I never liked anything coming from Maryland, but their President just delivered a slap down to UNX that made me smile.

“University of Maryland President Wallace Loh says he thinks the NCAA’s current investigation into former conference rival North Carolina would lead to a shutdown of athletic programs at the university.

Loh made the comments last week during a Maryland senate meeting last week.”

“4-Star PG Lavar Batts Flips from VCU to NC State” >>> Bleacher Report

“N.C. State hired UNC Wilmington’s Kevin Keatts to replace Mark Gottfried as coach on March 17. Keatts apparently didn’t waste any time pursuing the electric point guard, who ended his prep career at Cabarrus County’s all-time leading public-school scorer with 2,174 points.

“We talked to about three or four different schools,” Batts Sr. told the Independent Tribune Saturday. “Lavar met with a few coaches, trying to figure out what he wanted to do. He had a great meeting with Coach Keatts.”

Batts Jr. is the first player to commit to N.C. State under Keatts.” >>> Independence Tribune

Looks like Keatts has transplanted a 4 Star from VCU’s garden.

I never believed that A. Miller was the heir apparent nor the savior of our basketball program simply because he played here and had some success at Dayton.

Understanding the reality of where our basketball program has fallen to, I believe Kevin Keatts is a very good hire for us. The players have met him and are excited. NCSU leadership is excited about him. The fan base should get behind the coach and the team and get excited about our future success.

I see a brighter future for the Pack and I’m encouraged that we will return to one of the top basketball programs in our conference.

Positive Mental Attitude. It’s that simple.

    From CBS Sports:
“Every power conference AD will be drooling over Dayton-Wichita State

It seems like Dayton’s Archie Miller and Wichita State’s Gregg Marshall are the two coaches working outside a power conference who most often get mentioned for high-profile openings. Coincidentally, they’ll coach against each other Friday night.

And you just know the people at NC State, Missouri, LSU and Illinois will be watching and dreaming.”

Now that the Pack has officially bowed out of the tourney, it’s time the carousel development go into high gear.

I predict your predictions are correct. A confirmation of the great oracle as it were.
I see this situation in a totally positive light…like the planets beginning to align for us.
    Moving forward…
We clean house of the Gottfried regime (something that should have been done earlier, but now is better than later)
We bring in (i.e. pay the man!) a star HC named Archie Miller; an alumni who is loved by the fan base; is a great recruiter; and is passionate about his Alma mater and players (i.e. does not insult them…at least publicly),
We give HC significant control of the AD selection process moving beyond 2020,
We maintain the talent level on the team by convincing some to stay or to recruit hard early and fill the gaps

Even if the above doesn’t fall into place exactly, we will now be in a better position next season than we would have with no change.

True about the Head Hunting agencies making the calls instead of the AD, but unfortunately Miller said he hasn’t been contacted “by anybody” so I assume that means no one has contacted him about our vacancy, including search firms.

Dayton Flyers coach Archie Miller said Thursday his alma mater, North Carolina State, has not contacted him about coaching the Wolfpack next season.

Information can be leaked out unintentionally or intentionally.

Although I believe Yow clearly saw this day coming (and hopefully made the appropriate moves in advance to position NC State well for the search ahead) I can’t help but think this situation went down “not according to plan”.

Why not fire Gottfried at the end of the season if your plan is to have him coach the remainder of the games anyway? As Yow stated in her presser, she typically evaluates the teams direction at seasons end. Why now? What is the purpose?

I don’t know if there was a final blowup during one of Yow’s after-game evaluation meetings, and the immediate firing came as a result, but keeping him on as coach the remainder of the season just doesn’t make any sense for the team.

They have obviously quit on him and he has quit on them.
