As a Panther fan I am hoping the Iggles win and we get them in CLT next Sunday at 1pm. We will shut down that offense all day long – they don’t scare me.

I have been saying Gott is a poor defensive coach for 3 years now. It was true at Bama and it is true now. Pitt had their way with us after the good opening run. We are in for a very long year in league play. NIT is our ceiling IMHO.

Mora turns Texas down. Briles not interested. You would have to think Strong or Franklin is the guy.

Al Golden has been offered the Penn State job and he is expected to accept. So potentially Miami and Lville could be looking for new coaches.

If only the Bama defense had the same fight.

It will be interesting to see how much longer Saban hangs in there. I do think he is itching for one last challenge. And he can’t be happy with all the Malzahn praise. Simply put if he doesn’t win it all it is a bad season. That is tough to live with.

Gus Malzahn > Saban? Could be.

It is a silly article. Football is its own beast. Basketball another story. If anyone thinks Pat Summitt or Kay Yow couldn’t coach men, you are vastly underestimating their abilities.

Good work. It just reaffirms what I already was thinking – we have a lot of work to do. Certainly not impossible but very little room for error.

I just hope we can show some good solid improvement with this young team to set the stage for a better chance at it next year.

You have what I have, primacy. Sadly, I don’t think you can do better. I have tried. Twice now. In the end, after a zillion conversations with all these sales people, asking all the questions and doing the math, I finally decided to stay put. And I won’t ever get those hours back. Frustrating, but cable has me by the balls. I could have saved on my tv service by switching, but not when you consider the bundle. And then you have installation costs and insurance. And then, after your first year is up, you are paying way more than you would have ever paid for cable. They won’t tell you that up front. But it was true for me. And if you cancel before your contract is up, forget it. You will take a big loss. Those folks over at Time Warner aren’t dummies. They know the market. It sucks.

Stanford vs Sparty ought to be a dandy. But no USC cheerleaders in the Rose Bowl to see? Ba humbug.

Don’t know what to make of Cocky and the Badgers. Probably stick with the SEC, that is always a safe bet.

How much will Briles run it up on UCF as he auditions for Texas?

Rose Bowl aside this is a pretty weak slate IMHO.

Our excuse? Lee Fowler. That’s my answer for everything having to do with State athletics, though time is getting away.

We have no excuse. Wake won an ACC title with Grobe. Now Duke pens a banner season. And it isn’t a fluke. They are well coached, and they are good. Anybody that thinks we shouldn’t expect better results than those two is blinded. Of course we can do it. All the resources are there. But will we?

I agree, Texpack, and that is one of the reasons why you see a some worst to first, and first to last after just a season. See Houson Texans. Or KC Chiefs. Or the Iggles. Or the Panthers. And Baltimore, your Super Bowl Champion a season ago, watches from home. Of course, you have the Patriots as the model of consistency (and the Browns, Lions, Raiders and Bills as the models of futility). Usually able to put Pittsburgh on that list, but not so much this season. And what was it, just a few seasons ago, the NFC West was a joke. Now it is rock solid with three very legit teams. The tides turn so quickly in the NFL. And that is another reason why we watch, for better or for worse.

To me the point is he played well enough as a rookie, and most importantly in a difficult situation, to warrant a good long hard look. And you can bet your behind GMs and coaches are doing just that. He showed be can play.

It will obviously all depend on the hires and the direction Tampa is to go, but he did a fine job under difficult circumstances this year. The one knock, and it is a big one, is his lack of mobility. But everyone knew that and he still did a good job. With Brees, Ryan and Newton firmly situated in the division, it will be a “tall” order for MG and the Bucs.

Cut deserves every bit of praise he is receiving. It is Duke, people. Duke! Heck of a coach, and by all accounts a very solid man.

I surely did not, no. I knew we would struggle, and we have. Conference play will be very difficult.

We won’t be finishing .500 in conference – at least not as it stands today. We have a LONG way to go to become a contender.

I agree it is the best and they can hand pick. I just don’t know about Jimbo though. Would he really leave FSU at a time when they are going for it all, and Winston is back next year. The other three would go in a heartbeat.

Nobody cared for Chud. Steve Smith can’t stand the guy. He had not earned the respect of the players.

Yep, Panthers have had some pretty good ones. Rivera is no different. Players love the guy.

Panther fans don’t like to admit it but Hurney put together the bulk of this team and staff. Funny how that works.

I know good basketball when I see it, and that wasn’t it. Credit UNCG. But we gotta be better than that if we want to be taken seriously nationally. We better have a big time conference run in is or else we ain’t sniffing tourney play.

Yea, except there are actually pretty girls with teeth in Mississippi. So darn fine ones as a matter of fact.
