Heels like to show their ticket purchases to everyone, they just don’t like actually going to the games!

I agree with tractor! The video of these two punks needs no context…pretty clear there was intent from the snap, and you bet it would be a criminal issue if something bad had happened to the official. The official would be first in line to press charges, don’t know after that. Disagree with penalizing the whole team for a few players and coaches. Bring harsh charges/penalties against the wrongdoers (whether player or coach), let the others play ball. BTW, I guess there could be absolutely no other correlations with the numbers? Just bad cops.

kappa you are clearly out of your naïve and liberal mind (and most likely young). this was a criminal act, assault and battery. not only is there no excuse for players to plant a helmet in a ref possibly causing permanent injury or worse, there is no room in any GAME for such criminal behavior. lock em up and throw the book at them. plenty of refs I would have liked to punch for bad calls (esp at NCSU) but would never…and think if one of those punks caught him in the base of his skull with a helmet! first offense, are you kidding? go to jail on the first offense punk…it’s a game and only a game. And about the cops…are you crazy? Cops are among the most vulnerable and underappreciated than anytime in our history…and God help us if we (you) ever have to live where cops just give up. give it some thought. there are plenty of examples of what it would look like without their protection. if youre doing nothing wrong, you shouldn’t worry.

DANG, somebody nailed it above…win and we’ll all be there! It doesn’t take a survey, it’s simple pride. Pride brings us out to the game, just as disappointment redirects our attention, such as a/c and HDTV. Students will brave anything if we are winning, and lose interest otherwise…just like most fans do. It’s fickle, but it’s reality. Students are the most FANATIC…I know, I was there as a student in the early 80s, and we camped out in the snow to get tix to bball games. And we couldn’t wait to get our allotment of football tix every season. We were good then in all sports, and we didn’t experience “State Sh!t”…didn’t happen. For the most part we won games we were supposed to win, and a lot of games we weren’t, but didn’t see many colossal fails like we witness almost every season, across most sports (baseball2015). These collective fails and aggregate disappointment weighs on everybody, especially ADD students (didn’t have ADD when I was growing up) who are easily drawn elsewhere. When you have a bagfull because you are winning, you’ll go to all the games because its fun to talk crap when you can back it up. Now all you get is being put down by the holes and dookies and pirapes and defending yourself with, “well, that’s State Sh!t” and move on with your tail between your legs. I hope I live long enough to see my beloved Wolfpack surge to prominence in a way that not only I, but my boys can be proud of, like it was in the 80s. Our notoriety has become embedded in “State Sh!t”…when it changes to winning pride, the students will flood the gates to get in.

OP may be right with some of the facts, but disagree with his point. Shelf-life in this business is microseconds, so when the moons line up and you finally have a shot you take it, and you don’t run off (yes, run off) your best asset…next season be damned. Again, microseconds! TOB was a disaster. You can see what he was by what he left behind…nothing! That alone should reinforce the belief that TOB was an idiot in the way he botched the RW situation. And FWIW, I don’t think Glennon would have gone ANYWHERE even if RW came back for several reasons we don’t have time to dive into here. And this debate should probably go away, if for no other reason than we don’t want to continue to remind recruits of what could happen to them here if they turn out to be exceptional!

I hate the calls by the refs as much as anybody, and I DO think we are screwed before the game starts in some cases. BUT, I’m so sick of seeing crappy coaching down the stretch, and crappy shooting when it counts. Some fouls against us are caused by being out of position, on both ends of the court! We have no game plan with 5 min left in the game…dribble down, hold the ball around the top of the key until the shot clock winds down, then spaz out and throw the ball away either from a last-sec kickout and missed shot or just losing the ball on the drive. It’s been years since I saw an actual play develop with time running down. I wish there was more accountability in officiating but I’d rather see us learn to shoot under direst (both paint and outside), manage the clock better, move the ball around and set up PLAYS. Enter the 6 minute point drought here!! Gott is an ok coach but he’s not gonna get us any further than where we’ve already been with him. Cat Barber is not a shooter, nor is he a playmaker, he’s a ballhog IMO. Just dribbling around until the shot clock winds down is no good. And the bigs MUST block out under the basket to prevent the putback that continues to be an Achilles heel in the final minutes of these types of losses. What does it say about a team that plays so inconsistently, and yet loses by only 2pts to these ranked teams? If we had showed up with just a little better than average effort, we would have won all of these games! THAT’S COACHING. There’s a reason why some of these teams continually come from behind to win…just like there is a reason why we continue to lose after having the lead.

Sorry but Cat is not great, he’s good but no confidence. Not a pt guard. Can’t shoot or create shots either. Pt guard does not mean ballhog. This team needs to learn to pass, left a lot of back doors open in this game. Let Lacey run things, has fire and can shoot, doesn’t turn the ball over as much.

    1) Great column, good lesson in “can’t we just say, great job this year” and simply focus on the positives for a little while.
    2) If you can’t consistently take pleasure in ANY KIND OF TARHOLE rundown/dumpsterfire then you haven’t been a State fan long enough! Pleasure in this stuff does not equal lowering our expectations. It’s just FUN dude!!!!!

I’m a lifelong pack fan, and treasure my degree from NCSU. And even if I were smart enough to get into Yale, I think I would’ve still chosen the Pack anyway. However, I don’t fault BH any for wanting a Yale degree (law or not) since this is a path to a virtual certainty for success. Best wishes Bo, and thanks for the great hands on the field…and best wishes. Stay a Wolfpack fan!!!

^^If that weren’t so true it would be funny as HE777777!!! Swoffsniff didn’t make the acc expansion decions by himself, as I’m sure they weren’t original ideas either. I’m not saying he’s a dumba$$ either but this is an expand and survive ncaa environment now, so everyone’s doing the same thing. I too have grown tired of getting ripped off in key basketball matchups by the unofficials, and there seems to be no end and no solution in sight, and it wrecks SEASONS for us. As I see it, in the real world, problems like this are never resolved under tyrannical dictatorships until a movement so huge is created that sheds so much light as to confirm any and all bias and suspicions…and someone has to do something about it. There is an opportunity now, coupling the ref bias with academic fraud and AFRAM studies or whatever the he77 at u-n-see, and the subsequent ncaa non-investigation and complimentary chapel he77 “nothing to see here” M.O. Not to incite or provoke, but why couldn’t the fans, in a peaceful display, do something to force the issue? What would the ramifications be for NCSU athletics? How many times have pack fans been screwed out of a SEASON by the unofficials (gonna happen to us this year), think about it!? Then think about how many GAMES the blues got screwed by the refs. I can’t think of one (though I’m SURE I missed IT). Why are we forced to accept this lot? Why can’t we do something about it. I’d like to share some quality wins with my boys before they get old enough to see through the bull$41t and pick another school just to get away from the hex!! And I couldn’t blame them. If a freaking book of pure fiction can bring down the Wolfpack Basketball program, why can’t we find some way to expose the freaking truth about the holes?

OK, the refs suck, the league sucks, and the deck is generally stacked against the Pack. I do believe refs can control the outcome of games (and freq do in acc), whether directly (like the cuse game) or indirectly (like most confr rival losses, early foul trouble for our key players). It’s been this way for two decades. Problem is, nothing you can do about it except back yourself in a corner and force yourself to “quit watching ncsu sports”…or just accept that we will continue to get screwed by the acc power ncsu-haters (swoffass, refs et al, media blue-lovers), until the head of the snake is severed. Even then, the money backs the power teams in the power confrcs, which we are not, so once again, stacked against us. I just watch and try not to let the bs ref calls get the best of me, and focus on what we need to do to improve (30% FTs, choking in last 2 mins, missing rebounds, forcing shots, and generally looking lost and flat-footed in the clutch. We have talent, and with experience, we could be great. Gott has to build confidence, and encourage the leader(s) to emerge, work on the things that are hurting morale. Practice those effing FTs!!!!! Every effing loss we’ve had except the va blowout could have been won on FTs. I wish someone smarter than me could come up with a reasonable way to sever the head of the snake but it looks like that won’t happen any time soon. And what the hell can you do about the refs? Nothing. So, I just watch and hope that we can put a complete game together…enough beat both teams on the floor every conf game. Sanity. I hope I live long enough to see the Pack rise again, but won’t happen until K retires, Swampassfford is gone, UNC athletics is pounded in the ass by NCAA, and Cuse wins a couple of national championships.

Maybe coaching staff needs to take a new approach during the before game talk…why do our guys always look so spastic and jittery at the start of every game…throwing up bricks and hurried/forced shots? They seem to always need a “calm-down” TO before things start clicking, and by then many points down!!

Free throws…it’s a broken record! Never be a good team without getting better from the stripe. Wins will mostly be marginal, and we’ll lose a lot of games by a couple points due to lousy free throw shooting. Just gotta get better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
