Gebus. Our players can’t even come up with creative ways to get into trouble. I foresee them having a nice future in our sports information department!

I laughed out loud reading this article about the SEC culture being special. A site dedicated to NC State and the ACC, and you write that you’re home on the couch watching the Wolfpack on tv, and then turn the game off in the first quarter to watch, drum roll, the SEC games! Because of fans like you, this is why the ACC will never be special. SEC fans support the team at home, on the road, and treat every game like it’s special. And yes, I was there in Clemson Saturday to the bitter end pulling for the boys. You want a top rate football program, you have to have top rate fans. So, just turn the tv off, don’t go to games, and we’ll continue to get leftover recruits and be a second rate football conference. And, you can continue to complain about it in your posts.

    I must say I don’t get this.

But, to add to my failings, I also don’t finish books that I don’t like.

Life is too short to spend my leisure time doing something that isn’t enjoyable.

But you know, if you can sit back and ignore the game, some of those aren’t so bad. The great Maryland comback a few years back I almost left early. But since the day was decent and I had family around we just chatted and hung around. Glad I did. Don’t really fault those that did leave.

If coach had to look very hard for a mosque, he clearly hasn’t spent much time between ligon & method roads.

I was late for class due to bus delays there several times since I took advantage of the free parking on Method rd. Though I did get a chance to meet and talk with some nice Muslim folks, which was a nice change of pace from what you get in the news.

    That’s something right?

All this is symptomatic off a team who basked in the “good job losing” talk earlier this week

Disagree. This is a team that can’t keep Clemson from the backfield.

I think we need to get some quick passes going. We can’t hold the ball behind the line for 3 seconds

I’ve been surprised by the lack of pressure the defensive line is getting on a consistent basis. In the first quarter we seemed to be in Jameis’ face early and often, but as the game wore on, we just couldn’t get there. Could be due to fatigue or a change in scheme by FSU and a lack of reaction by our defensive coaches.

At least part of that was uncalled holding. Quite a few plays where one of our defenders was being held split seconds away from Winston right before he threw the ball. The holding was just enough to give him a bit of extra time. I also felt like frustration from that not getting called may have had to something to do with the personal foul roughing the passer penalty. From what I remember, most of it was on the edges not inside the line.

I suspect we had two sacks left on the field due to holding and several of them didn’t help our 3rd down defense stats.

Why don’t we let the straw man rest in peace.

I suggest killing it with fire.

I don’t have a problem with the fake injuries. If it isn’t against the rules it’s fine and the rules will adapt.

Faking an injury is against the rules. It falls under the delay of game umbrella. Problem is, as the rules stand now, it can not be proven.

    Touche.

But, if the rule is unenforceable, it is as toothless as having no rule. Eventually, if it is deemed a real problem, rules will adapt.

Don’t get me wrong, I want to see the rules changed to force a 3-4 play sit-out period after an “injury” to stop it. But lets be honest, in a game where people gouge eyes, hold every other play, dive on clearly down players after a fumble to try to come up with the ball, and basically push the boundaries of the rules non-stop this seems quite minor on the poor sportsmanship offense front.

Plus, a lot of these “injuries” probably are stress related pains. Lord knows I’ve been in situations (I wrestled in high school, poorly) where fatigue + a hard knock made me think I had an injury but 30-45 seconds of rest and I was fine enough to walk off the mat. Sore, but fine. A bump or bang that in the 1st 2 minutes would hurt but not slow you down will put a tired man on his back. Unfortunately, in wrestling that 30-45 seconds of rest usually came after being pinned on my back due to my fatigue “injury”.

Just look at the basketball rules regarding fouling at the end of a game. I’m sure fans of other teams hated the tactic but it worked. Eventually rules were altered to change the balance of power back to offense.

It seems human nature is geared to vindicate original assessments as opposed to applying Bayesian logic – i.e., use new information to continually update opinions.

I went from Good Hire – to Questionable Hire – to Even More Questionable Hire – to Maybe a Good Hire.

Hindsight Bias abounds on this thread.

I think Matt Canada has shown tremendous and consistent ability in his play calling. Even last year I was optimistic about the offensive play calling but the execution just wasn’t there (no QB).

DD still has question marks and is far from certain the next Mack Brown. Time will tell, but one thing is certain, I will update my thinking based on new information.

Our defense is incredibly atrocious though in large part due to a lack of talent. I think if DD continues to recruit well (this class is blah on paper) and trends upwards, the sky is the limit for a good coach. I hope he is a significantly better than average coach b/c we are nowhere near close to having Clemson or Fl State talent. We will have to out-scheme and out-coach the 2 best coaching staffs int he ACC.

I suggest you reduce your sampling rate and add a first season burn-in for your analysis. Otherwise you look schizophrenic.

I don’t see what the big deal is. Sure, the kid looks like a goofball.

So what? So he is friends with the players and is out there joking around with them. If the coaches don’t deem it distracting, and the players are having fun, why not?

The real question is, why did he get an interview, even on ESPNU…. That’s a real head scratcher.

I’ve had good luck with the leaf antennae. http://www.gomohu.com

Shipped from capital blvd in raleigh, NCSU graduate and VT grad owned/operated.

I’d get the amplified model. Not the cheapest by any means. But generally unobtrusive, inoffensive design.

If you need bigger for stations 20+ miles away they have an amplified attic model as well, though no personal experience. I own 3 leaf versions and like them. They do work better than bunny ears for me. With the leaf I get channels that bunny ears do not. And they come in fairly reliably, though not 100%. With bunny ears, it is almost no signal unwatchable.

Reportedly amazon sells an unamplified model under the amazonbasics brand for cheaper too that is a Leaf design copy. No personal experience.

Do be careful about fortified beverages. If on state property, last I heard, you can’t have anything stronger than beer. So keep the flask well hidden and be wary. That may have changed in recent years.

dammit! tell me the humidity in you guys f#$!ing houses

I’d be happy to. But I don’t have a hygrometer at home. I’d guess in the 40% range.

It is comfortable thought! Not that it helps you any to hear that!

Is the AC blowing cold air out of the vents? About a 20 degree differential from the return to the vents? If so, sounds like the AC isn’t the culprit. A leak is possible in a water pipe. Or, you might have bad duct work somewhere. Any gas appliances that could be venting improperly?

One other possibility is the new AC was improperly sized for the space. Too big and it will not cycle on for long enough meaning the air will cool but not dehumidify sufficiently because it only runs for a few minutes at a time.

Corn, in any form, except for maybe liquor, can set my diverticulosis off at any time…I’m gambling on the Brunswick Stew that I’m eating right now…

The ugly drum smoker is a nice one. Haven’t built one yet, but will eventually. Not quite the match for the egg in set and forget, but generally much better than the walmart brinkman offset. As long as you get a nice, heavy drum and seal the holes to keep heat in.

Never heard of diverticulitis from corn. Some folks in my family had it and for them it was basically any berry, tomatoes, etc. Seemed like it would suck.

The nice thing of being stressed the f-ck out and having migraine tendencies AND a stomach that can’t handle anything good anymore…I’m down 25 pounds this year and 10 away from my college weight.

It also helps that I find things like mayo and Miracle Whip nasty. I’m down to eating as little artifical flavoring as possible. No fried food (God, do I miss fried chicken), chocolate, candy. Very little red meat or bacon. In process of cutting out popcorn (and with that, probably the will to live).

Oatmeal, v8 fruit/veggie blend, saltines, wheat toast with spreadable fruit, boiled chicken a few times a week for protein. Oh yeah, you must be so jelly.

Dear lord, I want to off myself just reading that. If it wasn’t for good food, I’m not sure I’d make it through the day.

Most references I’ve seen say most vegetables like slightly acidic soil 6.5ish. Frankly, lots of soil in NC is very hard to get to that range. But quicklime can give plants a good help short term.

Tomatoes have become some of the hardest things to grow in NC. And squash too.

Between viruses and fungal blights, you can lose 20-30% in a year. Some years even more. Just in case you were not aware, NC has one of the most perfect climates for fungal disease development. Always look for resistant varieties.
