ParticipantAny head coaching job in the ACC is high risk/high reward. Not being on the inside all is I know is we did not have the CF of a coaching search like the last two – which to me indicates the job is held in higher regard and we (and in that athletic dept) did a better job of dealing with things this go. I look forward to seeing the program move forward.

ParticipantI think the first point is the most significant. He wants to be in Raleigh. Can he make positive things happen? Time will tell.

ParticipantTroll I happen to disagree about the thread. Other than a place to vent it serves no purpose.
tractor57
ParticipantTime for this thread to vanish.

ParticipantI want a coach that up to the challenge. The rest is bogus.

Participant“if my opinion is changed by force I’m still of the same opinion”
That might be a factor.tractor57
ParticipantI’m with SaccoV – I want a coach who wants be here and will bleed red every day. Valvano was one but circumstances got in the way after the Natty. Norm was one but after that Natty circumstances came into play as well. Case really established the program and obviously lived and breathed it – that is not likely today.
All I want is a coach who believes in the Pack as much as I. If a prospect can’t do that then he/she should not be considered further – be that Sean, Archie or anyone else. As a D1 coach you are paid well and my upbringing says you owe your efforts to who pays you.tractor57

ParticipantFirst day but who gives a crap other than the games?

ParticipantGiven the current state of major college athletics JV was string up by our own. Problems? Yes. But the history will always be NC State screwed him – not entirely accurate but more right than wrong.

ParticipantI don’t know Moton will be a homerun. What I see I like and maybe so but as history shows hindsight is much more accurate than foresight.

ParticipantJust check the history of basketball hires for the Pack. Back in the day a HS school coach who was a home run hitter. Next an assistant hired from Clemson who took the task and did ok for a year then left. An alum that ended up winning a natty before he was run off. A up and comer who became the darling of the world and also won a natty. An alum who had teams that were always full of effort if not the skill needed. A mid major coach how became so reviled his name is no longer mentioned. Another alum who although all in could not coach his way out of a wet paper bag. A retread from a major school who apparently could not get beyond his past. So you make a choice and see where it leads. If you look at other schools in the conference you can see the same pattern. Obviously not easy to pick a star.

ParticipantLes was fighting with his hands tied as a coach. As an AD his was a hot mess. I don’t think using him as an example for today is valid.

ParticipantIf you really wanted to speed up the game limiting the time spent reviewing calls would be the most effective. However like most here I don’t see that as the aim of the rule proposals – simply more ad time so more $$$. I already have a policy of skipping most ads but I have found that oddly enough the ads during a basketball game almost always come at the same time as the ads for scripted TV shows. Guess I need a dvr so I can FF through any ads.

ParticipantWhen NCCU is dancing and NC State is not time for a rebbot – or a boot to the whole coaching staff. Who replaces I have no idea but the national naysayers have this all wrong.

ParticipantBJD that is my wish. Manning has done quite a bit for Wake, hopefully we finally get our man to do the same.
tractor57
ParticipantI’ll say one pro Manning thing – he can coach big men. I have watched the development – little things like proper footwork. I think Wake made a good choice. Hopefully now our turn to do the same.

ParticipantRock, chalk – nevermind.

ParticipantI believe there is no “work” I can do to insure a place in heaven – that is dependent on grace by the most holy. On the other hand if I am trying to walk the walk I want to serve and do good things. My goal each day is to be a better person than I was yesterday – often I fail but that does not deter me from my goal. I do not wear a coat and tie to church – simple country Methodist church that is filled with farmers, healthcare workers and the like. We attend because we like the sense of community and out of the need to worship.

ParticipantThe other issue is guaranteed money rather than the illusion of money. I suspect the giraffe has quality agents, lawyers and such to navigate that minefield. The interview I heard last summer indicated to me the Glennon was aware of all those things.
tractor57
ParticipantI caught an interview with Glennon last summer. The upshot was he was biding his time and learning his craft. Maybe now is indeed the time.

ParticipantGott had time to prove he was deserving – now the view is he was not. Time t move on.
