^thanks, Bill. Will we try to apply more perimeter pressure, or just play solid until USF coughs it up?
His teams are always very good at running the full court press. Like Boeheim and his zone, I believe Pearl recruits athletes specifically tuned for defense. Finding adequate scorers will be his main challenge at Auburn.

Billy D LeeCat Barber was the last offensive juggernaut that Gott signed, and he’s arguably our best defender. Everyone else in his last two classes have been well rounded, roll player type guys. I don’t wanna hear about Gott’s recruiting falling off because he’s only after one and dones.
Other than Ralston, I don’t see who could be in the game solely for offense. Hell, RTO will even dive on the floor for a loose ball, and he’s a good shot blocker for a wing player.
If defense is what everyone wants, that’s what we’ll get, because we won’t be scoring in the 80s.
*IMO, the reason why we had selfish/lazy/disruptive players here in the past is because A) we recruited them B) they thought they could get away with it here. No more!

Our DBs NEVER turn around to see the ball. It doesn’t matter where the QB throws it! We ain’t looking for it.
Recent history suggests that Duke will flake out very early in the NCAAT, but I’m not ready to suggest that K can’t coach defense.
If it weren’t for Gott, Vandy would be playing in Australia, not the NBADL. Vandy benefited from Gott’s coaching.
Our defense, IMO, will be “good enough” if we can handle ball screens, pick & rolls, and special situations. I’m not saying we’ll get there, but we will be improved. That’s good enough for me.
Tyler Lewis and Jordan Vandenberg are gone. Tyler won’t get burned anymore and Vandy won’t pick up ticky-tack fouls. So that’s addition by subtraction. Cat and Beejay will be getting those minutes (more or less), so who would argue that they’re not better defensively?
If we’re gonna continue to play man-to-man, we need to improve at defending ball screens. IMO, that has been our worst aspect of “team defense”. That, and defending in-bounds plays. We’ve been decent one-on-one and our bigs are decent (if not better) in defending the lane and rim.
