Wisconsin all the way. At least Ryan had the nads to call out UNC-CH and Ole Roy. Used to pull for Duke before K and in his early years. Can’t do it now cause his defensive style (or should I say what he is allowed to teach and they get away with) and the flops are part of what makes NCAA BB suck compared to the NCSU-MD ACCT final style of play.

I fully expect UNC-CH to get a free pass. There are more important things for NCAA to worry about than minority kids being cheated by the system. There is a rouge pizza parlor in Indiana for example.

I will though enjoy throwing the “book” up at UNC fans EVERYTIME I hear there arrogant mouth try to tell me how superior their school is to NC State. The fact that two former employees with long times to the school are the authors is much more of a validation that having a part-time sports writer and full time loser like Golenbok being paid to write a book of dirt on a coach it was well documented that he had a personality issue and disdain for due to his petty feelings being hurt.

Transfers? Louisville? Pitino? No final 4?

We all know how this is gonna end.

Pitino is averaging how many transfers a year now?

And what about Mark Few? Why would it take 16 years to crack the Elite 8? Gonzaga shoulda dumped him after 10…Ceilings,ya know.

If K doesn’t win it all…it’s proof positive that his time is up. Too many early exists of late.

A Statistical review says Few sucks. He is a first weekend coach at best.

Agree with everything here. By the end this was a special team. Good year for both football and basketball. Looking toward to next year.

Now if I could just get the Charlotte Observer to respond to my request to quit sending the emails offering me the publication “Dean: The Man the Legend” all would be great. I keep telling them when they publish something called “Dean the Truth: The Drunk the Cheat” then I will buy it.

    Agreed.

By his associations, Rick, I’m sure, is a “good guy”. But NC State is not just HIS team. NC State is also MY team. NC State is OUR team.

His ripping is done HERE, not in a vacuum. It’s going to elicit responses. They are postings, not edicts. With the nature, tone, and frequency of his commentary, the responses should be expected.

    Foos,
I understand your position. I respectfully ask you to stop responding to my posts. It is clear you and I are not going to agree so I suggest we agree to disagree.

Then I respectfully request that you and others quit posting offensive comments about OUR team in a public forum. Constructive criticism is one thing but questioning intelligence of players is another. You can do what you like in private but here is different. Not sure why that is so hard to get across.

Per the Valvano reference, for those of you who were not around, Valvano was ripped during his time here. There were many none too pleased with Kenny Drummond, Murray State, Mike Giomi… who were saying it was time for him to move on. Even The Technician joined in.

Time and circumstance has caused such memories to fade, but it was there, and not in insignificant amounts.

This! I have posted this multiple times but it never seems to be understood. Some want to say Gott is no Valvano. Well I loved Valvano as a coach but he had not reached his potential not was he Rick Pitino statue. If he had been allowed to stay at State as think he would have been Coach K and past Dean Smith statue but he didn’t. What Gott has done in four years is equal to what Valvano did. Yes he won a magical NC but he also did not inherit a program that was sacrificed and left for dead almost 20+ years.

tex… i’m guessing this is the answer you’re getting from ricky …
    Ricky..

I think we will see this opportunity again. Twice in four years is as good as UNC and Duke in last four years. I could care the freak less about the reg season. Play well enough to get into the dance with a decent seed and be at top of your game. Or would you be more happy to have Jay Wright? The last four years I will take our two missed chances.

But by all means please ignore the question. I also never saw an answer to my earlier question about just who you and Jigs think we could go after and get after Gott has taken us to Sweet 16 in two out of the past four years. All I got was a BS SMH from another poster because it is ok for a select few to rail and piss all over the program but heaven help us if someone defend it.

Well RICK BARNES is now available, so hope springs eternal, haters!

Someone dared to day something negative that I cannot counter. Thus I will resort to calling them ‘haterzzzzz’.
It is called sarcasm. College BB is an emotional game. The NCAAT is a one and done. Anything can happen. Takes luck and breaks along with execution and talent. I think it has been documented the pack did not catch one break with regards to Cat. They got beat tonight. Does not make them a horrible team nor Gott a horrible coach

It was a disappointing performance by most of the team and coaching staff but it’s not a shock to anyone who has watched this team at all this season. They had amazing potential and showed it at various times throughout the season but equally could fall back into bad habits and fall flat. Not shocked in the least in how the tournament played out, what is surprising they got past LSU.

No what is surprising is that you show up with your BS after this game but yet were silent after the Nova game. Oh wait … Not surprising at all.

Yeah because my entire life revolves around getting on a blog win or lose. This team showed exactly what they were all season, streaky. It’s not negative to point out the facts. They would play well for a game or 2 or even less than that. They are what they are. I pull for them to succeed but I don’t ignore what is reality just because I’m a fan.

LMAO. Is Josh Earnest you alter ego?

The easy shots they got is what did us in. Nobody was able to do that all year. And our energy/focus was totally fine. Their plan/execution was excellent, and the relentlessness eventually wore us down. We got off the mat more times than most would have.

Exactly we got off the mat when I expected us to fold several times. I would have expected many teams to fold tonight against Louisville’s play.

Giga nailed it. Coaches didn’t do well. Don’t expect much difference in future. However, compared to our recent past, this is heaven to most of you guys.

Diagree. I was around when Valvano team had an 8 OT lead on Kansas in Elite 8 game early second half and played just like we did tonight losing by 8 or so. Not sure what you can bitch about this season when you were replacing TJ Warren and had a lot of unknown parts to put together. I am proud of the kids and the season.

    I like this article better

    http://m.bleacherreport.com/articles/2407667-herb-sendek-fired-by-arizona-state-latest-details-comments-reaction

    Especially this:

We have a four-prong approach when it comes to evaluating all of our head coaches: integrity, academics, performance, and fan affinity advancement. Herb has been a true leader in the first two categories and his dedication to ensuring our student-athletes become successful young men has been unrivaled.

However, our athletics department, university and community expect our men’s basketball program to compete consistently for Pac-12 titles, make regular trips to the NCAA Tournament, keep the best in-state talent, and energize our fans and donors. Unfortunately, we have fallen short of these expectations.

Cat didn’t develop in a vacuum. If Lewis didn’t transfer, Cat ain’t being Cat. Among the reasons why is that he he sometimes cares too much.

Gott has his faults, but he gets bonus kudos for the right combo of patience, understanding, and firm hand in Cat’s development.

In spite of Barber’s youth, most here had already thrown up their hands in anger and frustration. Seems those folks benchmark all freshman by phenom/Kentucky standard. smh.

    Very well put.

    I despise Kansas.

Me too ever since Larry Brown and that Elite 8 match we loss on their home court with typical Larry UNC Brown fouls called against it.

Glad to see them forced to play the Shockers and get their ass handed to them. I like Gregg Marshall.

His remark is everywhere. USA Today, Washington Post, NY Post and Times, Fox, etc. this is a turd headline:

“The first thing to do after you win a huge NCAA tournament game is CURSE OUT THE PRESIDENT ON LIVE TV”

Sorry I just don’t get the big deal or how this is disrespectful to the POTUS as comments and articles have said or implied.

Maybe he should have read SFN and called it out instead. Then Greg Doyel, Jeff Goodman and Matt Norlander would have sang his praises.

Good defense. Good game plan. Great execution and poise. Two second weekend appearances in four years. Hoping to see us stick around for second part of next weekend. An elite 8 would be great.

This thread is missing the key master troll from the game thread. I get it – you HATE Gott but for the love of God just enjoy a win by your school in March Madness.

I recall during and after the Providence game in 1983 Tournament people talking about Vslvano bring in above his head, sucks as coach, he will get one or two more years at most. I did not like then and I don’t like it now.

If you want a new coach please explain to me who you go after and how you get him? What is your plan? You think if we let Gott go after 4-4 making the tournament and a strong experienced team
coming back that anyone would get us a look basis Gott’s relationships in the business?
