Nothing suggests a lick is done concerning the betterment of the team from one year to the next other than what trainer Bob Alejo has succeeded in doing.

Helping Richard and JV to get into shape has been the only improvement and sign or team/player development. BJ Anya coming in transformed and ready to compete physically at a high level is the only “trick” I foresee as imaginable.

As for this season, and more importantly this point, there is nothing left except starting Lewis on Monday. I personally like the idea of Cat being the guy because he is capable in more areas and the effort/drive is all you could ask of. He has just hit the wall-and at his speed of action the debris is effecting other players, IMO.

This team should lose a lot of ACC games. Attrition and a complete lack of planing/developmental made this seasons NCAA hopes D.O.A.

This was not a given, just a high, high probability…

That Gott would be considered to be candidate for the chopping block after this season or next was and still is highly improbable.

As a fan I can only throw this solution, albeit rash, and, a bit reckless.

Terminate Gott at the end of the season (three possible W’s on the schedule and atleast one due to sheer luck).

Tell him we don’t fire mid season and that committing the whole 2014-15 season after back-to-back seasons of not returning anything compared to what you have is unacceptable.

Money is tight so elevate Lutz to put in atleast a one year try out at bargain basement pricing. We are already paying a ton as a film guy/defensive strategist (uh, fail…) so it’s not really like we’re are changing the economics of the sitiuation drastically.

This won’t happen, I know, but it is one example of outside the box thinking that an AD can (and it does/has happened elsewhere) implement to stave of a death spiral.

My statement that he is ALL external, and that his coaching style has ZERO substance may seem a stretch, but ask yourself….

Why has he never pointed the finger at himself?

Why has he never outwardly displayed a reaction of displeasure with how HIS coaching isn’t meeting the demand?

99 out of 100 big boy college basketball team HC’s would do that in some form once the 30+ blowout losses begin to reoccur.

Gottfried the Guilded. It’s all external with no substance.

Every game HAS to be determined by the other team and/or referees. It has to be….

There is no style our substance to a Gottfried coached team-they just play monkey-see-monkey do to whatever the opposition/officiating makes them out to.

He’s a fake-ESPN was a match made in heaven job.

JV shouldn’t play against a team like Duke-long rebounds that he will never touch.

No matter how Lewis plays this half it’s refreshing that Cat ride some pine. One should always know that “you suck=you don’t play” exist. I don’t think he knows anything about that idea.

I had an issue with one, maybe two, of Ralstons shots. I wouldn’t call him a chucker, just a about average outside shooter (the only capable shooter on the team) who is not being set up by the PG.

No one other than Cat or TJ are getting the looks they choose when Barber runs the point. Post players don’t get the ball on the block and perimeter shots are never drive and kick out. It’s the blind leading the blind with him running the offense, especially against the zone.

Three big issues that Gott can’t deal with.

Cat is a better on ball defender than TL. Gott is arguably the worst team defense HC out of the 350 D1 level teams (seriously, we looked retarded in our zone last night). He needs individual defensive efforts to have any hope of getting a string of stops.

TL just needs to make a few threes and he will immediately start earning minutes back. The Zone is killing us and to have a undersized white guy who made the McD’s All-Star game not able to shoot and make a three is mind-boggling. Seriously, how can he be that terrible?

Cat is the future PG. There is no room on the roster for TL next season with every G returning along with adding Lacey and the Martin twin that projects as a pure SG. Dez and Lacey will spell Cat for any minutes needed. So the question is how much run do you want to give Cat this year in order to prepare for the future? He is obviously a million miles from being a true PG so Gott may be hedging on quantity minutes leading to quality play down the road some.

Cat gives a ton of effort. It APPEARS his speed of play is freakishly ahead of his mental grasp of things. Part of that is inexperience, for sure, but some of it could be why other major programs backed off. There might be a “clean slate” up there if you catch the drift.

The last 4 didn’t matter since we had no TO. We couldn’t have drawn up a play. Doesn’t matter since Cat would have had to be taken off the floor for anything other than what was seen to occur.

We just get screwed by the zone every night. We came out and went 0 for 3 against it (all outside shots) and that set the tone for another polar bear face paw with claw to the eyes for good measure.

It was hard telling with Chase, Stats, Wallace sitting down there, but I didn’t get the head count of that one more little white guy in a warm up. Just thought it was odd since Cat is usually given atleast a tiny break in the second half most nights. Not that it really fn matters-they all suck.

I think we set a new amateur record in turnovers via 5 foot lobs in the paint. We are offensively rebounding great and a guy has prime position. Just put up a shot and let him go after the miss. No, better yet, go to the Sally 5 foot lob pass again.

WF beats us in W-S in Football and Basketball.

Is there a point questioning this anymore?

Hopefully the disgust from Saturdays game (by the players since it’s c’est la vie for Gott) will keep us in there out of prides sake.

When you have TWO PG’s you don’t have ONE.

Teams do and will take great pride in shutting down TJ-now, is he a guy who plays with a ton of pride himself? Serious question-it’s just so hard to get a read on such an unemotional player. Today was just an off night but the trend of fading away at difficult stretches of games is becoming an issue.

Virginia told us to go out and get a stick to beat is with. A lot of storm debris out there so that is that….

Buckets with his worst game of the year and seems to be following Duke’s Parker and UNC’s Paige as local stars turned ACC dog meat.

    Tis true^

It’s no secret that Bennets team holds more than Mike London’s football team.

Scott Wood would normally have to order a replacement jersey after the UVa game due to how stretched out it became.

Pick n’ rolls/pops are almost unheard of vs Bennett defenses due to how they immediately grab the screener and hold him in place.

Cat will have some chances to drive and hit some short jumpers. That will draw UVa’s bigs away from the tin and open up some dump offs to Vandy/Freeman/Anya.

It may look like “Cat on Five” at first but it results in UVa becoming reactive on D, and they are not quick/athletic enough to play that mode.

The Hoos unravel many times due to the high % of the Turnovers resulting from steals. Dez, TJ and Cat should be foaming at the bit for this chance.

Bennets teams are so cautious on offense that teams are overplaying the passing lanes knowing full well that UVa’s coach is instructing his players to run clock.

It seems vs Wake they shot lights out and Bzzzzzzzed… rolled in with another of his patented road show….and FSU self-destructed by turning it over on many occasions (18 vs UVa!?).

I see us finally putting foot down in the second half in a way that we haven’t seen yet. 3/4 soft press will help in staying aggressive and not allowing our inexperience dictate our energy.

    Pack 77-63.

*NC in last place of Swoffarts new ACC. Imagine what a joke they would be w/o Paige pulling a couple one man shows early in the year.

Mizzou loses at home to Georgia. We really missed a good opportunity there to win against a highly overrated team. I can see 6 games on our schedule that can count in the “signature” column and our next one is the Wahoos @ home. Our OOC didn’t pan out as well as it could have (or should have). We really have to be opportunistic in any of the six top 50 RPI’s. I don’t think there are a lot of bad loss land mines other than BC or VPI. Regardless we have to just put forth 40 minutes of great energy each game and show a fearless side in late game action. Those two ingredients are enough to deliver enough W’s to be a NCAA selection discussion.

Vandy did finish with 11 boards. It looked bad with the Amish Bill Walton having his way at times. Should be noted that our guards managed to slow arguably the best playing guard of the past few weeks. Ever since Grant became ineligible Atkins has become a monster. Dez fits a role that we missed last year after the departure of CJ Williams.

Good to see some toughness to close out a game. Conference games are most often won by the team that can withstand a lot of ugly and manage to peak at the end. We won with the one of our weaknesses. That’s a sign of a young team developing toward the ultimate goal of rock solid team basketball. Still a work in progress but damn if Gott manages to scrape out W’s along the way each year.

Barbers main problem appears to be that this is his first year of organized basketball. He has so many physical attributes to disquise that he is actually a “project” caliber player.

State bench out scored the Irish 15-0. With some more of that and Buckets taking the lid off could do the trick. I was so far off thinking it would be a real low scoring affair. Not sure either team should be considered defensive stalwarts.

Great to see everyone contributing with points. We should never expect to be a one-two punch team with Warren and someone else. Everyone nickel and dime the points til we have a nice pot. Stills comes down to great defense though if we are going to see a winning product.

Is TL getting minutes with Cat or is it the same substitution pattern?

ND doesn’t give away the ball and cleans the defensive glass.

This mean Buckets is going to have to show us he can generate offense another way (maybe as a decoy/distributor).

We NEED to push the ball every shot and get it in underneath before anything else (by that I don’t mean “Coast to Coast” Cat.

It has turned into teams not having to defend the 3 pt line or the post/baseline. Badminton courts are larger then the space you have to defend against us.

Game in the 50’s. Please, please, please hit some three pointers so that we can atleast hit 50.
