Old school was 1. Book 2. Professor 3. Slide rule. Nothing else but your sweat and tears.

Very true and I was glad to sell my slide rules. I had an extra that I bought cheap from someone and sold it to buy beer on a beach trip.

I sometimes forget, but the biggest reason I detested exam week was that during my freshman and soph year, the semester didn’t end until 3 weeks after the Christmas holding was over. So we had 3 more weeks of class in January and then had exams. I was really glad they started earlier when I came back to finish and exams were over by Christmas. That took the pressure off, I could enjoy the holiday break, and start fresh in January.

And we were finished in May versus June with the Spring semester!

The thought of a “Blue Book” sends chills down my backside and makes me pucker.

However, I don’t remember having any of those after my soph year.

Here’s you difference in black strap molasses, Bill. I remember those very well…

Blackstrap molasses is the dark, viscous molasses that remains after maximum extraction of sugar from raw sugar cane. It has the consistency of a thick syrup, as the third boiling of sugar syrup yields blackstrap molasses. This concentrated byproduct is left over after the sugar’s sucrose has been crystallized.

They were so thick, I never really liked them. I used to put Grandma’s on pancakes.

Bill, Shoo Fly Pie Breakfast Lunch or Dinner

Absolutely, one of my military roommates was from Reading, PA and I have loved shoe fly pie since then. Had some at one of the Amish “buffets” a couple of years ago coming back through PA from Cape Cod.

I thought the Roy rogers was on Hillsboro near Meredith.

It was when I was at State.

Wasn’t it on the corner of Hillsborough and Dixie Trail?

    Seafood in Hall County!!!

    Ha!!

Name of place, location, items or people of interest.

If you are in San Francisco look for a place called Frascsti. Mediterranean styled grub, food is good, place is small and people mind their business.

I was there giving a speech against modern art.

    McCallum

As long as you’re in San Fran, check out Sam’s Chowder House in Half Moon Bay.

I cannot remember when anyone played soccer in high school back in 63 when I graduated. Maybe I would have played cause I was undersized for football at 150, but was fast and quick. Nellie Cooper introduced me to the sport in PE my freshman year at State and soccer was a really fun game to play. 3 years or so later when I was in the Army, I got to put my rusty skills to test with some of our Hungarian language instructors one afternoon..Had 2 assists and we won 3-2.

But I cannot stand to watch the game!

At 72 I still have a rare nightmare about still being at State and waking up after missing an exam. Must have been a hangover from my engineering days!

Bill, some of the Cocks apparently like Drinkwitz, but they don’t know much either. Some of said they wanted Mangus back..At least he could pee in the bottles for the students to throw.

At least I was .500 Saturday. Sometimes I think I hate Clempson more than UnC-Cheats cause I have to see that urange crap all year!

Wonder if I could spray paint my zoysia Red & White in one area and Garnet & Black in the other?

Gamecocks are hoping to send their OC there as the head coach to get rid of him.

I always want to confuse this game with the one the year before at State when I was in my last semester before graduation. Think that was the day that Wilder and a young fellow named David Thompson came over to my apartment before the game…Wilder’s brother and future wife were staying with me that weekend.

Next year, I was still in Raleigh working and married for 3 months.

I also recall this was the night I decided to take a rest at the afterparty at my wife’s apartment, took a nap on the bed, rolled off between the bed and wall and they didn’t find me for 3 more hours!!

    Here I sit
    All sad and humbled,
    Tried to score
    But only fumbled.

Dang, reminds me of the other version:

    Here I sat broken hearted,
    Paid a nickel to shix,
    but only farted.

It’s ok, guys…remember, Clempson is “only us in Orange”…Duh, think Clempson is Carolina Blue in Orange and has Johnny Swofford’s nads mounted near the rock where they squeeze on them…

Dabo is an idiot and if you observed, Venables told him to “shut up” when he was talking!
