I watch a game, we get creamed, I pay no attention, we win with heart. This is my conundrum! I’m like the basement dude on the Bud commercial…

Is it possible that we could be last in conference in both football and basketball this year? Has that ever happened?

NASCAR sucks now compared to the product before expansion…look at the ratings. And I don’t guess there would even be a winner if Jimmie Johnson quit driving. Loved that sport before, now it sucks, and even worse with the clone cars they drive now and on-track etiquette requirements. Dilution by expansion, revenue markets, meaningless paper bowl games, elimination of rivalries (bball esp!), the overall blandness of it all = passive and disconnected fan base that can hardly call itself fanatic, which in turn will contribute fewer and fewer dollars to the alumni’s sports superfund! I’m into other things…

Decades of corruption from UNCheat. How many ways can an institution cheat to provide a “winning” product? Will be interesting to see how long it takes before these glaring articles become exhibitA, exhibitB, etc. As long as the cheaters win and bring in revenue, it will continue to be overlooked by NCAA, and as long as the Swofties of the world rule the conference governing bodies, well, the cheaters will keep winning and bringing in revenue. It doesn’t take a grad from NCSU to figure this out…in fact, I think even a “student athlete” from UNCheat could come up with it, albeit he couldn’t write it down! That Post article is just sad…those “papers” looked like text msgs!!! The fact that they continue to get away with such corruption and fraud is disgusting…and their arrogance in spite of everything, makes me hate everything that is TARHOLE!!!!!

Coaching! I like Gott but he’s gotta do better with clock management and put emphasis on areas where we are weak…esp when it costs us the tight games and come-from-behind-losses. How many times are FTs gonna kill us before it’s hours and hours of extra practice at the charity stripe. Practice = perfect, see L Byrd, T Woods, etc. Also, what’s up with the BS t/o with 35sec left in 1st half? Needed that one later in the game. Also, when we are up with a couple mins, and we know we can’t hit FTs or 3s, why is there absolutely no press AT ALL! Why didn’t we drive on them more and kick it out, draw a foul late? We can move the ball on offense, so why didn’t we in the last 1.5min i/o stand around dribbling? MOVE THE BALL! Can’t do anything about a freshman missing cringe-worthy FTs…but practice!! Forget the refs, they’ll never win a game for you. Make FTs and you won! Drive in for higher pctg shots and you won. Just a couple more key rebounds…prbly won! I didnt’ think Moo was really that good, maybe not even top 25, and we should have won this game. A lot of games won can be credited to coaching. I think this loss was coaching. Excusing mediocre play makes mediocre players (see CJL), and it is a contagious disease that affects the team (see CJL). Get pissed and bring it! I’m just saying.

Refs don’t control missed FTs and bricks. We had too many misses to win tnite. We have a coaching problem. We needed that wasted timeout at the end of the game. Players played hard but not smart sometimes, again coaching. No excuses…we gave this one away!!

And I’ve said for years now, we will never be a winning program til the team can hit FRE THOWS DAMMMMMIT. We get beat these tight games every time because of free throws. Why didn’t we full court press in the last 2 min?

Here is how it works in the ACC for NCSU, refs let our bigs and shooters play until ACC games start, and even a little further in league play until we play one of the blues. Then comes the abrupt end to the style we’ve been developing and honing all along as PF’s pile up in the first half and we’re scrambling for a totally new game plan! What to do now? Not only do they cripple the team with foul trouble early, they destroy the style of play, momentum, and thus chemistry that has been evolving from game to game. All the while, the opposite is happening with the blues, where mysteriously their PFs come late in the game when they’re up by 15, and the refs need to call some stats-equalizing recip fouls. On paper it looks pretty square but it’s a leveraged win for the blues every time. Extrapolate that out over several loser seasons (ACC ranking) for us and you now cripple any chance of recruiting over one of the blues. Multiply that times the number of regular season, tournament, and national titles we’ve won over the last couple decades, and voila…swoffy mclovin acc ref freakin paradise baby! Cue the music.

DD is a good coach, and he will be successful here. You don’t get anywhere without taking some risks, and I like the fact that he is willing to do it. He prbly made some decisions this year to test the water, both on and off the field. We will forget this whole season and everything around it, except the w/l stat, as it was forgettable for sure. With a good team, some of his decisions could have been called genius. One piece of advice in the letter going forward though: Replace “those” and “you” to “us” and “we”…for better or worse you’re in the boat with us DD!! Merry Christmas
