Bad calls true. As des lee just got hacked, but let’s all be honest with ourselves. The finger can be pointed ALOT of other places than the refs. Not an accusation that you were saying that. But this site has a trend of always exclaiming “WE GOT SCREWED BY THE REFS!!” Sorry if I misread that though.

I’m sorry, but those fouls calls on Abu and Anya were BS. Refs cannot make those mistakes.

I’m sorry dude. But the refs are not the reason ND has come back from 18 points down…

    The irony in the statement

They’ve got to guard us to, pal!”

is that they don’t have to guard FREE THROWS!!!

But that seems to be the difference maker.

The FT concern has been brought up since early in the season saying it’ll come back and haunt this team in games it needs to close out. Well…there you have it. One WTF loss to Wofford and 2 losses to [semi] legit division 1 opponents with only one semi quality win against UT. A paltry performance already playing for a bubble spot in the NCAAT before conference play.

The team is miles behind the Cheats and Dukies, weather you want to admit it or not. Just let the brutal reality to set in…

The Wolfpack cut the Mountaineers’ lead to one on three separate occasions, but were unable to close the gap. Following Lacey’s tip-in with 10:32 left, West Virginia outscored N.C. State 21-11 in a 6-minute span.

In that stretch, the Mountaineers were 8 for 9 on free throws and finished 14 for 21 from the line — including 11 for 15 in the second half.

Look at how many more FTs nc state got to shoot! And still lost because WVU were able sink the few that mattered. Keep saying that it’s not a big deal.

Wofford got blown out my Michigan in the first round last year…don’t know if that counts as tournament experience. They hardly played (or beat) anyone of notoriety last year.

Karl Cochran scored 14 points to lead Wofford, which shot just 36 percent but hung right with the Wolfpack (8-2) all afternoon before rallying from six down in the final 3 1/2 minutes for the win…
…N.C. State was in position to close this one out after Lacey’s jumper pushed the lead to 52-46 with 3:27 left. But…

Must be nice to shoot 36% and win, at the expense of NC State of course.

Nc State did typical NC State chit…

Unfortunately the better team lost tonight, but then again State is only marginally better than Wofford which doesn’t bode well for the pack.

A team that’s anywhere near good enough for the NCAAT can shake off Karl Hess and not let a worse team hang around and win after being up most of the second half. Wofford would have crushed charleston southern too and probably would have a similar record against our opponents. Nothing good came from tonight, obviously.

This loss is more telling of the team than it is damaging to the season.

Our center, who had taken every snap of the season, goes out in the first quarter and a true freshman guard moves over to center and the offense doesn’t miss a beat.

To be fair, the game plan for the heels was very straight forward and simple which is very conducive for an inexperienced guy to come in and thrive against a very weak D front. Lots of under center and simple run schemes. Thankfully though, he absolutely made the most of it and did very well.

This performance definitely raises the question “where the heck has this been all season?!” as we’ve seen JB under pressure a lot(and I do think the explanation IN PART is this was a very different game plan than the previous games). I remember the O line being touted as a strength of the team going into the year. Hopefully they are starting to gel and come back stronger next year! It’s always good when you have a guy go down and someone can come replace him without missing a beat.

    Free Throws:

    Jax 15-17(.882)

    NCSU 18-28 (.643)

That’s going to bite this team later.

No idea how/why this hasn’t been a point of emphasis since last year.

Nice job getting tagged by USA today. Are they interested in UNC coverage or nc state coverage? I had a three paragraph post I’ve tried submitting on this thread several times and it just refreshes with the text still in the typed in the box but never posts. That’s actually happened several times on different threads recently too. I guess my post wasn’t UNC scandal centric enough to add value here…

IMHO It may be a toss up between USF and GA Sourhern for best OOC win…but I’m not even sure if that’s an argument worth having lol.

I guess the take away is supposed to be “hey, we suck in our conference but we’re 1 point better than a stud in a conference of cupcakes!”

I get both sides. The win is definitely a little more “quality” than initially thought. GA southern definitely wassn’t a pushover per se, so credit to them (hate that term) for that, but yeah, I’m looking forward to the days where this program is elevated above this entire subject. Could be worse though. Coulda lost that one…

The only troubling thing I see overall is Free Throws….

Lacey was 3-7, the team was 21-32, 65.6%

    Jackson ST went 17-23, 73.9%.

State needs to make 75% of its FTs. Going to need those extra points later in the year.

The game was exciting other than that!

The one thing Jackson state is better at is free throws. It’s troubling to see that sinking free throws hasn’t been a major point of emphasis/improvement over the offseason…

I think they look awesome. However, the team is .500 and hardly has a singnature victory. Furthermore, Wake isn’t even a big game aside from getting bowl eligible, which I guess is big in some regard. But shouldn’t stuff like this be saved when winning the division is on the line and Clem or FSU is coming to town? I know it gets the players hyped up, but I think this “wad” shouldn’t blown on such a insignificant game. Save it for a special one.

State just did everything it could to give SU the game, but thanks to a 3rd string fresh qb (whose going to be really good eventually) who threw a pick 6 and fumbled to give State a possession that would eventually score on a short field.

How uncharacteristic it was for state to get penalized to keep beating itself. It got a little help from SU penties to balance it. But wow. What an ugly win. A bowl game is definitely possible!!

The O got in a rut after the first quarter and never really recovered sans the help from SU which is very concerning.

However, if state and UNC continue on their current trajectories, this could make for a happy ending. Saw a lot of learning experiences for this young team and hopefully a W on an otherwise ugly game will breed more Ws due to confidence/motivation.
