does anyone think Scott Drew is in the picture
we all know who the candidates are, we all know who everyone’s favorites are and how they rank

what are the betting odds that who is hired

    1) Wichita State – Gregg Marshall 00%
    2) Baylor – Scott Drew 5%
    3) Dayton – Archie Miller 20%
    4) Chris Holtmann – Butler 5%
    5) VCU Rams – Will Wade 30%
    6) SMU – Tim Jankovich <1%
    7) UNC-Wilmington – Kevin Keatts 35%
    8) somebody nobody has heard of and we have to Google their name 5%

    ……
IF either with 3 star talent beats Roy with his 4-5 star talent and the team that beat Gott by 52 and 30 then we MUST hire him.
but I doubt these parings will last, but man would that not be a good series to get to watch.

Jesus kid, the meth, lay off of it

I bet I am a lot older than you, what year did you graduate
    from NC State
and it did end up happening, swap UNC for KY

current ESPN Joe Lunardi Bracketology has Wichita State playing Dayton, then the winner gets UNC.
IF Marshal beats Archie and RoY Williams, then he is worth $5M everyday of the week.
IF Archie beats Greg Marshal and then beats UNC, then we may never have a chance at Archie?
IF either with 3 star talent beats Roy with his 4-5 star talent and the team that beat Gott by 52 and 30 then we MUST hire him.

I think the most relevant issues for State fans are not where UNC is seeded but where Baylor, Dayton, UNCW, VCU, Butler and Witchitachi State are seeded.

    currently Joe Lunardi has

    Dayton 9 vs Miami 8
    VCU 9 vs VT 8
    UNCW 12 vs FLA 5
    WSU 9 vs NW 8
    Butler 4 vs Princ 13
    Baylor 3 vs FGC 14

    Kansas 28-4, Villanova 28-4 solid #1’s Gonzaga 30-1 definately #1
Oregon 28-3, UCLA 27-4 Arizona 27-4 one of those should be shoo in #1 but

understand the No 1s are locked in (Gonz, Unc, Kan, Vil) with the winner of the Pac12 (Ariz/Oregon) being the highest number 2 seed. if duke wins acc they will move to 3 seed

In the last two searches it seems there was only one guy, and everyone knew who the one guy was,
then there was another different one guy, and everyone knew who the one guy was,
then there was another different one guy, and everyone knew who the one guy was

its great to have a list of 4-8 guys that honestly if any are picked, we should trust the administration that the correct hire was made.
in the past two hires, they seemed like desperation hires, doomed from the start and we convinced ourselves to feel good about the hires.I just want to know who it is and hope that I dont have to Google his name to learn who he is and where he is coming from.

    1. marshal – but too expensive
    2. archie Miller – My number one, but I have heard others say that if he was not an alumini he would not be on the list, therefore I would be very very happy with
    3. Scott Drew Baylor – My favorite non-NCSU alum, his brother is doing great at Vandy
    4. Holtmann Butler – proven he can win, but can he recruit on our level of expectations
    5. wade VCU – rising star, proven he can win and proven he can recruit
    6. Keatts UNCW – risky but may be the guy, can he recruit highschool talent to stay in school for 4 years?

Georgetown would be an appropriate level jump for Keatts, if so. They could use ANY kind of injection of instant energy.

if Keatts were to go to Georgetown, our luck would be that he would end up winning 4 national championships there.
replay of, we could have hired Marshal or Miller 10 years ago

    http://www.wralsportsfan.com/raleigh-co-hiring-marshall-would-prove-nc-state-is-serious-about-elite-status/16573270/

If administration or boosters balk at the price – they have to buy out Gottfried, after all, and pay Marshall’s Wichita State buyout – respond with three words.

    “Are we elite?”

    Then three more.

    “Hire Gregg Marshall.”

I think it was Glen or one of the writers that stated Marshal is no longer a candidate because he was interested but his price tag was $5M, that would make him one of the highest paid in the country. He is good, he is the best candidate out there, but he is not deserving of that figure, with his current body of work.

when did “making it to the NCAA” become a mark of excellence?
my opinion is that had he not had the high turnover rate, players leaving early and been able to keep his pants zipped up, 4 NCAAs and two 16 would have been good enough.

Methinks he will golf and count his moneys for a year, then commentate. As usual, the cold calculus of the market will speak as to the wisdom of NC State’s firing decision.

Golf is not a verb anymore than football, basketball or tennis is.
they are all nouns. He may “play” golf or play tennis, but he will not golf or tennis or basketball.

    LSU job opens up.

    maybe they will hire Gottfreid,
we will see now what the rest of the country thinks about our coach, the ones that count, the ones that are willing to give him a job, besides ESPN

im not hearing good things about our chances for Archie. was told “you wont be happy with the end result”. I know thats premature and we have no idea, but it doesnt sound like we got the interest from our top choices that we wanted.

I am going to look on the positive side of this statement. somebody is spreading negative rumors to get us into a low expectations state of mind, so that when the decision is announced, we will all be very happy, because we expected worse.
some of my best golf rounds were when I had low expectations.

I think the hire will be successful if we get one of the top 6
greg Marshal or Scott Drew – jumping up and down and screaming for happiness
Holtzman or Miller – great hire and the future looks great
Keatts or Wade – very optimistic about the future

if we hire a washed up coaching retread, I am not re-upping for next years tickets, giving up my PSLs, moving on to better things in life with a better return on investment. And I will not encourage my younger son to attend NC State, too painful, I may even encourage him to go to UNC.

we should be able to get one of those 6!!

Keatts numbers use Louisville’s numbers since he only has 3 years,
the chart clearly show the class of the group to be Marshal and Drew.
Holtzman and Miller are trending in the correct direction.

Roy Williams has made several sarcastic remarks about NC State over the years, as a person who lies to protect his basketball team from truthful events that took place partly under his watch, have little respect for the man.
Not interested in participating in a love fest for old Roy, but will constantly monitor this forum to read and learn what other Pack fans thoughts are about the upcoming search-knowing some people that are big contributors, that have friends in the know at State, they say this going to be a very quiet in house search only a select few will know. So don’t fall for David (I am a attorney, I own a very successful business, married to a supermodel) Superficial Glenn when he says, this guy or that guy isn’t coming.

what has Roy said negative about NC State University?
I am not saying that he hasn’t said anything negative, I am only asking you to tell the rest of us what he has said.
I know he loves UNC, but …

Doeren WILL be coaching NC State as long as Yow is at NC State. The new AD may fire him in 2019, but she will not.
She promised to cover for him if he came here.

^ no matter what you just said above if DD goes 3-5 next year in conference (as I suspect he will) he is going to get fired. Period.

Debbie Yow will not provide a knee jerk reaction to wins and losses this soon. she is too intelligent to follow this scenario.
she is smart enough to make an educated projection on the future of the team based on other situations/facts other than only wins and losses. Mark Gottfreid was not fired due to wins and losses only. he was fired for off the court issues and her assessment of the future outlook of the program under his direction.

If we get blown out 5 times and snag 3 lucky wins and players are leaving the team in droves (ex Caleb & Cody Martin) and there are problems behind doors, like Amato had where assistants were leaving regularly for lower level positions just to get away, then he could be let go after a 3-5 season. I dont see this happening.

But if we go 3-5 or even 2 -6 and she sees progress and a stable environment, he will still be here.
we would not want an AD that would make a decision like you are suggesting.
like her or not, she knows what she is doing, and us fans need to let her do her job the right way.

the daily dirt website is saying that Archie is out.
from multiple sources, that the guy believed to be the front runner, Dayton’s Archie Miller, may in fact already be out of the running (his choice).
    1. does anyone believe this has an ounce of fact associated with it? and is the media pilling on us?
    2. does anyone believe that a posse could fly to Dayton and change his mind, did Roy not turn UNC down a couple of times, and I heard that Sean turned AZ down a few times.

who would be on the posse? Julius Hodge, Tommy Burleson, Derrick whitenburg,, chris corchiani, eddie bidenbach?

the only player that is irreplaceable is Malik Johnson, point guard and maybe Maverick second.
but I worked 30 years for at&t and they said everyone is replaceable, its like taking your hand out of a bucket of water, somebody will take your place

-Freeman may have graduated by then and could walk to another team and play right away, I think he is a key
-Dorn cant waste another year, going nowhere
-I would rather have Kapita next year than abu

    Let’s speculate.

Why? Did anyone expect the Martin twins to transfer?

The best case scenario will be that the new hire will be good enough to keep those in Raleigh that don’t want to go pro. I hope that it’s not a total rebuild. But it’s far from certain.

Our greenskeeper at the club is the Martin’s first cousin, he told me at length why they decided to transfer. when he was explaining this to me we both had on NC State shirts, we are both fans, he was not trying to badmouth NC State or Gotfried, he just told the facts that he heard, not second hand, not hearsay, just the truth. I tried to discuss this on packpride and got banned for life.

    My opinion

1a) Ryan Miller Dayton for obvious reasons
1b) Marshall WSU – Proven successful coach

First Ask archie if he wants the job, if he does, then move on to negotiations and close the deal
if he says he is not interested then quickly move on and tell Marshal that he is our number one choice and only choice

I think Wade will be a very good acceptable option and would not be disappointed if Yow targeted him first, or gave the impression that he was first after 1a and 1b went nowhere

2a) Will Wade VCU (great personality, worth any risk to move on, IMHO)

3a) Cronin Cinc (low risk, proven commodity, questionable ceiling)
3b) Chris holtzman butler (low risk)
3c) Keatts UNCW (Higher risk, good background and track record)
