He could lose out and be in trouble if Yow thought Archie would come here on the cheap. This team needs to shoot better, rebound, and play as a unit on D. Those have been areas that Dayton have done well at. I think Gotts kids with a good Coach like Archie could be really exciting to watch.

Now how much worth? That’s a lot of buyout money.

If not this year then next we should have two coaches names Miller and Hodge running things.

Give it to them- they are predictable after these heartbreaking loses in coming out soft and shell shocked.

Gott probably wants the offseason more than anyone else at this point. He has actually GOTT to do some offseason work if he wants to remain a basketball coach.

Game over. Terrible game defensively. UVa, Clemson and now Miami have all had their best offensive conference games against the same team. What an off season coming up.

It’s hard for a young team to grow their basketball IQ when the team revolves around Buckets. Let’s just cut to chase to say he is not a smart player.

Worst help defensive team effort ever. Silver lining is that no one will get into foul trouble.
Our freshman bigs look like today is there first day in college trying to defend.

Thank goodness it is almost over. This has been the most frustrating Men’s BBall team to watch in a long while-more so then last year. They have out worked just about everyone this season but keep inventing ways to piss themselves with under a minute to go. We could put in the scrubs under a minute to go in any game and get the same result 9 out of 10 times. I’ve never seen a team so afraid of winning before.

Latest word is that TJ is inching closer and closer to the Lottery cut off. He will definitely pull the trigger, as he has got to, and will end up being a late lottery pick IMO.

There are a lot of true freshman predicted ahead of him and one or more will stay in school I bet. I wouldn’t be shocked if Parker stays at Duke for one more.

Moving forward it will be for the best. There are a lot of first year guys that by next year will be ready to shoot more often. Average that out, add Lacey (transfer from Alabama), and replacing TJ won’t be nearly as hard as replacing our 4 starters from the last two seasons.

I just want to reiterate that I could care less about the last three. Even if we pulled out a W @ Pitt it wouldn’t matter since they are seen as a fraud now anyways. The post season beyond the ACC is dead so let’s just get to Greensboro and end this grind.

Tired legs will get the better of you in situations like FT and defense. It is easy to take a broad sweep look and see it as a chronic season thing but in this specific game situation it was normal. You will see an exact play out like this nearly a dozen times in the NCAA tourney-just not with us playing.

This would be an instant top 5 biggest heartache defeats had the team ever looked like it was comfortable with success.

Not pleased with the outcome one bit. We all have that gigantic bin of sorrow to stack away. Just file a new one.

This season has sucked but I can’t say that I’m not proud of our young men. It’s a very weird season. I guess that’s not bad for a “rebuilding” year.

I just want to skip the last three and do ACCs to put an end to it.

I don’t like to attribute much of what has happened on the court to any one or two players. The overall makeup is not all that lacking and the coaching has been for the most part commendable. I look at the ACC landscape and see a year of defensive minded basketball. It’s the year of Bennet ball and even Roy Wiiliams is hanging his hat on stingy defense primarily to win.

An inexperienced Gottfried led squad will always be .500 at best in a conference season like this. There needs to be loose action, end to end play, with teams extending themselves out to score. I just see over 3/4 of the league closing everything in and playing for no tempo games. I even thought the Duke vs UNC game was slow and ugly for the most part.

This is a really tough match up player wise. TJ will have to guard McDaniel and Buckets is well known for leaking out to lead the break (he’s not out first for his sprinting speed). I expect McDaniel to have a monster night on the offensive boards unless we put Freeman on him (have TJ guard Flowerdoppleganger dude).

On offensive our play against man to man is either fantastic (FSU & UNC first half) or freakishly bad (UVa & UNC first half). One thing that hurts is that we’ve been playing against Zones almost all the time for months. Seeing man to man is just too novel looking at times.

Advantage vs. Disadvantage. Ask yourself what was going to happen-then what happened-and finally did someone gain an advantage by breaking the rules. That is the name of it. Only the newbie refs and bad ones have their name mentioned with “but it was in the book”. The good ones pass the eye test of advantage/disadvantage and their work in the moment stands up to moment.

Stuart better be a newbie. Not the first time he has sucked awful. In fact one poster here that is trolling on (as usual) mentioned him by name earlier this year as looking “lost on the baseline”.

Anybody wonder why Stuart was so far behind the play when there is a ref always assigned to anticipate the home run pass. Even a good two man crew can handle that. Stuart: just plain lost on any line.

Folks really need to cut this team some slack. If rolling out four freshman, a two transfers don’t mean squat then everyone in the league would be 6-6. It’s so easy to just pick up with anyone at seasons beginning because the HC and players should all be as great as they will ever be by now. It’s that easy, and everyone is doing it so why can’t we.

You have to have an inbounder that knows to throw it off the leg and reset the inbounds there.

That is where a Scott Wood type experienced guy keeps his composure.

Folks need to cut this team some slack for putting out a completely new roster this season. Players need reps of in game experience to get there and other then Ennis I just see a Cuse roster full of returning players from past years.

It is mind numbing to think of how two plays were called by the refs in closing second one point games.

    Wake Forest 4 step waltz

TJ getting hammered in the motion of delivering a shot

We are those two calls/no calls from being a team that everyone can get behind instead of having more dip sticks showing up and running off the “SOS, these guys suck and so does the coach”.

Just saying now I’m so proud of our gentleman. You can hand the NCAA title to Syracuse if this is an example of well officiated.

I liked that we hit some threes and battled under the boards some.

WF plays a Summer League BBall game and I think it shows up in high scoring, sloppy play at time, out of whack foul a-thon. It’s contagious and teams probably feel a bit dirty after beating them.

I thought Freeman was great and he had some good looks inside that normally he cashes in on. He will be counted on Saturday to keep a pulse in the game based on not backing down. Still won’t be enough but we are coming in with some confidence shooting from outside that frankly hasn’t been there up to now. Yes we have improved some over the course of the year in some facets. Only a nimrod would miss that.

Seems the ideal game for TL to run the point. Cat Barber plays some of the worst PG offense versus zone defense that I have ever seen. Great upside to his game, he has just gone mental every time he sees the 2-3.

Depending on your interest level in recruiting decides just how exciting this day is.

One point that should go noticed is how DD and staff compete every minute while on the job. Last year they convinced three WRs-Ramos, Valdes-Scantling, and Alston-on signing day to run with us.

We don’t have room for that kind of flurry but they will continue to recruit to the very end.

The scoring was dead even over the final 31 minutes. 4 of our 5 misses from the FT line come from TJ and Cat-could see the “dazed look” Gott mentioned on both of them early on.

Speaking of early-drop Vandy out of the starting lineup already. The only plays he can make are in late game sitiuations when fatigue is setting into the other teams bigs. I think giving him minutes near the end of each half maximizes his usefulness. He has gotten us to the halfway point of conference season and allowed the young guys to adapt to the level of play. Continuing to start him and expecting better scoring and rebounding moving forward is assanine.

Today’s loss coupled with FSU’s bed wetting at home pretty much sealed the deal. We will need a win @Cuse or two big wins in Greensboro to even come close.

I didn’t mind seeing KWash shoot so many x today and would like to see Freeman get in on the act as well. Frontline scoring would completely change how we attacked the goal.

TL is a spark plug that needs a little spark himself. Gott has played the hand of two PGs pretty sloppy at times, and today was the worst.

Cat had it thrown in his face repeatedly and we were stuck with a 2 on the scoreboard for nearly five minutes.

Instead of getting TL in there early he waited til Cat really pissed him off a substituted with 8 on the shot clock.

TL gets covered up as soon as he picks up his dribble, passes off and creates a shot clock violation. Produces instant public ass chewing from the HC and now you have both PG’s going south.

There were plenty of face palm 25% shooting moments, but that sequence defined how Gott Coaches loose and sloppy in games we have barely any margin for error.

Too many 6’9″ forwards recruited by State who are not really 6’9″. UNC consistently recruits big, big men, and the play under the basket was comical volleyball today.

It’s one reason the “small” lineup we go with works ok. Warren is as big as any 4 and rebounds better.

Hell, put TJ at the 5 and you wouldn’t see a drastic change.

We have no chance of winning and slim chance to be within 25 at the end.

Bad, terrible and foolish looking so far.

Kyle Washington is so much better than earlier this season. His trajectory and skill set matched with Gotts offense has got me excited for the future. He just needs to add some strength and finish moves around the tin. His defense and rebounding are already way ahead of where anyone here could hoped for.

Great win at home. These guys continue to impress with the toughness and spunk they display.

Lewis and Dez really ran the backcourt well and you saw a team that could face man or zone with equal confidence.

I just like their attitude (with exception to TJ’s occasional lapses). They know that they are in a war and don’t shy from the challenge.

The zone has given the team a tool to adjust to the flow of the game and keeps us from not being as suspect on D, though we still have a lot of room for growth on that end.
