I thought much better of Doris Burk

DSJ needs to go for both him and for the team.

I hope DSJ leaves – I’m not in the habit of calling out players but he needs to go.

Bet those job offers were in the Todd Turner era.

Tex granted they haven’t had to but the time is near. All the “auditions” for a replacement have not lived up to expectations.

I’ll not criticize the timing of the announcement until I have some history on it. Maybe it was the thing to do or maybe not. I think we all knew Gott would not be back for the next season. I’m willing to let this play out. Let the talking heads explode with rancor.

With the 24×7 news cycle thing filtering into every aspect of life we will always get these sort of things. That said we have not run a major coach search without the jackals nipping at our ankles.

My take on the whole issue is Gott did a few goods things and a lot of not so good things. Regardless the result was unacceptable (just as Lowe’s was). I do think as a program we might be a half step better than the Lowe years but the question (as always) is can we make that next step. A prospective coach that is afraid of Huckleberry or the Rat is not the right coach for NC State. A coach that can’t or won’t be a coach is not either. I hope we can have a coach search for a change that is not a clown show.

Nice try at spin but as Bubba would say “say what”. It could be that way or it could be not. I’m expecting the former.

“Troll I agree we are getting more interest than in decades. The question is will it happen?

Going back to my days on campus (mid ’70’s) the women’s games were always a show of heart. I think Morre has grasped that concept. If I was closer to Raleigh I would be attending the women’s games.

Time to move on – either firing now or at the end of the season – I see pros and cons with either. I agree the coming AD change is also a factor but if a good coach is treated well (pay and the other crap from the Admin) that all works. My big concern is the Admin – for decades they have shown little interest in having a quality MBB program. I don’t mean letting a coach run roughshod over the rules I simply mean identifying a reasonable candidate for coach and then supporting that coach. Gott in some ways leaves a program better than he inherited but in other way the opposite. I really enjoyed the Lutz audio – back to his Charlotte days I always thought he was a straight shooter but not vindictive. Our admin could do worse than heed his counsel.

History says an NC State coaching search IS hell. Needed in this case but hell regardless.

‘roo that is exactly as I remember with the addition the rumor was floated that Sloan had “other issues” (maybe like Gott). I never saw any evidence pro or con but that was the story as I remember. Casey was a cheap ass – maybe rightfully so maybe not but I agree the elevation of V to AD so he would get more money was the start of the downfall.

I suspect we lost Holtz because of money and a lack of support in the “jogger incident” Yes he would have left eventually but I dare say not to the NY Jets.

I suspect that happened between Smart and Marshall last time – good strategy if you hold the power. At that time we did not.

Agreed Troll but I don’t consider that entertainment. I don’t relish the downfall but I think the die is cast. Gott did some good but well short of enough.

Why should I not miss? For the comedy? For the drams? For the rubbernecking aspect? I suspect I will joind the kids and the youth at church tonight. At least I get to see some smiles.

“no cookies” – sort of sums up the MBB team this year – except maybe Anya.

Never works out – Everett Case, Press Maravich, Norn Sloan, Jimmy V. So in the past it has – sadly we also ran off some of those by continuing to be cheap. At this point I suspect our choices will be limited to the up and comers given the program but even those are not “cheap” these days.

I think Archie is a long shot – not impossible but that ship might have sailed. I would have 3rd party contact and if there is some interest I would explore but I doubt he will coach the red and white.
