Too much dribbling from Cat this half and the fouls are piling up. Need to settle down.

Sunday afternoon backyard pick-up games in our backyard are some of the best memories I have of my childhood. Neighbors and friends, adults and kids, we had a blast. The court was dirt, you had to wear the grass away each fall to have a true surface to dribble on. Homemade wooden backboard, and a creosote infused 6 X 6 pole. The clothes line was the boundary for the left side of the court so yo had to be careful when you tried to save a ball over there.

The next basketball arena needs to be on campus. I loved my time in Reynolds. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Terrible officiating that evened out in the end. We showed a lot of nerves down the stretch.

Very appropriate to pick Detroit for the game in Reynolds. Tiny Pinder set the Wolfpack single game rebounding mark in an NIT win over Detroit back in the mid 70’s. Vitale may have even been the coach at Detroit for that game.

Russell Wilson was a QB transfer who worked out well.

Briles is a football guy. He’s not enough of a politician to be happy in Austin. Briles is THE QB guru at the college level. (Kolb, Keenum, RGIII, Florence, Petty)

Shaw is probably the perfect candidate.

One of the women who works with my wife has a friend in Austin who showed houses to Mrs. Saban a couple of weeks ago. I’m pretty sure Mack is gone. A BCS Bowl bid or a share of the Big 12 title were his minimum standards for this year and he missed them both.

Mack Brown is the only coach in Texas history to lose at least 4 games in 4 consecutive seasons. Is there a coach in NC State history who has gone four straight years without losing four games?

Art Briles will not take the UT job.

The most interesting name being floated is Jim Harbaugh.

Herb Sendek has said that he is staying at ASU.

According to the local sports radio Orange Bloods is saying that highly placed sources have told them that Mack Brown will step down.

It will boil down to two numbers for this team. 3 point shooting percentage and defensive rebounding percentage.

I posted earlier that Washington, Freeman, and Anya will be the best three man inside rotation in the country when they are juniors. These guys all have a lot of upside, a solid work ethic, and good basketball sense on the floor.

Our performance level so far suggests that there will be 4-5 one possession games that will determine our NIT/NCAA fate.

I thought Sidney should have come unglued at the officials. It was a horribly lopsided game from the zebras. This team has to learn how to battle, how to grind, when things aren’t going well. I thought Sidney should have pressed full court for the entire second half until he was down to 5 or 6 players left who hadn’t fouled out. He has to get the effort message across.

When we went up by 18 in the second half, I looked at my son and told him if we could get to 80 points we would win the game. The intentional foul call on Fells ranks up there with the “Mugging at Midcourt” where Jeff Jones laid on Whit’s back and reached completely around him for a jump ball call. My son, who generally refuses to watch State basketball because it frustrates him so, spent most of the second half calling Dennis Horner “garbage” so he wasn’t surprised that an 86% FT shooter missed both shots with the game on the line.

We just don’t have any good shooters other than Costner. Fells is way too streaky. Until we get some reliable shooters in the program we will continue to be a bad team.
