Pack Loses Thursday Off, ACC Loses Last Shred of Credibility

In the most incompetently officiated game I have ever seen, on any level…NC State falls to the 5th seed and 11-7.

Anyone who doesn’t want to leave this bullshit joke of a conference needs their head examined.

    summing up…..

“Half the team didn’t want it today…. ” That’s right and anybody want to name …. names ???

“…. Leslie has the physical ability of an NBA all-star and the basketball IQ of a middle school player. He seems to be uncoachable…..” That’s right…. BUT everybody knew THIS when he was a high school junior….. so get over it…

Sit CJ…..(sic)… Coach is in a damn if you do and damn if you don’t position and can’t get out….. so CALVIN/C J will play….

” Even V pulled some boner moves… YES he did….
” and had teams that had their issues. …” YES he did, again….

    ‘GOTT + LUTZ’ … best coach since JV… ” thats right too…

We are building a program here folks…. one step a time…

So here’s what I’m going to do …..

    1. Pop a Top…
    2. Fire up the Big Green Egg….
    3. Watch Dook-Unx at nine pm and hope for a blood sacrifice and a one point win…. and I don’t care who wins….

’cause… The 60th ACC tournament starts on Thursday and I have seen about 55 of them… and ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE !!!

GOTT to turn a negative into a positive…..
PACK will be ready to play…. I promise.

There’s not much MG can do about it with 8 scholarship players. And there’s no exact handbook on fixing it. Stick vs. carrot, in what measure, etc. Tricky.

I haven’t had a drop to drink and i already have a hangover. Good thing my realtor just dropped off a nice bottle of Woodford Reserve.

Don’t confuse my criticim of Gottfried with placing the loss on him, or looking for a scapegoat. It was a team loss. There are a few things I despise about Gottfried. one of them is his substitution and bench use. I consider sitting top players on the bench in the foul trouble in the second half of a game when seeding is on the line just a piss poor decision. Even when we had a 7-8 point lead, I wanted one or both of Leslie and Howell in the game. Go out swinging. Guys, give me 3-5 minutes of smart, hard play, we’ll throw in a little zone to protect you, but i need you on the court.

Hell, even if Leslie or Howell foul out with 10 or 15 to play, who’s to say you’re any worse off? Unless you have the luxury of quality depth or a large lead, I think it stinks.

“I think that the MG critics are doing today what fans do…trying to find a scapegoat for the loss”

Oh, so they left the zebra show?

It’s still up there on the header…I just don’t get how otherwise sane and intelligent sportfans keep calling out the ACC on this “issue” of reffing. Blows my mind.

  7. BJD95 03/09/2013 at 6:04 PM #

I agree that MG kept the bigs on the bench too long. I probably would have used them one at a time the entire second half. But when they sit that long, it takes them completely out of their flow. No better than having ’em foul out.

But my criticisms of certain MG strategy are in all reality very small potatoes in the big picture.

“Oh, so they left the zebra show?”

What? Ya never heard of multitasking?

^ for some, it’s a good excuse to promote an ACC exit…or so it appears

  10. BJD95 03/09/2013 at 6:07 PM #

cowdog – I believe the ACC consistently has the worst officiating in the country, and has for years. It hurts our teams come NCAAT time, too.

So much the conference does is such complete crap. Old boy network TV deals, a complete homer moron for one team as commissioner, etc. The ref issue is just the cherry on top the ACC’s shite sundae.

  11. Whiteshoes67 03/09/2013 at 6:10 PM #

Did anybody notice that Gottfried mixed in a little 1-3-1 zone today? Played mostly 2-3 when they zoned, but there were at least 1 or 2 possessions where they were in a 1-3-1. Kind of liked it. But then he went away from it after it worked. Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t throw in more press againt FSU in Raleigh, which is what really sped the game up and broke it open? We saw it maybe for 1-2 minutes today, gave up a few easy ones, then went away from it

  12. BJD95 03/09/2013 at 6:10 PM #

I don’t make any secret of wanting to leave the conference. I don’t need any “excuses.”

The ACC is easily the weakest (thanks in part to incompetent management) major conference left. On top of that, the league seems to like poking us in the eye (KH tape incident). Why wouldn’t I want us out?

+1 – What BJD just said.

    Alpha- good comments- thanks.

Enjoyed reading the boards. Lots of good insight.

After having such a great feeling before the game….uggh. Later.

  14. BJD95 03/09/2013 at 6:11 PM #

Can’t press when you’re already in desperate foul trouble. Though I wonder if he would try to do that on the road in any event. Dunno.

Think I will take your advice, Bill.

We have had days like this — and under every coach I have ever seen coach NC State hoops — and we will have them again. It sucks, it makes you madder than a wet hornet, and at the end of the day, there’s nothing you can do as a fan other than hope they get ’em next time.

We ain’t Israel and Moses ain’t our coach and he sure doesn’t have Jesus, John The Baptist and Luke, Paul and John on the court with Mark waiting on the bench to give the Baptist a breather.

We do have some physically talented barely older than teenage kids doing the best they can do. Even when they eff it up, they’re still our kids and we still have to love ’em. As for our coach, remember, he was the one who said he’d come coach to uncoachable team, the one that could never, ever, ever compete against those blue teams on the wrong side of the Triangle. He’s done well so far, and he’s given us some good fun already and some hope for the future. So let’s not demand he walk on water or split the blue seas to the west quite yet.

We’re just NC State and one day — ONE DAY! — our time will come again. It just isn’t today. But there’s always next week in Greensboro.

  16. Codebrown 03/09/2013 at 6:13 PM #

Is anybody really THAT shocked? I mean aren’t we NC State?

We’ll be okay though. UVA is running out of gas. That said, why does Maryland always have our balls in their hands in everything?!?!?

  17. Rick 03/09/2013 at 6:14 PM #

“Oversampling of MG critics, which I just don’t get in the least. This year/mix has been a real challenge for any coach to handle.”

They have been laying in wait so they could come out and whine. I believe some are not NCSU fans as they only complain and criticize.

  18. BJD95 03/09/2013 at 6:15 PM #

^^^ Alpha, given all we go through as State fans…you are wise to have at least picked a soccer team that consistently wins. The only dependable franchise that I support is the St. Louis Cardinals.

  19. Whiteshoes67 03/09/2013 at 6:16 PM #

“some are not NCSU fans as they only complain and criticize.”

^and some would rather engage in pissing contests than talk sports

    Go Terps. I’m out

  21. Wufpacker 03/09/2013 at 6:17 PM #

OK, so when to we whip ’em out and measure?

  22. Rick 03/09/2013 at 6:18 PM #

Our starters had 19 fouls, theirs had 7.
So of course we must have played a ton more minutes, right?
Their starters played 122 minutes. Ours played 140 minutes.
The ACC officiating is the absolute worst.
We played bad because we never were allowed to play well.

  23. Rick 03/09/2013 at 6:19 PM #

“and some would rather engage in pissing contests than talk sports”

Oh yeah let me “talk sports” like you boys…
    “Gott sucks”
    “Gott can’t coach”
    “Fire Gott”

  24. Rick 03/09/2013 at 6:21 PM #

Restated for all the Gott haters.

Hey, remember when I said Cliff Paul probably punches Allstate agents in the nuts….and you said only the one named Jerry Hodge?

    That was cool.
