I’ve got a friend who was a recruit in the late 60’s who said Carolina offered him a car, money, and to give his girlfriend a job.
Of course he’s a huge Carolina fan. His favorite UNC player is Roman Gabriel. Seriously.
It seems like if UNC is not punished, other member schools could use that as a precedent to challenge NCAA sanctions past and present.
…and games played with ineligible athletes must be forfeited.
The thought of UNC losing two or more banners makes me turgid.
This is all great, but I’m afraid nothing is going to happen. I think the NCAA, Swof and UNC cut a deal a while back. That’s the only reason the football program got even a slap on the wrist.
I think you’re mostly correct, but there’s nothing like public outcry to shame people into action.
I’d love to hear someone ask Roy if it ever seemed strange that when a player was nearing ineligibility, they magically got the exact grade they needed to maintain a 2.0.
It will ‘all’ be ‘revealed’ to the public at a 1 PM presser. I’m taking some side action on the following lines:
Number of times the phrase “had no knowledge” is uttered: over/under 7
Number of times “the Martin Investigation did it’s job” is mentioned: over/under 5
Number of times Jennifer Wiley’s picture is shown: over/under 4

Could you give a quick web reference to it or maybe explain it? I do NOT pretend to be a student of Lincoln or his history, but I can seem to locate it and the circumstances prompting his making it.

You didn’t overlook anything other than a whirling crap storm I unintentionally started, which culminated in me offering a $10 bet to a certain keymaster that they couldn’t make a reasonable post in response to me. Then I changed my username and avatar to match that certain keymaster, and subsequently had my username changed so that I was locked out of my account. In memoriam, I added the, “I want my $10” quote, and attributed it to Lincoln because it amused me.
It was pretty funny, in retrospect, but not something that is either important or even interesting.

IThe talent is bad but it is not zero acc wins for two years bad. Five years is going to be a lifetime.
I dunno….we only won games prior to Doeren because we had a moderate defense, and NFL quarterbacks. We haven’t had a running game since god only knows when. Andre Brown maybe?
Last year was the perfect storm of suck, with a lack of talent, poor s&c, youth and inexperience, and injury.
This year we’ve only played three ACC games, and I doubt we go winless, although I admit it does feel like a possibility.
bottom line: it’s not a DD thing, it’s a DY thing.

Can anybody remember what Doeren’s record in conference is? I can’t remember, and I’m too lazy to look it up. It can’t be good.
I wish we had gone for it. Can’t stop anybody, so what difference does it make if they get it at our 40 or their 40.
