depends on how badly you want to make a change and why you’d want to take a cut, but I’d be inclined to skip the HR goob and have a conversation with the hiring manager – the goob just has a slot to get filled, the manager actually has a job to get done, he is going to be more motivated to make it work for you, if you’re the guy he’s picked. And it’s not like you need to worry about making an enemy of someone who’s chosen the HR department as a career.

As you may can tell, I don’t think very highly of the HR profession. This guy’s comment only helps my case – he should be trying to sell you, but of course, if he were any good at that, he’d be in sales.

I wish it was as easy as “just guard consistently.” Shot selection and running a sound offense on a consistent basis is, I think, an even bigger impediment to success. The last 10 minutes of the Louisville game, jacking up forced 1-on-5 shots and standing around the perimeter waiting on the defense to take a smoke break was emblematic of our lapses all season, if not all of the past quarter century.

There’s no question Gottfried is the best coach we’ve had since they killed Valvano. He can recruit just fine. We’ll see if he can step it up on the consistency scale, which is what is required if you’re going to run with the likes of Izzo and K and Pitino come tournament time.

it took me a couple of years on this site to find the button that showed only The CowDog’s posts. Greatly enhanced my experience.

from WRAL – “Although he’s violated those terms at least twice, the university has not outlined any further punishment for Leak.”

Banned from campus, games, and any contact with any athletes – what “further punishment” would the esteemed news organization propose? Publish derogatory cartoons about him? Take back his letter jacket? It’s a university, not a mafia organization.

so 2003 was the last win in the hole. How about an even more rare occurrence last night – when was the last time the Pack drew more fouls (called fouls, I mean) and had more FT attempts than the holes? Not to mention turnovers and rebounds. The low score hides the fact that this was a beatdown. I’m sure roy will call it an off night, but either the heels were exposed as frauds (I mean on the court), or the Pack has turned into a real basketball team (or both).

Interesting article on ESPN’s blog about Barber stepping up his play – makes the case for the latter. Hope it continues to prove true in Boston.

At least WTNY finally means something different for once.

Fantastic win. D was solid and consistent. Even Brian Kersey played like crap tonight. 9 FT attempts? No way to honor the memory of a recently departed ACC legend. Referring of course to Karl Hess.
