ParticipantGiven the product on display on the field, I dare say we’ve heard the last grumblings from the coaching staff regarding fan support ????
Good lord that one comment has been blown out of proportion.

Participant^Paky… I’m counting that as #3… unless you object…
Nah, no objection from me. I thought it might fit into category 3, but I wasn’t entirely sure what you meant.

ParticipantIt is deeply, deeply, amusing that the crowd that hates government involvement, ‘wealth transfer’, etc. elected a guy who voted to allow the use of eminent domain for private use. Just, wow…..

ParticipantPersonal opinion, it wasn’t exactly a rejection or endorsement of anyone’s policies.
Obama is deeply unpopular in North Carolina, and the GOP did a particularly good job of tying Hagan to him.
Couple that with the fact that the right is especially riled because they think Obama is destroying America or whatever, and the left wasn’t particular motivated to support Obama or his policies because they see him as a continuation of the policies of the previous president.
Also, I’d have to double check, but I believe turnout is typically lower for democrats in non-presidential election years.

ParticipantDez and Washington will both average more than 7 pts a game.

ParticipantMy list of things that concern me, in order
1) defense. I have yet to see it so until I do I will always list this first.
2) Reliance on one primary ball handler. We have zero options for foul trouble injuries or simple bad play
3) End of game points. You need a player who can create his own shot to score in end game situations. I assume it will be Cat but I have not seen that from him yet.
4) Rebounding. We have size but have never made this a priority so I am in “show me” mode1) Abu, the Martin twins, Slim Anya, and Cat are all (supposedly) high motor defenders.
2) Lee and Lacey should be able to at least spell Cat from time to time. I’ve heard Dez is backing up the point in practice.
3) Lacey, Ralston has also (supposedly) improved in this area.
4) Anya, Freeman, Abu. Freeman has definitely shows a proclivity for rebounding. In closing, with the incoming freshmen we have coming in here and what we have coming back, I don’t see us losing any more than four games this year………

ParticipantJaylen Samuels: 7 att, 95 yds, 13.6 avg, 1 TD
I’m just going to go out on a limb here and say Samuels needs the ball more.

ParticipantI still think the most important things for this team to learn will be how to post up and how to make a solid entry pass.
And how to not telegraph the crap out of a pass, and how to step to the ball, and how to pass and catch with two hands, and how to bend our knees, and….
pakfanistan
ParticipantYeah, but UNC is garbage on defense. I wouldn’t draw any conclusions based on that game.
ECU put 70 on them, and then only scored 10 against Temple.
pakfanistan
ParticipantI don’t think anyone is saying Lewis or Vandy or anybody else was the reason our defense wasn’t good.
I know that I, at least, am saying we’ve clearly upgraded nearly across the board in athleticism, and bball IQ, so I think there’s a possibility we’ll be better than we’ve averaged in the past.
pakfanistan
ParticipantI also think that Jordan Washington might be something special……
pakfanistan
ParticipantHaha, and we probably moved up four spots on 3rd down defense after this past saturday’s performance.
I freaking hate playing GT. I fear for our players careers every time we play them.
pakfanistan
ParticipantClose win from what I heard. And that’s the extent of what I’ve heard.
pakfanistan
ParticipantDravious Wright’s improvement over the course of the season has been impressive.
Early on, he was always around the play, now he’s around the play making plays.
pakfanistan
ParticipantAnd why is “p o k e r” a filtered word here?
Probably a spam filter. Online “p o k e r” bots are relatively popular.

ParticipantWBS getting abused is just a fact.

ParticipantDuke Pitt is pretty fun so far.

ParticipantI think there’s a chance we’ve been rebuilding our roster with improved defense in mind.
The first two years our best players (outside of Howell) were headcases. Last year was freshmen and TJ.
I understand our defensive stats have been in line with Gott’s record, but from the athletes we’re bringing in, it does look like he’s trying to change that.

ParticipantRoy defending Wayne Walden now. "Wayne Walden is one of the most ethical people I've ever known in my life."
— Andrew Carter (@_andrewcarter) October 29, 2014
Roy Williams: "I’ve never had a player ineligible. If you want to be a cynic & say, ‘no joke, with what they did,’ that’s a bunch of crap.”
— Aaron Brenner (@Aaron_Brenner) October 29, 2014
Stuff like that makes me think it’s just a matter of time until UNC goes down in flames.

ParticipantSwofford tells me post press conf that there's no scenario wherein the ACC would sanction UNC independent of what the NCAA decides.

ParticipantWhat is absolutely disturbing to Emmert is that he has already cut a backroom deal with Swofford to go easy on UNC and now all this comes out.
Do we have a source for this, or is it NC State conspiracy theory nuttery?

ParticipantI think justice is more likely now than it has been since this whole thing started.
“Just based on the (Kenneth) Wainstein report, this is a case that potentially strikes at the heart of what higher education is about,” Emmert said Monday. “Universities are supposed to take absolutely most seriously the education of their students, right? I mean that’s why they exist, that’s their function in life. If the Wainstein report is accurate, then there was severe, severe compromising of all those issues, so it’s deeply troubling. … It’s absolutely disturbing that we find ourselves here right now.”

ParticipantThe more I think about it, the more I think it’s the kiss of death for the NCAA unless they come down hard on UNC.
The only other option is to expose a bunch of other schools, hide behind “it was a systemic problem” and promise to fix it going forward.

Participantor fake
Every party has a pooper, that’s why we invited you.

ParticipantThat’s awesome. If you went back and looked at all incoming players over the years, I wonder where Vandenberg would rank on the “likeliness of getting a contract with an NBA team” list.
A buddy of mine and I are of the opinion his chances were pretty good. There aren’t a lot of 7 footers with his athleticism. Anybody remember his freshman year when he won the dunk contest with a between the legs dunk?
