The high post is relatively complex. We play 4 freshman. This season should be devoted to player development. Play Lewis and Anya much more and hope Lewis doesn’t transfer which looks very possible at this point. I can’t blame him.

I do day dream what a coach like Gary Williams could do with this team.

Mow that our NIT fate is almost sealed, Mark should start playing Lewis much more. Three reasons.

1- so he doesn’t transfer which is a real possibility (over 50%) from what I’m hearing.

2- the dude is at an athletic and physical disadvantage to his peers. More than others he needs grooming and acclimation to the speed of the game. This doesn’t happen without minutes.

3- Cats superiority is exaggerated. He turns ball over and doesn’t shoot the 3 well. (Lewis hits shots in practice but not in game which screams…get me minutes!!)

Mark has shown poor player development and personnel/ego management since he’s been here. This won’t change. Some people have the skill and some don’t.

What he lacks in coaching however, he makes up in recruiting. If he keeps pipeline up there is sufficient hope. If Roy and Calipari have shown anything, talent wins championships.

Anya Malik and Washington are talented enough to be an enviable front court in 2-3 years. Cat is most talented guard with nba all star potential. When did any coach ever convince a Trevor Lacey type of talent to transfer here??

Gott pisses me off bc he sucks at coaching but I would be even more pissed with Bennett who will tease UVA fans until they tear their hair out.

I live in NYC and appreciate the national news but no one outside of NC gives a damm. NCAA has provided a slap on wrist. Nothing else to see here unless a story so compelling occurs the NCAAs hand is forced. Not likely.

Big question is…who cares? We know all schools, with few exceptions, successful in sports “cheat”. It’s the equivalent to taking steroids in 90s. It’s only illogical not to “cheat”.

The funny thing is, outside of Zo, Tyler is better than any PG we’ve had since Atsur, and IMO has a much higher ceiling considering Atsur shot 3s and passed the ball in weave/heave system…put it this way, no team with serious ambitions was jealous of Atsur.

Tyler is a good PG who just happened to have bad luck b/c Gott signed an athletic freak of nature. Cat is only here 2 years at most. I think he could be an NBA pick after this year b/c his upside screams NBA All Star. He’s a steal in the 2nd round if teams are silly enough to let him slip that far. His ball handling and quickness can’t be taught. Gott told me he’s better than Mo Williams who’s made over 100 million so far.

Anyway I agree Tyler transfers but he’s silly to do so b/c he’s the starter his senior year at State with what could be a talented and deep team. If he leaves we are screwed we have no other PGs. Lacey is a 2 guard and Des is a backup 2 guard next year or inserted at 3 for small ball line up.

Seems we will be perpetually understaffed with Gott, though I can’t complain b/c at least he gets pro talent signed. We have 1 alum in NBA right now. Sad.

Ehhh Wilson and his dry Pollyanish politically correct personality makes me want to puke. I will always pull for him though. He’s alum.

Hated San Diego’s conservative game plan today. Rivers the most accurate passer in the NFL throws 6 times in first half??? You were 7 point dogs. Got lucky Andy Dalton and Gio blew the game. They were driving at will against San Diego. Playing with house money next week open up the playbook and hope Manning has one of his playoff choke jobs.

The refs felt so strange calling 3 fouls on holds to Warren they immediately negate the benefit (of a good call) on State. But this game will be more about the players/coaching just awful. Our players don’t execute this offense consistently in the half court. They don’t ever look comfortable in the halfcourt.

Imploding. Bed sheets are running brown with doo doo. I will officially accept an NIT season after this garbage.

I may give up on the season if we blow a 15 point lead. I don’t have the fortitude for this team.

This team makes you pull your hair out. 10 turnovers in 1 half? Most of them unforced??? You cut that down to 5 turnovers and make 2 of 5 shots you are up at least another 4 points.

Looking forward to some favorable calls by the refs next half. Low of averages states that one of our games the 50/50 calls will benefit us…I’m still waiting.

We were 3 point favorites…why would fans not expect to win that game?

Vegas odds are similar to stock prices. They are the “fair market value” if you will. Millions of people are involved in “pricing” the spread, including “smart money” which involves sophisticated companies who develop and utilize complex algorithms that predict game outcomes. Smart money places large bets and dictate the spread, just like hedge funds bet large money and move stock prices.

Smart money predicted we win the game last night! It takes away all bias you may have as a fan. If you are unsure of whether you should expect to win, a close game or blowout, then by all means check Vegas odds. That way you can anchor your expectation to objectivity.

    Have a nice day.

^ if warren wants to continue shooting 7 treys a game he better shoot more in practice. I’d rather see Des or Cat shoot 3s they have slightly better mechanics and shot.

Tough loss. Offensive rebounds bounced their way all night. We shoot poorly from deep. We miss FTs down the stretch – they make stupid 3s.

Not the worst game of season (see Central & Cincy) but refs favored MZ and cost us a few points. That’s fine so long as we get the reverse and win a few close games. Don’t hold your breath.

What a shame for this team to likely be NIT.

Outside of Rodon’s class, I understand our recruiting has not been top 10, so don’t get used to the ranking…

Flacco and Eli Manning: the 2 most overrated and overpaid QBs in the NFL. The average human mind is quite pathetic. Win a Super Bowl and the QB is anointed a 9 digit contract. Stupid.

During a visit to NYC, Coach Gottfried told us that Vandenburg had improved. It was the only comment in which the crowd chuckled. No mas.

Vandy was underutilized the past few years, in part b/c there were better offensively skilled forwards on the team. Also Vandy fouled too much (or at least was whistled for fouling b/c of tendencies), but part of post defense (blocking) is timing/rhythm and moving your feet, which are skills hard to develop from the bench. Must of us know Gott prefers short term gains (playing your best men) to getting minutes to develop other players.

Glad to see Gott play 9 guys, though he needs to start full court pressure at times. We have the athletes and depth to do it successfully.

Regression to the mean. Was fairly confident ECU’s perfect shooting and lucky bounce rebounding tactic would regress. We didn’t play poorly the first 10 minutes, ECU just played perfectly and had the ball bounced their way.

Over time talent wins out, especially when properly coached. This team is light years ahead of that Cincy game. Going on a 15-0 run against a C-USA team is damn impressive. This team seems to have something our teams haven’t had in decades (minus 2nd half of Gott’s first year). “IT”

How about BJ living up to the hype? Those long arms come out of nowhere opposing players are simply not used to someone with his height and girth having the longest arms of any professional basketball players ever measured.

Don’t mind patting myself on the back for forecasting our improved post defense due to personnel and not erroneously blaming Gott last year.

BJ’s wignspan is 2 inches longer than Shaq.

We likely needed this win to have a realistic chance to finish in the top 50 RPI. Let’s hope Central, Cinncy and Tennessee all have great years.

On average this season, UNC opponents have committed approx. 18% more fouls.

UNC has out-fouled their opponent in 2 of 10 games, one of which they lost @ UAB. The other was Mich. St, where the foul discrepancy was ONE.

Separate # of fouls called from FT attempts: UNC has 317 compared to 255. Only two games have opponents shot more than UNC, 8 more by Holy Cross and 17 by UAB.

Contrast to State vs. TN, where the final foul total was 20 NC State to 19 TN….seems about right…oh wait EIGHT of TN fouls came in the final two minutes when they were intentional.

So we are talking 19 State fouls to 11 TN fouls in the first 38 minutes of the game. Oh yea…we shot 6 treys to their 24.

Cincy shot 10 more FTs than us….
Central shot 12 more FTs than us (for a whopping 45 attempts)…

It appears even the Blues have objective refs every once in a while (e.g., UAB) but other than the numbers…we are a paranoid fan base.

Dakick claims to like THIS State team but I bet money he doesn’t care too much for the fans. The alumni, including Hodge, got into a Twitter brawl with him after Peurto Rico last year.

The freshman Thompson has played alot of basketball according to Dakich. No word from Dakick if this is unique for college basketball players.
