TJ could have been 1st team all american and NPOY, overall #1 pick avg 30 pts per game. Win NCAA title with back to back 50 point games in final 4. Thats how.

I thought the celtics had more than 1 first rounder? Would hate to see him in MInn. Surprised they’d take KJ Mcdaniel over Shabazz Napier. Also, where are the Harrisons?

I’m gonna ignore that last comment. Here’s to hoping Corch Jr. can contribute some while at State. Makes me feel old though.

iirc Bean was here like 2 weeks. Wells obviously needed more shots.

Well, it went a little something like this (the rumor). Adam, Arch, and Archie’s lady friend just could not all get along for some reason or the other. Funny how often chick problems get cited with basketball team related turnover (staff or players).

Quick question. I did type a post last week that referenced the names of political parties in it. Is that the reason it never posted? I’m assuming it is verboten?

Yes, I agree. I’ve kind of moved beyond Sterling and into politics which is why I quit posting in this thread about a week ago. I’ve been reading and Rick sucked me back in. -mea culpa.

If other owners are stupid enough now to spew hate as Sterling did, even in private (again, the courts have held nothing uou say to another person is truly private), then they will get what the deserve as well. Something tells me it won’t happen.

This is what scares me about this event. Who defines what is considered “hatred”? I just have an inherent problem with trying to punish thoughts and words no matter how much I might disagree with them. That is a very scary road to go down.

There seems to be a movement to label people who disagree with the PC movement as “hate”. The first step to controlling people is to control their speech.

Thank you Rick. This is 100% truth. I feel like we’re heading this route wrt special “rights”.

Freedom of association and dissassociation should be protected imo. This is why I have always supported the Masters from being able to have a club in which they associate with who they want to associate with. If I have a party or club I should be able to invite my guest list, not the government’s.

I was glad to see the Supreme Court ruling on prayer before town hall meetings though. At least that was protected.

Theres a pic I saw recently of one of V’s last teams. Had Del Negro, Monroe, Corch, B. Howard, C. Brown, Shackleford. We have not had that type talent since the 80’s, sorry. Talent vastly over estimated. And when we did have any talent there were MAJOR deficiencies elsewhere on the court. Usually at the dominant position in college, point guard.

Daniel, not what I’m saying. My point is political and probably off topic, so I won’t continue.

Gee whiz, who wants to go to a football conference to play basketball in flyover country. No way I’d want to be stuck in BFE Kansas for four years.

Are you proud of or do you respect factions attempting to stretch the definition of “racism” to include political opposition? Blatant racism is one thing. However, I do not believe you can just say, “if you disagree, you are racist”. That violates our value of “freedom of speech”. Not our constitutional right, but our values as Americans.

There certainly are plenty of idiots that proclaim any political opposition is racism. Some claim pollution is racist, statistics, criminal justice, personal preference, standardized testing, etc… Somehow as a society we need to get a grip on these false accusations. There are restrictions on freedom of speech and it’s not the government that is doing it. It is our current “witch hunt” society. Much of this “freedom of speech” talk is not necessarily talking about the actual legal definition, but about the spirit of the right as it pertains to an individual in society. A core value of being American. We should have the ability to critique and discuss issues without fear of false repercussions. But I’m afraid those days are drawing to a close. Do we really have “freedom of speech” when critique of a President is deemed racist? What is to prevent your boss from firing you for those “racist” sentiments? That’s not freedom of speech.

I agree that the NBA did the right thing from a monetary perspective. With that being said, the reason expressed at the press conference by the commish and in all the media is “moral outrage”.

^so you believe it is really all about the NBA losing money and not about him being morally wrong? The whole story is bizarre. I wonder why his apparent opinions and thoughts are more damaging to the league than his actual practices? And why now? The man seems to be a walking conundrum and also an idiot in many ways. Astounding he has managed to become a billionaire.

would they ban a player for saying they didn’t want a gay person on their team, a coach, a fan?

My take is it’s all a ripoff. They don’t get any real news faster than anybody else. Been proven over and over. If you want to pay for rumors, that’s your loss. You can get as many or more on the free sites. Also, just worry about who is on the team in a given year. Recruiting does not win any games. Our best path is probably with 4 year guys anyway who won’t generate much hype.

I don’t care about recruiting rankings. Just win baby. We probably have an easier path to a banner season using a senior laden team. If we can keep classes together for 4 years and throw in a TJ Warren/Julius Hodge “queen on the chessboard” type once every 4 years or so, I think that would be our best bet. It would take a few successive deep runs or championship seasons to start to expect top 15 classes year in and out. Frankly with the way the McD’s guys are so entitled, I would rather have the hard worker type with one superstar to bump us over the top.
