The problem is that this team’s only built to succeed when Barber, Lacey, and Turner are all hitting on all cylinders. Lacey’s pretty much held up his end of things over the course of this season. Turner has been streaky to say the least, and Barber, unfortunately, has regressed from the end of last season over the course of this one.
I hope Cat will prove me wrong, but at this stage, I’m wondering whether or not he’s cut out to be a starting ACC point guard.
Great, and now we’ve got Ga Tech coming to town fresh off a 20-point win. Got a bad feeling about that.
That was a good way to finish the first half. Overall, like what I’m seeing in both effort and results. They’ve got a nice lead and haven’t even had to rely on their usual suspects yet. Have to see what the halftime adjustments are going to be.
That last couple of minutes was well played and a good close to the game. Saw way too many of those go the other way in previous years. Hope they can take down Miami next and stretch to 5-2 in the ACC.
The Charlottesville curse continues. It’s not as flashy as the Durham or Chapel Hill curses, but it’s just as for real (now 3-19 at UVA since 1990).
“NC State has made nine threes and scored only 45 points…that’s hard to do.” Yep, pretty much sums it up.
Glad I missed this one. I’m going to reserve judgment until Jan. 14. They’ve got Pitt and then three straight against the cream of the ACC, including two top-5 teams in the polls. Yeah, they could very well be 1-4 in the conference by that time (and I think 3-2 is their absolute ceiling, btw). But win or lose, at least we’ll know at the end of that stretch whether this team has any chance whatsoever of competing this season.
Gosh, if this is how this team responds to defensive pressure, I can hardly wait for Duke, Louisville, UNC, Syracuse, Virginia, etc.
Judging from the gamecast and the commentary, I’m kinda glad I can’t watch this. Ironic, considering I’m in Cary for the holidays.
Having to follow the game with Gametracker, which seems one step removed from getting updates via telegram. What’s up with Cat tonight? Glad to see we’re taking care of business sans Lacey, though.
Two reasonable bright sides: it seems like guys are collectively picking up the slack from TJW’s departure, and 10-10 free throws to close out the game. I’ll be curious to see how things shake out when the conference schedule kicks in.
If this backcourt continues to play at this level, it’s going to be a darn good season. Congrats to the Pack on a solid win, and let’s go get Hofstra on Monday!
