    Why run there?

I’m not sure. Was it ill conceived or ill executed?

^agree on the Elliot running. Not positive, but one of the announcers mentioned Owings was replaced by Dalton for the third straight game in late innings, and that Dalton hadn’t got an AB yet. I’m guessing a nagging injury if that is the truth, can’t be his defense.

Wuf, I think Knizner picks, yeah, he picks, especially backhands, and does not use his body to block pitches that are down and away, and I especially hate it with runners on base. I suppose he hasn’t figured out the value of a chest protector just yet. I realize that he is still relatively new to the position, but his picking is inexplicable to me. He should have gotten better defensive teaching in the last two years. His defense is not a new angle on the game such as changing the way a catcher used to catch a fowl pop up (glove up), twenty years ago with a no break mitt, or the proper bunting stance, pitch counts, or other significant changes to the game since. The catcher’s defense is not up for review for a new training manual. Use your dang body. Keep the ball in front of you. Yeah, he’s a picker, I just worry about his commitment to stopping the ball with runners on base, or is it poor coaching? Today, catchers use their body in the show…everyday..that’s the job, it has not changed, it is the position.

Wuf, (or anyone else that wishes to answer) not that it matters at this point as FSU’s last run was inconsequential, but do you believe that Dejuneas deserved a WP in the ill-fated bottom of the eighth, or should Knizner have been charged with a PB? Having been a catcher years ago, it’s something that you pay attention to. I’d bet CD pays attention to that stuff too.

Can’t believe Dejuneas left that 0-2 pitch right over the middle of the plate.

Painter…moved on due to a family illness..I believe his grandma was ill and he wanted to be closer to home.
    Harrow..never played for gott.
Throw those two out of the mix…
Harris…yeah, a bench player at best..
Purvis…probably the best of those that defected, yet still somewhat over rated
Lewis …the third of our 3 McDonalds All Americans…..right..we got two Big Macs and a Kid’s Meal without a toy, and daddy thought Tyler was much better than he was. He couldn’t defend a three-legged dog, let alone a Cat.
Raymond and De Thaey? Neither have achieved any notoriety since defecting. Gott’s program survived just fine without both of them. Neither of them had the potential to move us from the Sweet sixteen to the Elite Eight.
Kyle…It remains to be seen…I did not want to see him go but he left for what was IMO selfish reasons. He did not appreciate his role in a team game.. It is upon him to prove Gott wrong for cutting down his minutes. Time will tell. Too many kids get too much smoke blown up their bunghole and believe that they are all that and a long white rag top Cadillac. Reality is a bitch that cares little for requited love….

(one chronically hurt, one with no ambition and one who may jet at the first hint of praise), bro we are a long way from having a solid roster.

Brollack, can you be specific on the one with no ambition and the one that will jet? Inquiring minds wish to know. We have a player with no ambition?

If Gott has failed in any way, it is probably in the quality of the kids that he recruited. How many Gott defectors would you like to have back? How many showed promise but did not progress? How many thought they deserved more time and, in reality, did not? Save Purvis, I can’t think of one defector that I regret and I’m not sure that I regret Purvis (we still don’t know about Kyle). If we were having players leave and go on to be great at a comparable university, then okay. I haven’t seen it yet.

I don’t wish to start anything, but to say that Gott only plays seven every year is demonstrably false. Yes, only seven averaged double figures in minutes played this past season, and that was the case in 2012-13. But, in 2013-14 and 2014-15 nine players averaged doubled figures in minutes. In his first season, eight players managed double figures. Had Henderson not been injured Maverick would not have averaged 33 plus minutes, so at least eight would have averaged double figures. Nine would, had we had them available.

I’m not going to whine about the Martin boys leaving…They got plenty of minutes this past season and other than an occasional good shooting night by Caleb, they hardly seem like ACC material.. We shall see where they transfer to. To whine because we are losing “warm bodies” seems silly. Where else in our conference would they become a more integral part of the offense? Which team in our conference really wants them? This is not to denigrate them. CD is right. They see the handwriting on the wall, and want to play two years somewhere else. Fine. That is their prerogative. I wish them all the best and thank them for their efforts, and hope that Gott does his recruiting job this off season..Go Pack…

Hey BJD…not to change the subject, but since you’re a European football fan you should search on youtube for a video titled “Celtic girl cries over loss”..it’s 58 seconds of hilarity. I’d post it here but the young lady’s language is a bit salty….Anyway, not to spoil it but she nearly has an aneurysm at the end like I sometimes do when the Pack loses..

    Fantastic post, Highstick.

IIRC, it wasn’t just the pickup game with EB, but that State allowed DT to spend the night in a dorm at no charge. Still a minor violation, but it all worked out as we kicked butt the 4 years I was there (72-76).

It sounds enticing, but I have concerns about Frenchie’s leg and Mav’s foot – Frenchie more so. Cat’s elbow doesn’t seem to be too concerning, who knows?. We need guys to get healthy and then get in some good conditioning going into next year.

Indeed Chop..sometimes it is just easier to turn on the TV hours later and see the score on the ESPN bottom line and either be totally elated or just take the pain…like Garner..tag him and bag him…
