Pack Loses Thursday Off, ACC Loses Last Shred of Credibility

In the most incompetently officiated game I have ever seen, on any level…NC State falls to the 5th seed and 11-7.

Anyone who doesn’t want to leave this bullshit joke of a conference needs their head examined.

listend to mos of the game on the radio as was at GS’s soccer game. Did a STATE fan throw the water bottle at Calvin (CJ today) and get ejected?

Radio guys were all over the zebra’s about how the whistles were blowing on the State guys and the FSU guys were takimg cheap shots after a whistle

  2. packbackr04 03/09/2013 at 4:33 PM #

Awful. And anyone who points to overall fouls just doesnt get it.

We have not had much luck on the road this year – why would today be any different? Make our FT’s, we win the game. Don’t turn the ball over at crucial times, we win the game. Yes, the officiating was not that great, but we laid an egg as well.

  4. WeAreCured 03/09/2013 at 4:33 PM #

Well, when your PG has 7 turnovers, the team misses 12 free throws, and CJ has one of the most boneheaded and pathetic games of his career, you’re not going to win many, if any at all. You can’t have all 3 of those happen in one game.

I didn’t watch the second half to try and balance the juju, so I can’t comment on the officiating.

    CJ Leslie ain’t shit.

The ACC is the best conference and officiating in history. The only thing that could make it better is if Carl Hess replaced Swofford at Comish.

This conference has turned into a joke.

CJ never ceases to amaze me. He single handedly punted this game. In case no one noticed, the Snaer runout layup at the end was his laziness. And two straight turnovers at the critical end of a critical game, was classic CJ … I hope he enjoys playing in Italy, and soon!

Seven (7) turnovers by Brown’s alter ego “Alonzo”.

  9. Pack Mentality 03/09/2013 at 4:35 PM #

    The loss is on Leslie

    Oh yeah, Go Twerps!

State is State’s problem, we suck and look pathetic without the official’s help.

Disappointing loss by a disappointing team.

    Sit Calvin.

Get ready to sweat Selection Sunday.

    Go UMD? vomit….

“In the most incompetently officiated game I have ever seen, on any level…NC State falls to the 5th seed and 11-7.”

I sure the teams at the top of this confrence have better things to do that whine about the refs. They’re working on their game plan to win the confrence and enjoying their day off on Thursday.

When is it going to be obvious that it is what it is and the only thing the team can do is win the games on their schedule. Seems to me like thats the clear answer.

Nothing is going to change with the refs in the ACC, and Carolina is never going to get hammered. Live with it folks. Just win the games on our scedule and we’ll stop being the red headded stepchild that sits third fiddle….

  14. Alpha Wolf 03/09/2013 at 4:41 PM #

Zo didn’t have the best of games, but there were a couple TO’s that were on Purvis and Warren cutting the wrong way.

Still, with a chance to get the game tied at the end, Calvin’s piss-poor free throw skills and his mishandling of the ball and turning it over cost us dear.

As for the refereeing, the ACC will shrug and say that two FSU kids fouled out too.

It doesn’t make any difference if CJ literally handed the ball to the opposing team he would still start the next game! Why? Who the F knows but it happens over and over again. What message does that send to our team?

  16. Alpha Wolf 03/09/2013 at 4:42 PM #

And as for the fan who got thrown out of the stands, he should be ashamed of himself. No matter how mad you get at the way a game is called, you don’t throw crap over your own bench onto the floor. Like that will help anything. The guy was a middle-aged man who should have known better. He didn’t represent NC State very well at all when he did that.

“State is State’s problem, we suck and look pathetic without the offial’s help.”

Well said! Why people keep blaming officials is beyond me. We have the MOST experienced team and probably the MOST talented…in a down league…and we go 11-7? FSU was playing freshman for Pete’s sake! In a very needed game, we just didnt show up. We had a terrible game plan and got out-coached by Leonard Hamilton and out-played by freshman. Officiating may have sucked, but why is it that the margin for error for us is constantly so slim with 2 seniors and 2 first round draft picks in our starting 4?

  18. Alpha Wolf 03/09/2013 at 4:44 PM #

eas, CJ only has a handful of games left in a Wolfpack uniform. Gott has tried everything he knows to straighten this kid out, but he is apparently someone who isn’t getting the message. At this point, you have to go with him and hope for the best, because his upside when he is playing well is vital.

In case Coach reads this … do the State Fan Nation a favor, and SIT LESLIE DOWN! … HE IS A LIABILITY … Let your recruits start the rebuilding early…

  20. wolfonthehill 03/09/2013 at 4:46 PM #

Better team today won. We had a chance… destiny in our hands… and we shit the bed. Nothing more, nothing less.

To loop back to the “expectations” thread earlier this week, 11-7 on the year is an unmitigated failure, IMO. Sure, we can make a run… but the regular season was a virtual train wreck.

    That’s just me…

“And as for the fan who got thrown out of the stands, he should be ashamed of himself…..He didn’t represent NC State very well at all when he did that.”

Well said Alpha. As many things as I’m bothered about by this game, that jackhole probably bugs me the most.

  22. eas 03/09/2013 at 4:46 PM #

It is a bad day when someone says you are out-coached by Leonard Hamilton…..the coach that never coaches.

  23. Alpha Wolf 03/09/2013 at 4:47 PM #

“We had a terrible game plan and got out-coached by Leonard Hamilton and out-played by freshman.”

I think the guys competed hard at times — especially when Howell, Wood and Leslie were sitting on the bench at the end of the first half.

As for the game plan, I agree somewhat. I would have liked to have seen more of a three guard offense with Zo, Lewis and Purvis in the game attacking FSU’s defenders with speed and making them foul more. Coach felt differently, but it seemed to work for a time in the first half.

“In the most incompetently officiated game I have ever seen, on any level…NC State falls to the 5th seed and 11-7.”

The ACC looses all credibility to who? Statefans? The teams that won the games on their schedule definitely have better things to do that complain about reffing. thats for sure. The’ll be sitting down on thrusday drawing up their game plan to the championship. It’d be nice to not be the croud that has to conjure up conspiracy theories while crying in our spilled milk while the blues and others found a way to the top….harsh, but thats the reality folks.

I’m also petty sure that the ACC credibility (or lack there of) is only marred in the eyes of state fans on a macro prospective. No one that matters gives a shit. How is it not blatently obvious to everyone that nothing is ever going to change with the ACC, and that UNC is never going to get hammered for what they did? It is what it is.

Just win the games on the schedule and we’ll stop being the red headed stepchild that plays third fiddle in NC…..it’d also be a good feeling to be over the hump.

And to answer the question of is this season a dissappointment, i’ll take it a step further and say that the program over the last 20 years is one huge dissappointment. Are things getting better? yeah. Is this really Gotts fault? probably not, its his second year and has done alot to aadvance the program, but its frustrating as hell to watch this team loost and shoot it self in the foot. This whole season has slipped away little by little.

The only reason this team is still locked into the NCAAT is because it had so far to fall from starting out #6. Defilitely started out the year over rated, but now has fallen quite a bit below what should have been acceptable. It also should have not come down to the last game of the year, however we allowed Wake Forrest, Maryland, UVA and Miami to put in this position. Its my hope that this season can be still be marked as a rebuilding year….with better things to come next year. (WTNY BABY!!!!)

Too violent an affair for amateur sports. Gott should just say it on the mike after the game-but he can’t. Both of CJs late turnovers were FSU guys making contact. His spin move the defender moved his feet and Leslie traveled (trip). The fast break fumble had White going through him and the ball went of us out of bounds (push).
We make some FTs and pull out a close one. The officials don’t let the game be played dangerous and grossly incompetent and we win pulling away.
