What did we do to deserve the ACC Network? I know we’re bad and all, but really?

As for the game, ouch. We seem to be getting worse and worse.

Post-game presser be damned. It will take nothing but winning to change my opinion of Mark Gottfried. So far, he took great recruiting classes by Lowe to the NCAAT, but could not control the personality of the team. Granted, that is MUCH MUCH MUCH better than Lowe ever did, but then Gottfried follows it up with this product. All eyes on the head coach now. He has no excuses, yet seems to always find one. Once he actually out-coaches a Roy Williams or a Mike Kysdfsycysdofysdoyszda, I will start to believe. Fact is, I don’t think that is ever coming. Best to hope for now is that he brings the program back to at least a winning record [see Lowe] with great recruits [see Sendek] to at least make the job here more intriguing to his successor.

Queue “State has a habit of blowing leads” from every color announcer we hear for the rest of the season.

Yep. And I can’t say that it’s not deserved. Concomitantly, queue State fans whining about every color announcer remarking how we blow leads. Respect is earned.

Coach is tripping on the radio post game….

Said he thought we got ‘good shots’ at the end of game which sealed the victory.

He does have better seats than we do.

His post-game remarks have become cliché. I wonder what he will say about letting a 17 point lead slip away.

We have all heard of “encouraging losses,” well, I guess this is a discouraging win. Everything from the intensity of the players, the offensive sets we were running, and the overall “smarts” of this team is probably on the same level the one last year. With the coaching staff we have sitting on the bench, we should be showing tremendous improvement game in and game out; instead, it’s the same old same old.

    Cheers

This one hurts, for sure. Muzzle hit some wild shots during that 7 minute stretch, but not all of them were highlight worthy. We need to play better defense down the stretch. Fatigue should be a non factor with our bench going 9 deep. All in all, losses at home in games where you should have won, will dampen our NCAAT spirits.

Truly, this has been the most exciting team to watch in a long, long time. Sure, there are growing pains, but all the players seem to be buying in. And I cannot stress how important it is to have the bench depth we currently have. When a player’s head isn’t in it, Gottfried can bench him and get him focused. Depth at all positions. Man. I love it.
