Back in the early 2000’s, I covered the ACC Tournament for our local newspaper. Press row becomes press ROWS for events like that, and I was sitting in maybe the third row. Duke was playing someone in the Friday night game, and a lady behind me was so pointed and loud yelling at the officials that I turned around several times to try to locate her in the crowd. When I finally did, turned out to be Coach K’s wife. She was just about as brutal with the refs as he was!

(This has almost nothing to do with this conversation, but references to coaches potty-mouth wives brought back that memory).

I actually wasn’t telling you to be glad about it. Just saying I am.

Wish I had proofread spelling before I hit submit.

I’m really hopeful. I think history will judge this as a terrific hire. Keats WANTS to be here. He’s well-connected. He plays an exciting brand of basketball, and I think he will win – a lot.

If Keats is the floor of this search, then we’re in a good position. He is going to be a successful coach at a high major school. I’m sure he’s not DY’s first call, but I wouldn’t be surprised (or upset) if he is the hire. During the first search (after Herb) we had a chance at Marshall (when he was at Winthrop), Laranaga (when he was at GW), Sean Miller (at Xavier). All were unproven, and we focused solely on bigger names. I’m thrilled at the crop of young, talented coaches this year. From my perspective, we’re in a good place, and the future looks much bright.

Sounds like Arizona State is the new “most unreasonable fan base in America.”

I hate Littlejohn. We never, ever, ever play well there. I’m thrilled for the win.

Clemson is trying to make this last two minutes look like St. Louis last year. We’ve hit some free throws this time, though.

It’s absolutely amazing how good our defense can play when we are dialed in . . . and how bad when we are not.

With humor, timing is everything. This is ill-timed. Too soon for sure.

I love this site, but this comes at the wrong time.

I don’t put this on the staff. Worst free throw shooting display I’ve ever seen. Warren left so many on the table.Just one would have been enough.

    Shades of Vanderbuilt 2004.

I hate to find out that I’m ignorant and perverse, but I think this team can be fun to watch. Besides, 5-5 right now is not so bad. Duke, Virginia, and the 2nd half of Pitt were horrific, but 4 out of 5 since the Duke debacle is strong. We have SO far to go, but the good news is, we’re 5-5 in the league and improving steadily.

Having said that, we were lucky to get out with a win today.
