Chemistry/team building/unity: DD and staff also do not insinuate blame to players. There appears to be a organic cultivation of ‘team’, leadership, and accountability.

Actually, there was a great example of that last year with the 4th and 15 fake punt.

All indications were that was a player going rogue, but DD just took the blame for it.

Unlike Obama and his supporters, you can only blame the previous administration for so long.

I’ve already seen enough on the field and from his staff to know he’s definitely the best head coach NC State has had since Sheridan left after the ’93 season.

I have alwasy professed to not know that much about football so I ask this with all sincerity. Why do you think this? All I see is us struggling against what appear to be weak teams. Your answer may just be “low bar to hurdle”. IDK

I do know TOB left a complete dumpster fire. IMO he had no plans to return after Glennon’s senior year and so did not even try on the recruiting trail. He and Fowler were robbing this university. But it seems to this football illiterate that DD has taken a bad hand and played it poorly.

I don’t know much about football either, but I can touch on some of that.

    1) Discipline, we’ve been much better with penalties, and that’s with freshmen playing.
    2) S & C, clearly several steps above TOB
    3) Offense, we’re balanced in a way that we haven’t been in a long time
    4) 4th quarter attitude, this team wants to win, and they’re learning how

    Just IMO.

I’m feeling warm and fuzzy towards Foose.

I should probably go to the doctor and get that checked out.

Jury may still be out on Doeren, but the S&C staff have already proven themselves keepers. They get the MVP for first two games.

No doubt. It’s like night and day from last year.

After last season, they are looking for reasons to feel better about themselves. I have no problem with that.

Leach’s team (again, inherited squat) was awful last year and is 0-2 with losses to so-so programs (Rutgers, Nevada).

He should lock them in a shed until they learn to play better.

Seeing them dance around on the sidelines after a nail biter against ODU is quite telling. This is who we are, and the players are more than satisfied. Could you imagine a Mack Brown coach team dancing around on the sidelines after barely scraping by Old Dominion?

Yeah, why would a bunch of freshmen be excited about a win. Act like you’ve been there before >:[

A graphic at the beginning of the game confirms BJD’s point regarding next year being Doeren’s true test. We started the 2nd most freshmen last season. The fact that so many freshmen this year are getting significant playing time tells you that we have a serious talent/depth deficiency. His play-calling is worthy of criticism, but I’m not willing two games into this season to throw in the towel. We have three absolute, dead-on losses coming (FSU, Clemson and UL). Everything else is a toss-up, and a bowl appearance after last season is a sure sign of solid progress.

Two favorite things in tonight’s game: 1) Angela Mallen’s hot lisp and 2) The ‘Full’ Monte Nelson!!

I’m not saying it’s likely, but we had a shot against Clemson last year before the refs screwed us out of a touchdown. We’re better this year than last year.

    Wat.

    You sure? I’m not sure.

Let me break it down for you. Can you find me another coach that won 1 game in each of his 1st two seasons and went on to be a great coach?

We won 3 last year….I don’t get it.

And, I’m not saying 3 is great, but still.

I’m saying, there is usually some progress at least in the 2nd season with solid rebuilding coaches. It appears we may have somehow actually regressed from the sh!t pile that we were last season.

    Wat.

    You sure? I’m not sure.

Remember how bad Mack Brown’s first two teams were? Certainly had no correlation to his program building ability.

Kryszhe;lkaski was terrible for three years!

So we have resorted to onside kicks and two point conversions against the Monarchs, is that right? Lord help us.

Did we OSK? I missed that…

Since I can’t seem to link it…Ohio St. has a study that once and for all proves Vegas lines, to include O/U, as poor outcome predictors.

I missed that CD story the first time around, and just went back and read it.

Powerful stuff, and exceptionally well written.

On the one hand, if you’re not a writer, I think you missed your calling.

On the other, if you were a writer, you might not have the stories.

I guess I’ll just enjoy it for what it is.

As much as I hate to say this, it’s really the media that makes it seem like Rus was only a Badger.

And if they do acknowledge he played at State, it’s with the caveat, “but they didn’t want him back for his senior season”
