Rick — the point is the Pack has lacked the necessary experience (per player and as a team). Next year looks to be better. This bodes well for the Pack.
Rick — no additions. As originally noted:
1) They don’t even have to be burger boys — they need to be good,
2) they need experience,
3) and they need to have played together.Wisky is the perfect example:
Top 7 players were
* RS senior
* Sophomore
* Senior
* Junior
* Sophomore
* RS senior
* SeniorFrom what I can tell, none are transfers. No freshmen.
Rick — the playing together part is important. This was the 1st and only year Cat/Lacey/Turner played together.
Teams not named Kentucky/Duke/Kansas etc. that are successful in the tourney do so in general on having experienced teams that have played together.
Go look at Verbal Commits — the cumulative impact of all those in the Sr. and Jr. columns that have left the program hurts.
I think the missing piece for NC State has been experience. Loaded young teams like Kentucky can go far (and even win the championship), but the teams that generally do the best have good juniors and seniors playing lots of minutes. They don’t even have to be burger boys — they need to be good, they need experience, and they need to have played together.
Barring some injuries/transfers we may have something next year we haven’t had for a long time.
That Wisconsin basket shouldn’t have counted. Right? Didn’t Turner get called for something like that this year?
Well, I came away from that knowing much more about the SFN nicknames while at the same time a bit concerned about BJD95 … 😉

As for KW, those rumors have been floating ever since Freeman rightly replaced him as a starter.
I hope KW returns, bulks up a bit and works on his D. Having 4 different “big” types was very helpful this year.
I hate to ask but this part is troubling: “. . . and is reported to be close friends with State player Kyle Washington.”
I’m hoping this is just Wallace looking for PT at another program that makes more sense.
However, I’d rather get the pain out of the way … is Washington considering a transfer as well?
Proud of the Pack. At the beginning of the year I had no idea we would make the Sweet 16.

No, nope, nyet, negative, negatory.
That was complete domination. Kentucky’s 1st half total was more than WVU’s for the entire game: 44-39.
Couple of interesting stats:
* The head coach at LSU was an assistant for Gottfried at Alabama in 2000-2001
* This is the first trip to the big dance for LSU in six years. Hope “just happy to be here” is a factor for them.
LSU’s lone national title came in 1935
NOPE. This is a Helms Foundation “title” — the same California baker that gave the Holes their fake 1923 title.
Another Key: can our “Bigs” stay out of foul trouble? Particularly Freeman and Anya.
