do not say- how much would it take to bring you to the Pack
say-how much do want – and have a blank check ready to be filled out

Was at that 88 game Shane Montgomery was picking them apart, look like he was deciding which receiver to throw to, it was at Chapel Hill-which made it that much sweeter-2 years later beat them on a last second field goal 56 yarder-no TD’s 7 FG’s-ironic part Damon Hartman had been offered a soccer scholarship to UNC but took FB scholarship to State-the year in between at Raleigh Pack won 40-6, Sheridan owned the heels when he left O’Cain might well have said UNC is my daddy-after he lost to them 7 straight times, he goes and coaches for them and UNC loses, might well say he was 0-8 in that series

    I’m thinking….

that the four week head start just might work to our advantage…

yeah… we have our list of guys we want…
    but everybody else is watching…

who’s to say there ain’t 3-4 really good, off the radar Coaches out there who are thinking to themselves…
hmmm… “NCState, I could do something there…” and who as the “opportunity” sinks in won’t use the back channels to express their interest…

I know if I was sitting in the Big Chair, I would take the time to sit back and see who’s calling me… and not singularly focused on whom I’m calling…

But then, I’m not sitting in the Big Chair… this time….

    Regardless….
I’m convinced that our biggest selling point is the pending Retirement of the four Dinosaurs…
    Jim, Roy, Mike && Jim…

That point simply cannot be understated in any serious conversations about the future.

two weeks before NCAA’s then two more weeks before sweet 16, Archie could be finished by second week!! Greg could go a little further-next five weeks:rumor mill will be going full steam ahead, the more time goes by without a remark from the two front runners the better, maybe they have already said no behind close doors and the search firm is weeding out contenders and pretenders-I was reading some stories on coach Case last night and our neighbors back then were not afraid to challegne the king of the south back -yea long time ago but the moral of the story do not back down shoot for the stars-some of the espn hacks are just that hacks and look for a negative spin on everything but Bilas’s remarks are personal, there is something there he is still pissed off about, remember in the early years “K” did not like “V” and maybe that has something to do with it!!

This search must be done in secret-find out are you interested or not and move on to the next guy-Marshall knows now if he is interested or not, Archie is different but have him let us know if he would consider and so down the line, the ones that say yes, when their season is completed make a under the table offer and then their counter offer and down the list, their is probably 5-6 good choices-what really concerns me is should Debbie make this call, maybe finish out her career as an adviser and bring in the new guy early-there are some smart people in athletic dept let Woodson and them make this call-I remember back when sidney was hired, sports people at the airport, Billy Donovan is looking at houses in the area please not that again

Everyone needs to come off the ledge-the program is in better shape than when Herb left, it is in better shape than when Sidney left-it is not where it needs to be- but the right person can achieve it, Gott hit his ceiling now its time to move up and get the right coach whether it is Archie,Marshall,Wade or any of the ones on the imaginary list that is bantered about-Positive attributes -great facilities, great school, you compete in the best league in basketball one of very few schools that have multiple NCAA titles-All I ask is that it is done silently, when Fowler was doing a search it was blasted all over the TV,Radio, sports pages, he let a two bit con-man take him to the cleaners-Debbie did a little better but not much -like Fowler she settled but did get a better coach-personally I wish Debbie would step aside and let others in athletic dept and R.Woodson make this call-but have a check that is blank and be ready to fill in the blanks or settle for the blue light special-behind the curtains I would find out if Marshall is available if not proceed on without an offer-Make Archie and Wade my primary -do it all like blacks ops-

They say We are not their rival why does it means so much in victory -why does it hurt so much after a loss-when UNC defeats NCSU the bragging is endless and when they lose -no where to be found-they will not admit they look to NC State as their in Football superior ,to beat us is self approval for heel fans-we are NC State

I think the QB play will better than we expect especially with the transfer, who will win out the starting position at least by 3rd game,7-5 with possibility of 8-4 you gotta play them one at a time.with a win between FSU and ND and a win between ECU and MIami, UNC game is very winnable – wins against BC,Wake,Syracuse,W&M, ODU I can see 8-4, I would rather be wrong and show the team I have support than pick em to lose. Louisville and Clemson on the road to tough

First time I saw David Thompson up Close, damn he is so young, he look like young high school soph instead of a College, but when played it was not compared to High school-sorry for the Thompson family loss, prayers go to David and his family.

I will be there for every game this season, because football at Carter-Finlay is special-have seen some great game- 27-3 against a strong Clemson team, last second victories, S.C. and the Hell Mary, kicking the holes ass, never missed a game since 83,will not miss one until I am gone—-games at CF are an all day event, the tail gating none better, hi-fives with people you don’t know, it is only 7-8 times a year, will not miss it this year, anyone that feel this way sell your tickets to someone that does.

a lot of negativity is created on forums like this, most are a half empty glass kind of fan- I choose to be positive and hopefully a couple new players help turn this around-why should Gott be fired what are the reasons!! he is the best of the last 4 BB coaches we have had, he has far exceeded Sid and Herb and Les, who you are you gonna get if he is fired.

D Yow: when she arrived, the previous AD has mucked everything up so bad, his last hires were a BB coach who was hired as a last resort, his FB hire was someone that called and said I will take the job, so I think she has made upgrades in BB and FB.
who knows how good this team could have been had Henderson not been injured, the Martins were good roll players but as the season progress they wanted to take more of a starring role, I saw them take shots when they should have passed, that being said I still have confidence in Gottfried, his overall record in the last 5 years gives him a pass (4 out of 5 NCAA and 2 sweet 16)from where we were previously he is an upgrade-ooh rah

13ot– do not understand why people have to always downgrade the Pack(if you really are a Pack fan) I been going to games
for 30 years Football and Basketball, I can say I have never regretted attending a game, a little disappointed at time, the great moments outweigh any negatives-the saddest times were the Sendek years and Tom Reed,a saturday afternoon at Carter-Finley nothin finer, Reynolds was super-I choose to live on the positive side-Gott has done incredible -4 out 5 NCAA’s 2 sweet 16’s. This was a down year but their are a lot of teams that would love to have our last 5 years.

Tom recruited to the charactor of a recruit, the philosophy of the Marine corp is to build you
if you had good charactor and athletic ability you could be honed into a great player.
not saying all recruits were able grow into this mold.
The guys on the 2005 team on defense just about all made it the pro’s Tank,DeMario,Mario, marcus Hudson and so on
but did not have a good team.
If you measure your team by the amount that make the Pro’s you will be disappointed.
Most of Tom’s player were students of high quality (not all) I will always have respect
for Tom and what he tried to do.

It’s time to let the Tom O’Brien era go.
Tom was our coach and led us to some
    great wins.
Now we have moved on to a great young
    coach in Dave D.
Having met Tom, I liked him.
He reached out an embraced the rivalry
with unc and owned it except for one brief
    moment in his last game.
I always remember the positives and discard
    the negatives.

    Thanks Tom (semper fi)

swoff will always have a plum for his tar holes
love for it to be pack we really need some exposure ya know if
espn has anything to do with it — well we would be s.o.l
instead of trying build syracuse and duke into a rivalry lets get
Duke and Pack playing home and home each year

when a mid-major coach has a breakout year the media is all over this guy as the next great hire
Shaka Smart heralded as the next great he elected to stay until the pickings were plum- now he chooses
Texas (all about the money) glad State didn’t hire him (think he will flame out) he will have at 4-5 years
at Texas, then will be on his way back to a mid-major and will slip into obscurity.
Greg Marshall same way has turned down many offers (he situation is a little different WSU does have a little
    more stature than VCU)
even if it was a late hire I think Gott is the right man for State, seems to have passion for the University and
its history, has respect for our neighbors but does not fear them.

Every time someone critiques the game (media) some name coach wants to put his name in the pot
then there is rule change, changing the rules every year or two is what is ruining the game
go back to the original intent of the game and enforce the rules as intended to be.
the college does not need to follow the road the pro’s have gone to, just be the game and play
it the way it was intended.
If a ref makes a mistake then so be it, if he continues to make mistakes then cut him loose.
how many time have the announcers such as Vitale this official is one of the best but you never hear
them say this guy not a very good official (their are bad officials hint– Karl ).
I am on a rant, I enjoy watching college basketball and hear people say it is terrible to watch
some games are not as entertaining as others but I love watching them all.
