-line.
Didn’t we have a shot are Mark Turgedon? That guy actually builds programs pragmatically instead of shooting from the hip recruiting talent hoping they mesh running half of them off and repeating’ “we’ve got to get better.” Other that that and his other well documents indiscretions G is a great guy and coach. His agent is even better.

Our only hope is Gott gets caught with his pants down again and can be fired with cause. We can pool our Wolfpack Club money and hire a P.I.
Gott’a teams will underperform their talent level like they have every year. Underperform by about 10-20 spots. It is variable. On paper we have a borderline 25-30ish team. I expect us to end 35-50ish RPI and sneak end and some will praise Jesus and others will wonder why we continue to settle.
Wow a lot of dramatic declarations going around. We went 0-2 against teams with terrific coaches that have been recruiting better than us for 2-3 years (our past two classes are on par with them).
Those games were 50/50 its not unheard of to lose a couple of those games you can’t flip a coin and get heads and tails every other time…over time these games will balance out. Chill. DD and staff are legit.
No shame in losing to better teams. 4-2 is meeting expectations.
Vegas had us as favorites in Louisville but we were a hard team to gauge due to our big wins over the powder puffs. Turns out our secondary sucking against those cools was indeed a canary in a coal mine.
The o-line sucks yes but Brissett has to play like an NFL QB for us to have any chance this season. We knew that going into the season. Outside of cupcake games he hasn’t been great.
Yikes Brissett’s draft stock has plummeted the past game and a’ half. Protection is awful yes, but get the ball out quicker son you think scout’s give you a free pass for having a weak line? Plenty of NFL teams have weak lines.
Having a moped accident is incredibly minor it would be terribly foolish for anyone to set the morality bar higher than average. At least it would give us an excuse for losing.

What good is attendance if the program is laughable? UNC has historically had a slight edge in football and a large edge in every other sport. We have to get better as a program for me to feel proud of these peripheral metrics.
Unfair expectations. This kid goes to any top half SEC school and no one knows who he is for 3 years. Not to mention he dropped some easy passes early on…your # doesn’t get called as often.
We need him and Cherry to develop into vertical threats by the time we play equal talent….without that dimension we are not a complete offense.
