ParticipantDamn, that’s Draymond Green-esque defense.

ParticipantCat didn’t play today, held out for a concussion. That sux.
MrPlywood
ParticipantIt’s the snowball effect. I like it.

ParticipantGiglio wrote “One of the main questions about Barber before the draft was: Does he make the players around him better? N.C. State’s lack of team success, with Barber as the leader, might have been held against him. Of the 11 point guards taken in the draft who played college basketball, nine led their team to the NCAA tournament last season.”
This thinking bugs me. He led State to a win over LSU and the #1 draft pick, who led his team nowhere. The Euro guys are judged more on individual ability and athleticism. Somehow Barber bears responsibility for the team? Get out. Prove them wrong Cat!

ParticipantHmmm, maybe use the strategy employed by the community college to the west. Just need to reapply to the NCAA sometime in October and spell Seven’s name differently, starting the clock again. “Oh, sorry guys, it’s spelled Yertsevan. What’s that, that’ll set you back another 6 months? Fair enough, we’ll play him in the meantime and we’ll hear from you in April, yes? Sounds like a plan. “

ParticipantAre ornamental gardening posts allowed in here? 🙂
Yogi that sounds great. I’d like to grow some veggies here (Vancouver Island) but it’s a challenge since it takes so long to warm up where we are near the water. And, I don’t have near the room it sounds like you’re working with. I have a backdoor neighbor with a large lot (.75 acres, for here that’s big) and I’m trying to talk him into letting me put in some beds.

ParticipantI listened to Tony last night on the Tune-In radio
What station VA?
MrPlywood
ParticipantIt is tomorrow.
Not here 😉

ParticipantIf that’s not the Wolfpack modus operandi I don’t know what is…

ParticipantTaking responsibility for a problem and doing something about it – how refreshing.

Participantyo-yoing between utter disaster and mediocrity
Is competency before or after mediocrity?
MrPlywood
ParticipantHe needs to shoot 500 free throws every day and about the same number of jumpers from 10-17 feet out
I think Abu and Anya – and therefore the team – will benefit from seeing the Euro/Seven approach in action.
MrPlywood
ParticipantThe Turk better get cleared.
Surely Yow has hired a consultant to investigate the situation for the NCAA, and to give them the “all clear”.
MrPlywood
ParticipantWelcome Back.
MrPlywood
ParticipantIs the team practicing now? Does that include Abu and Anya?
MrPlywood
ParticipantClearly sarcasm is a tough sell around here theses days 🙂 I have to admit I didn’t catch it.

ParticipantFunny, he Yurtseven into my noggin’ the other night and I found that story about his 91 points that I posted in the other thread. I was wondering about the effect playing with DSJ might have on his decision. That and evidently the Atsur connection might have turned the tide. Fingers crossed with the eligibility.
MrPlywood
ParticipantFive-star C Omer Yurtseven scores 91 points in U-18 game
Kid could come in handy.

ParticipantI think it is clear as you read between the lines, of this article, that Cat left because of Coach Gott.
What article did you read?
I agree Wuf, this decision is a no brainer as opposed to a head scratcher.
MrPlywood
ParticipantHere’s forum news that new to me….I highlighted Wuf’s last sentence and hit quote. Only that sentence showed up in the reply box and it was correctly attributed. Who knew?
Use it wisely grasshopper. The habit in a certain light blue forum is to quote the entire thread in a response. Of course they do like to hear themselves talk…

ParticipantAll male athletes declare they are now women and compete against other schools’ women’s teams.
…and still lose to UCONN.
MrPlywood
ParticipantJust curious if any of the old-school Illuminati around here know whether or not an AD in this situation would have a chat with an athlete in order to get the player’s point of view. The feedback may end up being he said/he said, but something is amiss.
MrPlywood
ParticipantEqually expected, Beejay and Abu did not.
Hopefully this turns into a win/win for the guys and the team. They now know what they need to do to improve their chances for a pro future, and if they follow through the team should benefit from that work.
MrPlywood
ParticipantI stand by my statement. Just stop playing UNC. I’d bet that FSU, GT, Syracuse and Miami would join us given that all got way more from the NCAA and ACC for less. I’d bet that Clemson would too. The ACC would either completely implode or sanction UNC.
That’s the sort of move you don’t make on your own and hope that other schools will join in. It needs to be brokered behind the scenes, and announced as a group. I can easily see State going out on its own and left hanging out there to dry.
RE: the reaction of other schools around the nation, I hope that they are waiting for the final judgement before speaking out, and not just planning to stand by the wayside. But I’m not getting my hopes up.

ParticipantJust saw this note on ESPN:
NBA says 162 players – 117 players from colleges/post-graduate institutions & 45 international – filed early entry candidates for draft.
