ParticipantWe’re quite a different team w/out Anya on the floor. Seems to have some Richard Howell syndrome. I still don’t like the half court O. Looks like a lot of dribbling and standing around. Caleb should get more minutes/start.
Cat and Lacey are dribbling too long before getting the team into the offense. The camera even caught Gott screaming “Run the offense” last night. When they came out of the TO with a 6 or 8 point lead last night and ran the offense right after the inbounds, Turner came off of a double screen and hit Frenchie for a slam. That is the way the offense is supposed to look. The four guys without the ball have to be active.
Cat and Lacey create a lot off of the dribble. We should take advantage of that late in the shot clock. It should not be the primary way we run our offense.
The officiating was an abomination.

ParticipantOregon, Alabama, FSU, tOSU
FSU and tOSU get the last two spots. FSU is an undefeated P5 Conference Champion. tOSU is a 12-1 conference champion being compared to an 11-1 TCU (not a champion) and an 11-1 Baylor. The eye test also leans their way.

I couldn’t begin to quantify the amount of sheer joy I’ve totaled over the years singing “The Red & White From State.”

ParticipantWe were middle of the pack on offense. Bottom end on defense, but we made up for that by taking care of the ball and not committing penalties.

ParticipantWe missed a lot of shots where we had good looks. We missed too mant FTs. We got whipped on the boards.
But when you play pretty decent defense, you still stay in games like that.
I think Cat was really affected by playing against somebody as quick as he is. That’s not something he sees very often. I do agree that we waited around for Lacey to bail us out. He’s not that good.
Gott is struggling with the KW/Anya/Frenchie minutes. We give up a lot of rebounding and gain scoring when Frenchie isn’t on the the floor. I’d like to see KW play the three just to evaluate that lineup.

ParticipantGood game Team
“This is a blue collar school, this is a work ethic hands in the dirt school. It is an agricultural school, it is textile school, it is an engineering school founded by tough people, and that is what this football team will be and that is what we were today…..” DD
This is one you want to frame and put on the wall behind your desk. Nothing in the post game comments made me as happy as this. My son and I were having this discussion on Friday. He was talking about embracing the urban nature of U of H and I was telling him how I loved the fact that State was an Ag and Engineering school. Every university has roots that reveal its mission and that form its character. The fact that DD gets who we are and embraces it publicly is a nice bonus. The fact that he was able to get this team to this point is a very encouraging sign.
If he had only said “Pulp & Paper” instead of Textiles it would have been perfect.

ParticipantInteresting timing. Surprised it didn’t happen last season.
His “I am a raging dick!” persona never seemed to mesh with Husker fans … salt of the Earth people who would openly cheer opposing teams’ efforts when they felt it was justified.
We have new neighbors this football season who are Nebraska fans. Seem like nice folks. Every week, whether it’s MSU or Presbyterian there are 10 cars over there during game time. Those people are loyal.
My wife caught a serious case of the Bo Pellini hates from watching his comments on TV about a year ago. She was dancing around the den this morning.

ParticipantThe SEC rule means that the top SEC team is allowed one more loss (or maybe two) than everybody else. Now what SHOULD happen if Alabama loses a game and everybody else wins out is Oregon FSU TCU and tOSU.
A loss tonight gives the SEC shills on ESPN a whole week to sell the notion of two loss Alabama in the playoff. If they lose to Mizzou it’s a lot tougher because they aren’t even the SEC champion.
